That silver thing is your exhaust. I learned my pre- trip on a truck like that. I have the same issue backing in a freightliner. It’s not every time though. I agree with you about the incline, I feel like that plays a part when it becomes more jerky… that and the weight of the load. I really don’t know, just speculation. I’d love to hear from someone who knows how it could be avoided or explain what’s causing it. You’re right, the truck will not respond when you lightly press the gas pedal- it’ll just jerk with the slightest press. One thing I have noticed for me is that it tends to do jerk more when my wheel is in a hard turn. When I let out of the turn a bit the jerking eases a bit. 🤷🏾‍♀️ definitely an annoying aspect

Hey Niesha I'm proud of you my sister keep doing your thing I'm an old school stick driver I still prefer driving a stick over auto transmission but when I drive an auto I usually apply the brakes litely while backing up and it works for me. Maybe that will work for you. Be Safe.

That silver thing on the left side of your truck is the smoke stack; the exhaust. Most newer trucks now because of current emissions law, they are mounted under the truck.

Girl😅 you mean exhaust stack and heat exchanger on KW driver side. Your KW should also have smaller round or square mirrors under your big side mirrors which serve as a blind spot mirrors (same as hood mirrors just higher). You can request them to be put on if they are not installed. Great work backing regardless of the issues you had.👍

@Niesha K, yeah, it doesn't make sense. I'm a truck driver also, I'm out on medical leave, and I had foot surgery. I do miss it. I've been driving years, but before I got my class A, I had a class B and drove a concrete truck and school bus and tractor trailer 19 years.

Try switching on your axle diff to fix the jerking while you back..Just remember to turn them off when you start to drive normally,You could damage the drive axle's.

I'm a decent backer. I drive sleepers tho the extra feet it adds to backing makes it slightly more difficult than day cab I can just imagine and I never drove a day cab. I pull mostly '45 so it's easier to blindside those if I need to . The '53 is what I don't like to pull omg those things add so much u necessary feet . 😊

Learning spanish has been something I have said I need to learn being I have a lot of customers on my route that don't speak english. Generally the children have to translate to their parents what i am saying to them: like if they need to sign for something or they need to pay for this or need to do something. Appreciate the insert of the app. When I had to drive and train on the double stack or a truck that had two exhaust mufflers it partial blocked my view out the driver side versus having the single stack or exhaust muffler on the passenger side.
