I think most people have trappings-that is to say stuff which we don't really need or use on a regular basis. There is a minimalist challenge-100 things and get rid of the rest. If you do the 100 item challenge a collection( i.e. books) count as 1 item. I firmly believe the less stuff you have helps you become free and allows you, not someone else, to own your life.

@@whtfolks5517 Both of you be SURE to get a big-enough truck -- most truck campers are WAY heavier than they look, and the largest ones are INSANELY heavy -- and I'm talking EMPTY (dry), not loaded up with gear (wet). Most people OVERLOAD their trucks weight-wise. Not good...or safe. ;-) I'd look into them also...but don't have the "serious" truck, so I'd have to buy both truck and camper. Also, they'd be a bit top-heavy for the off-road places I'd like to go, not to mention that many of the mountain passes in CO are out as top-heavy vehicles can be a problem with off-camber shelf roads, low overhangs and tight/steep switchbacks. Otherwise, they'd be great. Happy Travels, -- BR

Here is a tip for Beth , have some custom automotive shop put vents in your hood facing towards the windshield because when winter comes you want need to use your defroster because you engine will do it for you. You will save on gas or diesel Also get a hot rod magazine and look in the ads section for your carpet in the cab area, they have insulation mats that go under your carpet and it will drop the temperature from the inside about 8 to 10 degrees in the summer and keep you warmer in the winter and also use emergency blankets they keep you warm as well as newspaper like the bums on the street use. One last tip use 1gallon baggies to keep your feet and hands warm as I learned that from a Cop to help me from having my hands freeze while riding my motorcycle in 14 degree weather not including the chill factor, it was 9 degrees when I finally got home. I know many will go, many already have, while I size down my life with mom to sell her final home on earth.. but I will keep more things than I physically need because they were important to her, to our life for generations, essential sometimes, just for beauty, other times. Our lives were intimately linked thru the years. Only one niece has the same feelings, and hopefully, she will take what is left when I die and introduce it further into her family so these gifts bless more generations to come.
