Most of these engines are alcohol fueled so really just water alone is enough to dilute the alcohol. Also the aresol can extinguisher works my suppressing the oxygen levels thus killing the fire

In some of the clips there were people in fire-protective gear carrying much larger extinguishers. However, someone with a tiny extinguisher will be able to run over there much faster and spray it where needed more easily. The better protected & better equipped people were needed to put out the more stubborn fires, but the small extinguishers usually seemed to do the job.

Most of these run on alcohol which is diluted by water? A great many of these vehicles are powered by jet fuel, kerosene, Diesel and gasoline. All of the vehicles have petroleum-based lubricants, many plastic and foam components of course the obvious rubber tires. There should be at least one trained firefighter in a fire suit with real fire extinguishers. My suggestion would be 10 lb ABC dry chemical and two and a half gallon AFFF water extinguishers at each side of the track at the Midway point

Every quarter-mile race track I've been to has a fire crew that's on scene within seconds, with a full-size foam cannon if needed. If I was sitting on a chair on top of a methanol fire I would be pissed if a pair of rodeo clowns showed up with aerosol cans of water

Saw my first tractor pull competition this past weekend at a local fall fair. Didn't have anything like the races in this video happen but it was still pretty cool to watch. It ran from noon to 7pm and I saw "run what your brung" trucks, tractors, modified trucks, super modified trucks, and more. Lots of diesel burning, dust churning and fans cheering.

Those guys working the fires look like a well oiled team that flat out knows what they are doing. Some expensive runs here. Ouch. What's the avg motor go, about $100k? That camera took a beating. :-) I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be too happy about the think nearly taking my face out. I loved the three engine beast with the wheelbarrow tires on the front. 10:05 You want these back? Nah. 11:28 Blower belt, hood, what's next? 11:47 What's the sewer pipe on the trailer for? Just to redirect, maybe. 13:37 The blue door on the rusted all to hell Ford truck was just icing on the cake. I'd be afraid the damned thing would just snap itself in tow. Looking at the cap to bed angle, I'd say it's about 1/3 of the way there, already. Do they salt these tracks? :-/ His big ole smile on exit was a nice touch, too. Boys and their toys, right? On a serious note, I'm a little bit surprised that they don't have some containment on those shafts. Damn sure hope they have a scatter shield bell housing, or wrap. 14:50 looked a lot like when the Russians put a T14 tank in their parade, minus the tracks. Ton's O fun...gotta go see one of these in person. The theme of this racing seems to be, basically: It broke. Secondarily: It's on fire. Tertiarily (?): Hold my beer and watch this!
