Winter trucking trick from an old school hand. Always keep an old metal coffee can full of sand and 2 bottles of rubbing alcohol. If you break down pour 1whole bottle in the sand and lite it. Leave your windows slightly cracked. You will stay warm as toast for a couple of hours. Old man taught me that 30yrs ago

Be cautious with those Buddy heaters. They can be temperamental. A competitor has come out with one which has a built in thermostat. Saves on propane, and gives you more predictable temperature control. At one point in this video, I saw a pickup pass you, pull ahead a good distance, then signal his intentions before moving into your lane. I wish we saw more of that good road behavior.

I helps to not park nose first into the wind, either. I learned that driving COEs, which aren't great at producing heat in the first place. Woke up one morning to an engine temp of about 130 and cold air coming out the defroster vents.. and of course I forgot my winter front (actually had bought a new one and didn't bring it)so had to cardboard the grille til I got home
@dicksteffen10253 жыл бұрын
Ran one of those back in 77-79. We had a couple of horrible winters those years in the midwest. I ran with my winter front buttoned up almost all the way all the time those years, when the roads weren't shut down.

Porter greetings! 😎 So you’re saying that we sometimes have to make the same ROOKIE MISTAKES at the beginning of the winter season just to remind ourselves not to do that again?! LOL!🧐 Do you normally get your air filters from the dealer? Does your local NAPA carry them as well? I’ve gotten mine at NAPA and they’re a few $$ less there. 🤩 I think the last time I bought one it was about $75 or so. Better be keeping a close eye on those new thermostats.🧐 I tell you one of my secrets to good MacNCheese…add some extra colbyjack cheese to it and let it melt into the pot. YUMM!! Stay safe! 😎🥰🇺🇸✌️
@truckingwithschmidt71203 жыл бұрын
Yes usually, no napa doesn't carry them.
@the.porter.productions3 жыл бұрын
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 🇺🇸 NAPA is who I get most of my parts from. If they don’t have it when I need it then I either order it or get it somewhere else, but I’m a loyal customer of theirs. They usually take good care of me or at least try. I know those filters are quite expensive and some places don’t carry parts like that. Some places won’t have the fuel filters in stock for a big truck. I had to order online and wait a,couple of days to replace them, so I ordered an couple extra filters to have on my shelf. Hope that you get your truck winterized soon. Take care my friend! ✌️
