Trucking Over The Chesapeake Bay Bridge In Maryland

Having driven over that bridge numerous times in my 4wheeler I can't wait until I'm dispatched a load to Delaware. Love that bridge, it's 4 miles long. Cross the bridge in summer time and they routinely have one of the lanes open to oncoming traffic. A little side note about that bridge it envokes fear in so many people that there is or at least was a service provided where a person will drive your car over the bridge for you.

As someone who spent a decade living in New England, you guys definitely need to make the trip to New Hampshire and Maine. The White Mountains are absolutely beautiful, as is Maine. Fall is a great time to visit, if you like seeing the leaves change color! You won’t regret it.

Every year in November the eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland is closed for a race called Bay Bridge Run but back in the day the race was called Across the Bay 10K. A lot of people run the race each year but the Covid-19 pandemic stopped everything in its tracks. The westbound span is open for 2 way traffic for the race so only the left lane is open to eastbound traffic. The 2 right lanes are for westbound traffic. The traffic can be very heavy during the event and it can take a while.

There is actually a service that will drive your car for you across this bridge. Because so many who need to use this bridge daily but cannot handle the stress, they use this service.

Try driving on that bridge empty during a windy thunderstorm, it’ll make you turn the radio off lol. I’ve seen a 53ft dry van trailer turn into a Kite 🪁 a couple of years ago

Have you drive on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, between Norfolk, VA., and Fishers Island, MD.,I think that's the name of the place, it's about 30 Miles long and has 2 tunnels. Nice drive.

We were in Virginia Beach awhile back and wanted to take the 23 mile ride on The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. There was a toll just one way then. Now you pay a toll both directions. It was a very nice experience. Stopping on one of the islands before entering a tunnel is something fun to do. There is a restaurant there with awesome seafood. You can look out and see some awesome boats and ships out on the water.

I travel over this bridge quite often to get to the eastern shore from other parts of the mid-atlantic. Sometimes the traffic is bad but if you time your crossing it's smooth as can be

I drive over this everyday The first exit off the bridge on the eastern shore is going into my neighborhood(Stevensville) and if you’re a pizza guy there’s a place right here called classic pizza. 24 hour dunkin that’s a truck stop with a dollar general next too it. And all the seafood restaurants The wawa on 50 East in Annapolis right before the bridge is a solid truck stop also., Welcome to Maryland/Delaware! It was cool seeing you drive over the bridge and than bam my exit is where the video cuts lol

Stay off this bridge during summertime as it’s so packed because of ocean city and there’s horrible traffic on it almost everyday and lately alot of suicide attempts that shut it down for hours. Still love living here tho

My old home state, Maryland that is. Crossed that bridge 100’s of times going to the Eastern Shore. Once you cross to the eastern side and get past Kent Island the personality of the locals totally changes, much more relaxed than the western side of the state, especially Central Md between DC and Baltimore. I worked for a competitor when I retired from my career in 2019. Between May and October I was in 47 of the lower 48, only state I didn’t go thru was ND. They ran our team hard, I did 60K miles in that amount of time. I have since heard they have lowered the mileage to 30K before you are cut loose. 🙄 Be safe.

How have you never been through nevada? When I was a trucker, almost always in my 3 weeks out i would get a load from Chicago heading toward LA and leaving LA toward NY amd half the time it would take me through Nevada/ utah/ colorado instead of the southern route.
