it’s not called a volvo t cab, it’s the NH16. look up Volvo NH12 and you’ll see that they used to make european conventional cabs (like the american Volvo VNL) with the globetrotter cab

Bit more of an exciting day than I had! - a 65 plate R450 with 700 odd thousand on the clock, but still seems to run as well as the day it was made, and a curtain side trailer with pallets of doors and frames for a building site in the middle of wembley, bugger it was tight! Not a scratch to add to her, though!

Trucket Tim. From what i heard those 4 trucks made T-cabs: Scania, Volvo(they even got in the USA T-cabs), DAF And Iveco. The DAF one is called DAF XT and Iveco Strator.

​@@editimisescu7945 there is a big difference between the US volvo's and the T-cabs in europe tho. In the US Volvo makes the trucks 100%. In europe Volvo doesnt make a T-cab at all. Also its a completely different noose and the cab itself is a lot different. A US Volvo isnt even allowed to drive in europe because its not getting through our crashtests. A US Volvo and a T-cab are 2 completely different things and not comparable. Also, from the DAF were only 2 T-cabs made. The Iveco are made by Iveco itself and not a third party like Vlastuin

I’ve always loved these T-Cabs, didn’t know what they were called, I’ve always loved trucks since my childhood, what is the purpose of the Tcabs as opposed to the normal flat faced ones 😅, this is all new to me, thank you in advance. I went to America once and there vehicles, wow wow wow…. Like a proper camper can in the back also ❤

They're in fact called "bonneted" or "hooded" trucks". In America they're usually called "conventional". T stands for "Torpedo" and it has officially been used only by Scania. Scania made their last own T-cab in 2005. "Flat face" is called "Cab over engine" or coe.

cab overs are probably more economical (short truck, more space for trailer) , so they took over the market. Americans don't have so many rules about truck lengths so they kept with the traditional ones

Still not got the hang of how the auto handbrake works 😂 Press the A button underneath it, A for auto it will then be the last time you will ever touch the handbrake switch. If you open the door, turn it off or take your seatbelt off the handbrake comes on as well as every time you come to a standstill. I’m surprised the Scania man didn’t explain how it works.

Not going to lie this is by far one of my favourite videos and knowing crouch I not far from me only up a few roads and I've got my car now so yeah definitely looking out for this one. Tim, pro tip for pronouncing dutch. when you see 'ij' (like in nijmegen) it's pronounced as 'y'. so for example, nijmegen sounds more like nymegen. in dutch we have the short y (written as 'ei') and the long y (written as 'ij') they are both pronounced the same.

Amazing videos and super entertaining. But can someone please explain why people pay serious money for a T cab conversion (and I assume its at least 75-150k on top of the base truck price)? Other than the looks the benefits are not obvious. The manufacturers are not stupid, there must be a reason Scania stopped selling factory T cabs. Volvo makes them in the US obviously but thats a different market with different rules.

Scania stopped making them in 2005 due to dramatically decreased demand during the previous ten years, especially in South America, which is a big market for Scania. In fact T stays for "Torpedo" and is used officially only by Scania. They're commonly called "hooded" or "bonneted" trucks. Volvo used the letter N, which stands for "nose". Why? Well, why do people pay a lot for example a Ferrari in countries with strict speed limits when they can get more comfortable, more reliable and more practical cars for much less money? I think it's pretty much the same 😊

Get over that that T-cab over a cabover, no pun intended. It is about the dream of neither sitting on the engine nor sitting on the steering axle. Only those who have driven both can tell the difference. But agreed, the T-cab is a fail in the UK, I can state that because without a cabover it would be impossible to drive neither in London nor in the country roads I have been in the UK. The bottom line is there is no advantage at all, much for the contrary. In my case it is just about the dream of not being in Europe, but back in America. Somehow I got stuck here, and it sucks.
