I'm from Central California and we just had a winter/wind storm pass through this weekend. It rains in California and it snows in the mountain ranges from winter to spring. Since we are currently in a drought we appreciate any rain/snow we get as it helps California water levels which is needed to grow crops and etc. With Climate change here in the recent years you kind of never know what kind of weather you'll encounter.

A Truck With No Name On the first part of the journey, I was looking at all the life. There were plants and birds. and rocks and things, There was sand and hills and rings. The first thing I met, was a fly with a buzz, And the sky, with no clouds. The heat was hot, and the ground was dry, But the air was full of sound. I've been through the desert in a truck with no name, It felt good to be hauling again. In the desert you can remember your name, 'Cause there ain't bears to give you no pain. La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la After two days, in the desert sun, My truck began to turn red. After three days, in the trucking fun, I was looking at a river bed. And the story it told, of a river that flowed, Made me sad to think it was dead. You see I've been through the desert in a truck with no name, It felt good to be hauling again. In the desert you can remember your name, 'Cause there ain't no bears to give you no pain. La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la After nine days, I let the truck in park, 'Cause the desert had turned to sea. There were plants and birds, and rocks and things, There was sand and hills and rings. The ocean is a desert, with its life underground, And a perfect disguise above. Under the cities lies, a heart made of ground, But the truckers will give no love. You see I've been through the desert in a truck with no name, It felt good to be hauling again. In the desert you can remember your name, 'Cause there ain't no bears to give you no pain. La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

The turn right on red law started back in the 1970's when we had an oil crisis in the US. The idea was that cars wouldn't have to sit and wait for the light to turn green and therefore wouldn't have to stop and then speed back up. The cars back then just drank fuel and this was an easy way to help people save gas during the shortage
@gary25120899 жыл бұрын
It snows in Northern, Central and Southern California. Being from So Cal first snow I've ever seen was on the San Bernardino mountains. So you'd always have a snow capped mountain backdrop. The first place I'd ever seen snowfall was in Tehachapi in Central California. So it's not unusual to get snow in California.
@JayButcher11279 жыл бұрын
The right on red is pretty cool, it keeps traffic flowing. But, here is one that will blow your mind. Left on red, if turning from a one way road, onto another one way road. If you can picture it in your mind, your not crossing a lane of traffic at the point, and only "merging" in essence. What makes it tricky, is a 4 way intersection wanting to make the "right on red" at the same time. Dumb fact I figured you would enjoy.
@shawnwarehime9 жыл бұрын
I'm in Fresno California and sometimes there's no rain for the whole year sometimes it's 90 degrees F and it rains. It's very weird. ALSO California has snow in the high mountains all winter. Highest speed limit here is 70mph, most of our highways are 65mph. We haves places in Cali where you have to use headlights during the day for dust and fog areas and tunnels too!
@sexy00189 жыл бұрын
I'm enjoying this ATS, and this may have been mentioned, but in America, we do not have yield signs on our interstate entrance ways and most of our interstates are more than two lanes. Also at intersections with lights, we have left turn lights that allow left turners to proceed before the straight through traffic can go. Just food for thought for SCS.
@CarsonSchmidt4199 жыл бұрын
In any turning lane, the leftmost lane goes to the leftmost lane, and the 2nd lane goes into the 2nd lane. Never do you go from leftmost lane to second, or otherwise.

No matter how well lit a tunnel is, always have your headlights on. As a matter of fact, ALWAYS have your headlights on. Those are the only ones that are ALWAYS legal (side lights only is illegal at night). Could you inform me when your headlights aren't allowed? (Talking about main beam, not high beam). But, back to the tunnel stuff. If the power in the tunnel drops for some reason, the entire tunnel will suddenly be blacked out. You'll be very happy you had your headlights on then. Also: Squirrel 2016, about a jet plane: "That thing was flying!". Oh really Paul? ;)

in fact a 10 speed isnt gonna give you a better MPG than a 18 if you use the right gear at the right rpm. American trucks are designed to be runned between 1300 and 1500 rpm, so at your cruise speed you should run an average og 1400-1450 rpm to hit the fuel economy range of the engine. In term of the gears, the only thing that's gonna change is that when you'll pull heavier loads you're gonna have less trouble pulling it with a 13 or a 18 speed transmission because of the gear ratio and the RPM difference between gears.
@dirtyann9 жыл бұрын
Yeah. With the right gearing you can drive a rig at virtually any speed and get a nice mpg. I drive too but I'm a company driver. But I'm planning on getting my own truck in a few years.

I can't help but feel like the map is absolutely tiny. It's a really big disappointment to me, especially after being in development for as long as it has. And they only plan to add Arizona for free? It looks like the stock ETS2 map was way bigger. And let's not even mention the pitiful amount of trucks available at launch (yes, I understand licensing issues). I guess I hope it is released at a really cheap price and the modders will do a good job at expanding the map. If not, I'll be waiting a few years for a complete version with a very deep Steam Sale.

One of the things in ETS2 I noted was the location of the stoplights. In the US stoplights are always on the far side of the intersection, so you can see the lights. In Europe the stop lights are frequently right overhead when you stop. That's...odd, and irritating. I sometimes have to change camera views to see the light.
@flickinggamer9 жыл бұрын
Most tunnels should have a "turn headlights on" sign before the tunnels. When you made the left turn at the light, the red light was for the traffic crossing the other way. You were fine proceeding through the intersection. Your rolling stops at the stop signs would get you a ticket if a cop was there.

in answer to your in game commentary, yes it snows in california. if you take I-8 out of San Diego to Yuma, Arizona in the winter they sometimes have chain laws in effect. also on I-80 from Reno,Nevada to Sacramento, California in the winter they have chain laws in effect many times. snow falls in high elevation and California has the Sierra Nevada Mountains on its border with Nevada and Arizona. You should really write to one of the large trucking companies in the US like CR England or US Express and ask if you can go on a ride along. do a video series about that. i think it would be interesting from the perspective of a European Truck Simulator player. You could do comparisons between the trucks/trailers, fuel stops, state scales, etc.

People out here WILL drive with their convertible tops down, and then wonder why they're wet. We do drive through puddles for fun, then hydroplane and crash into eachother.
