Where are the Ram haters saying they are not reliable...to them I say BS the Ram is a very reliable truck I'd go as far as to say more reliable that GM and Ford...since 09 I'm on my second Ram and both were worked hard and both were very reliable...going to pick up my new Ram Rebel tomorrow with the 5.7 Hemi don't want no stinking straight turbo 6 cyl in my truck I want the tried and prove N/A V8 with it's gorgeous V8 sound.

Look man if you buy ram, gm, or ford, and take care of it. They are all reliable. You would be shocked at how many people run there cars 50k miles and don't change their oil, and then complain when things start breaking. Its not a small number of people.

It’s quality control. American manufacturers (GM, Ford, Buick, Chevy) are notorious for their unreliability. Statistically there seems to be more problems with RAM, Chevys and ford Post Covid. Yes I am aware this is a 2019, and I am not saying there are no solid American trucks out there that can outperform, what I am saying is that the numbers don’t lie. Where am I getting these numbers from? JD power is a great source. They have a year to year reporting on reliability score and the reasons why “said” brand truck is failing. More commonly RAM seems to rank on the bottom half of least reliable. Where is JD power getting these numbers from? I can’t say 100% for sure where but I am willing to bet a good amount is from the consumer. I will not 100% for sure that’s where it’s from.

Did you always use the recommended oil 5w-20 or 0w-20 or did you always do 5w-30? especially in a hotter area such as Texas, just seems like 5w-20 would eat through those cams/lifters faster.

I'm a bit biased towards Chevy/GMC trucks BUT I'm always happy to hear when people get good mileage out of their respective trucks/cars/vans. Vehicles in general cost too much these days so the longer you can run your vehicle and not experience major failures is a big win.

This is obviously an e-Torque powertrain. Thats the only reason your brake pads lived beyond 100K. Also a great feature of the e-Torque platform is that it rev matches shifts. So every upshift or downshift the 48V motor spins up the crankshaft or slows it down to exact match the input speed to the ZF8HD transmission. This means you are never slipping clutches to change gears. It’s no surprise to me you could go 1/4 million miles with this transmission since it rarely ever spins clutches. It is basically a power shift transmission since the engine is doing all the RPM adjustments. Brakes are great because it uses the 48V motor to “grab” the crankshaft when you slow down. Regenerating the energy back into the battery instead of using friction & heat to slow you down. The rear pad will wear out first on a vehicle like this. It’s common. The stability control and other downhill stability “nanny’s “ utilize the rear brakes all the time without you knowing it. Cruise control, stop & go, and other nice features only use the rear brakes to control the vehicle to prevent lockup or sideways sliding during automated cruise. Basically, if you have e-Torque the front brakes only apply under heavy load or emergency stops. It’s an awesome system really. I owned a ‘21 limited for awhile and this is what I experienced. At 106,000 miles the front brakes were still like new.

I love seeing these videos. Although my experience has been different with my 19 ram hemi… it needs its THIRD driveshaft , exhaust leaks from both manifolds ,exhaust pipe flange bolts rusted and leaked. Air conditioning is terrible and needs a tsb repair done…dealership will have to remove entire dash to replace blend door. Tailgate sticks ,water leak from somewhere in the roof, now I’m experiencing a groan/grind noise and feeling during slow turns. Various reflashes for the 8.4 radio and transmission module. Front bumper clear coat peeling off in sheets …My truck has 46k easy easy miles on it. Never towed, never raced, never taken off road…I want to love it but it’s gonna have to be dumped off soon because I just don’t see it lasting😢. You're truck is unique in a sense that your mileage, although hwy, are all towing miles. Regarding the 8hp70, I'd probably change the fluid but save the old stuff incase you do run into issues with new fluid. That way, you can always drain the new fluid and out the old stuff back. 250k on original tranny fluid is impressive.

