Fails, carnage, wild rides, mishaps from the 2021 truck and tractor pulling season. Enjoy.
this videos purpose is to highlight the various breakages we have seen throughout 2021. breakage is a normal part of motorpsorts and sometimes reflecting back on these things can help a team learn what went wrong. thanks.

Often, not always, fire is out in a few seconds. Firefighting foam is pretty destructive and may be overkill in a lot of cases. Better assess quickly what poses true danger, put that out as the lady did. I'm sure, at least I hope, she's well trained on dealing with mechanical and engine fires with quite a variety of engines on steroids.

The fire extinguisher causes more damage to the engine than the fire usually does. Many competitors do NOT want a fire extinguisher emptied out into their expensive engine. If the flames are coming out of the pipes, or not hurting anything (engines are mostly metal) then let it burnout on its own if it's not a big deal. I certainly would NOT want a fire extinguisher emptied down the throat of my $35,000 drag car motor if it didn't need to be... So many of these rude fire extingisher comments by people who do not understand. 🙄 Don't make yourself look ignorant.

@2JZ with a big single Agreed, that's one strong possibility. Should run 'em on Castrol R, after all, if it was good enough for the Spitfires and Hurricanes in WWII, it would've served some souped-up agricultural machinery more than adequately! To be honest, anyone who supercharges a lawnmower is gonna reap what they sow sooner or later . . . . .
@jonniebyford
@jonniebyford 2 жыл бұрын
@2JZ with a big single I knew about the carb's inferiority vs the 109's injection, but didn't know that a brass ring fixed it. Obviously I don't know your level of understanding when it comes to the IC engine, but if you can tell me how the little brass ring fixed it I'd follow your explanation. It was interesting (to me, anyway), to read how the pilots, inhaling all that castor oil, got a serious case of the runs after their flights. After all, everyone knows that castor oil is used for constipation. I'm sure the sheer fear and exhilaration would've caused the pilot's to need a spare pair of underpants. I saw a Ukrainian soldier interviewed yesterday, and he said all the soldiers there have two uniforms, because after a stint on the front line they need a swift change directly afterwards - and he was only half joking!

@2JZ with a big singleThanks for the explanation about Miss Shilling! I remember the name of Guy Gibson's dog. Not exactly "PC" in today's world! I have come across a lot of German Shepherds called "Blondie" - like Hitler's dog. I expect you knew that everything German became so unpopular during WWI that the royal family changed their name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor, and German Shepherds to Alsatians . . .

More so than usual. I've watched a few of these vids, and that's a record for the multi-layered breaks. One had the hitch and drive shaft break. Is it just me or are these breakdowns more common on the standard trucks? (Maybe because they weren't originally built to pull loads on that scale.)

In all fairness following on the first comment, the tractors had their fair share too. First time I've seen the engine smoke out AND lose a wheel. It's easy to imagine these mishaps are expected, but that's a lot even for the basic assumption!

@@jordanscherr6699 Some years are worse than others... It sure doesn't help the situation in the breakage category that diesel horsepower is suddenly on a major rise in the last few years also. A four cycle engine at 6000 rpm each cylinder fires 50 times a second. Under that load it shouldn't be so surprising that sometimes something lets go . Personally I hate to see it when it happens. These guys have a ton invested and most of the time it's not salvageable. They put on a great show.

Personally, I feel that there should be a few rule changes. After attending several of these events, I must say, the effort that goes into these power units is amazing and should not be overlooked. Therefore, if a part should become unattached from the main unit during a run, say a tire, or a piston, that run should be credited by how far the farthest part travels down the track.
