A chrome grill is going to look very out of place when everything else is orange and black. I would do a paintable grill, paint it body color and the honeycomb in the grill gloss black. Chrome is not gonna look good on that thing.

No chrome pops on orange and black i had a orange and black gsxr1000 and went with chrome wheels i got the most compliments on that bike then any other bike ever and as soon as fall hits and Halloween comes around its a great time to have that color blends in for fall foliage also

Just a fantastic job. Hat's off to all the guys there at the shop. They are fantastic and it shows in the work they are doing. In addition to the training and education they are providing you and allowing you to be there and work alongside them. The finish and quality is just going to be fantastic. Great color choice. Of all the sorting and decisions in choosing. You chose the right one. As for the bow tie on the grill. Satin black is going to be the proper contrast. Down the road you could possibly do a pinstripe. Come in a quarter of a inch..... and the do a single line outline of the bow tie.. 1/8th or 3/16 inch thick. You made ref as to thought of cost for the job. PRICELESS. No offense at all to the shop and the guys there. They are going above and beyond... this is show quality. However, unfortunately and understandable... no shops do or take in a full restoration / custom and all the bodywork..job like this anymore. With the exception of a very few ... very few. Full custom shops. Everyone else has gone the route of "collision repair " insurance jobs only. Look at the price he quoted for just the one "color " paint... add in EVERYTHING else.. I would estimate 50k easily. Not to mention it would be in the shop far a long time. Much more cost effective for the shop to just do collision repair. Than full on restoration jobs. Or even just a repaint type job. Which is sad, but simply a sign of the times. However.... with the increasing cost of new vehicles. People are going to be repeating history and looking at keeping what they have. Then just doing a repaint. Honestly it is why the rat rod or patina look as made such a come back. Shoot with a satin flat clear coat and go with it...This is going to be a beautiful truck when it is finished. But the devil is in the details... and that's where the time and patience pays off. 😎👍

This whole deal has been so cool to watch. I agree with another comment about the chrome grill not fitting in with the overall package. I would be curious to know your cost on this (if you’re willing) but more so if someone they didn’t know had them do it. Anyway, this will be one more bad ass truck.

I think that a paintable grill is the move orange grill black honeycomb and a blue bow tie . Not my money where spending though. Also money wise on tear down and all the rust repair your probably looking at 8-10 range?

Roughly 15k for painting and stripping fully. Obviously prices very but my buddies father owns a local body shop and both of my buddies work there and I previously talked to them about a price on painting a 2024 Chevy 2500hd 6.6 gasser from the frost white color to a hunter green and they said it’ll be roughly 15k with stripping everything down and doing it the correct way by painting everything including the covered sections. It’s funny because my great uncle used to own their exact shop back in the 80s and 90s could be early 2000s too I’m unsure. My father worked there when it was my uncles shop and I’ve worked there a couple times being my buddies families shop. Also for the emblem Matte black with orange accents to blend it in. If it was newer emblem you could trace the edges and have the orange towards the middle without it looking like it was just layed over the black.

the honeycomb on the grill needs to be the orange color and the bowtie needs to be the matte black. honestly what wouldve been better is a paintable grill thats orange, the honey comb matte black and bowtie orange. the truck has come a long way from being a 3500$ rusted pos off of marketplace lol. bet the old owner is punching the air right now seeing what youve turned this truck in to 😂. hopefully one day i can do like a quater of what has been done to this to my slightly rusted lb7