This has to prove to other fan brands that ram doesn’t have crappy 5.7 motors and there transmission isn’t bad it’s good and a truck can last as long as you take care of it all I have done to my ram rt is oil changes every 4k miles that’s it it’s at 54k miles and it’s running perfectly

The problem is that acumulated deposits overtime in certain pockets will start detaching do to the detergent properties of the new oil and that definitely will give you shifting problems do to contamination in the valve body

Dads 2019 limited already had both rear airbags fail at less than 100,000km (60,000miles). That is daily driven on gravel roads which is probably the issue.

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of all the things that have broken so far? Maintenance, fuel etc are just your regular running costs and their price varies.. but just a single list of things you’ve had to repair, not including any mods. Just to have a total idea of the reliability. As a new viewer for the channel, it looks like not much broke before 240k miles.

On the transmission, ZF states that 8HP75 transmissions have a fluid change interval of 60-80k miles. Now since youve gone 240k id say leave it

Justin, good to see you again. Hope all is well. Have heard there has been some bad weather recently out your way, and I hope you’ve been out of the way of it. Glad to hear the dusty Dodge is still up and running. I am very curious as to what the techs have to say about your tranny fluid. On another note, what was the mileage when you changed dif fluid ? Only asking cause it’s always on my mind as to when I should getter done. But, I’m not even at 32,000 miles yet, but I do like knowing ahead of time when things need done. Has the resonator delete gotten any more voicestress since doing it ? One of the best things I did to my Longhorn. Again, great to see you and I hope all is well your way. Take care my friend, see you in next video.

I’m curious about the dif fluid change too, I’ve also got a bit over 30,000 miles on mine. When I had the 30,000 mile service my dealer tried to sell me on a dif service, I declined. Having the dif serviced at 60,0000 miles seems reasonable and still pretty conservative to me. I’ll be very interested to hear the results of the transmission fluid tests!

Hey Jim! Yes sir, tornadoes ran through our area over the weekend. Quite a bit of damage south of me, unfortunately. But my property wasn't damaged. Good for me, bc I was wrenching on the bottom of an old Chevy the whole time. Lol. I had the dealer do the diff fluid service around 60-70k miles. I haven't changed the fluid since then.. Bad on me, I know. But I can attest to the fluid lasting close to 200k miles without a hiccup.

Great video as always and I love following this journey since I have a 2019 Ram Longhorn. I am curious though, have you addressed the timing chain/belt? I know the rule of thumb had been to replace the “belt” at 100,000 miles on vehicles. So just curious if your truck still has the original one on it?

Isnt the air system for the air bags a sealed nitrogen system so the moisture that is being introduced is not good for the total system longevity I’d recommend vacuuming the system before you refill with nitrogen into the closed loop system Might want to upgrade to a better air compressor that has a metal compressor housing that’s better than the plastic one

Have you run into the leaky 3rd brake light or top antenna? Only got 70k on my 2019 and it leaks...their is a factory warranty cover, but working with dealer is a headache.

I had to change my rear window for a small leak. Warranty covered it. Otherwise I had that and new back brakes at 80,000 Kilometers. Something was wrong for a brand new 2019 to prematurely wear out the brakes. And I had mostly highway miles and don’t tow. Ya… otherwise great great truck

QQ: Did you do anything with the OEM windshield? Mine is getting some road rash, not stone cracks but small scratches from wind+sand blasting. Very uncomfortable to drive towards the sunset. Im out of ideas but replace and put armor film on top of it

My OEM windshield got TONS of rock chips. Eventually is developed a pretty big crack. They wanted $1,500 for an OEM replacement. I opted for an $1,100 aftermarket replacement. Once I got it in, I put a ceramic coating on it and I haven't gotten a single rock chip. That was 100k miles ago.

My 2019 (80,000 miles) has an air leak (i'm assuming it's the front driver side bag), it works for now but IDK if I'm going to do an air suspension delete or replace the bag and potentially compressor.

@LAncegtavicer I would check and make sure they won't warrant the air bag/ suspension under warranty. I am not talking about the stealership either. I believe FCA posted something about it a while back. I know you will find something on 5th Gen Ram forums. Either way good luck.
