TRUCKER GETTING LOST IN PA! Trucking in a 379 Pete

Trucking is not always sunshine and rainbows! This video shows what can happen when you're in a new town, and trying your best to navigate through with a big truck. I'm heading out a different way than I went in, and what do you know! They throw in a low bridge and an 8 ton weight limit the other way. THEN when I make it back on the main route, they have a little ol sign saying THREE OR MORE AXLE TRUCKS, NO RIGHT TURN even though it's a State Highway!! Gotta find a new route on the fly...
Shot on a Cannon M50 with the kit lens. I'm also trying out a new camera angle here, let me know what you guys think of it! Got the idea from fellow youtuber MikeOfTheNorth, check him out! • Peterbilt 379 18 speed...
Truck: 2006 Peterbilt 379
CAT C15 MXS Single Turbo
And yes, the ONLY reason I went under the bridge is because 13'5" is only 1" shy of legal max height. I know my stacks have a couple inches of wiggle room from max height, but I was hesitant of the height of the new to me roll-tite trailer I was dragging behind me. It is NEVER a good idea to go under a low bridge. Many trucks have found out the hard way...

Looks like you were over somewhere between delmont and new stanton. I live in pa and yes, they'll run you 20 miles out of the way instead of letting you make a right turn. Most of the towns, the roads are too dam small and god forbid we need to use the whole intersection for 10 seconds. Still not as bad as running a long wheelbase with a 48' spread on a 7 stop run to the lumber yards in DC. That city is all one ways. If you miss a turn its 3 hrs to get back around most of the time. Greensburg is not truck friendly at all! I've driven motorcoach transit buses in that area and that turn by the "No Right Turn for Three Or More Axle Trucks" is a tight turn in a bus. I wouldn't want to attempt that in a truck. And yes, PA has too many toll roads.

Hey man! Another comment for you. Could you explain how you came to a complete stop, starting at 6:17? I just started CDL school last weekend and our first module was gear shifting. I saw you dropped it to first gear AFTER a complete stop? I’m a little confused
@callthemall
@callthemall 3 жыл бұрын
Yep! At any point in any gear, you can clutch in and brake to a complete stop. As long as you leave it in gear, the transmission will stop with the drivetrain, and then you can shift it into first gear. Hope this helps! I’m planning on doing a video explaining as much as I can about shifting these transmissions sometime soon.
