If there’s an exception for the aboriginals then that’s discrimination to the rest of Canadians . Firearms were brought here by the Europeans who really are the ones to claim guns as a traditional means of hunting . Aboriginals before the Europeans used spears , bows and arrows and chased buffalo off of cliffs as a means of hunting game . They solely cannot claim exclusive rights to specific guns for hunting . Gun owners have to stop asking but start demanding !!!
@TheWaytoNativeChronicles23 күн бұрын
You can look at it another way though. See it like you would regard inheritance rights. If your father had a huge mansion on 50 square miles of land and you inherited it, would that be racial discrimination? Then take it further: Suppose a government wanted to obtain the land from him and, not able to come up with sufficient money to buy (or if the man wasn't interested in money), instead worked out the following agreement with him: In exchange for you giving us the land for nothing, we will guarantee that all your ancestors will still be able to use it for hunting. Would that be racial discrimination? The answer is obviously "No" in both cases. It is a deal made with a bunch a person (or group of people that person is the head of) in exchange for peaceful transfer of their land with guarantees provided to make the deal desirable for both parties. That's how deals work and, if it were not done that way back then, it would be challenged in the Supreme Court today (like is being done in B.C. that side-stepped that and just took it). So it's a good thing we did it that way. Western nations thrive on stability and predictability in order to attract investments. And then your last objection about firearms: That's even easier. Are you aware that, at the time treaties were signed (in western Canada anyway), all the Indians already had firearms and hunted with them? Obviously, the treaties were made with that understood. Thanks for your comment.

@@TheWaytoNativeChronicles But,the issue here is who can own an SKS and who can’t . We simply cannot have a two tier system as to who can own specific weapons and who can’t . We all came from somewhere else , some before others ; that simply cannot give you specific rights over other groups .
@TheWaytoNativeChronicles22 күн бұрын
@@michaelkennedy4444 this depends a lot on how you wish to view it. Another way is to view those (essentially) constitutional rights natives have as one of the only solid barriers we have on our side when it comes to recognizing our right to own firearms. Due to the way treaty obligations are embedded in the Constitution, politicians and the courts can never unilaterally outlaw the ownership of guns because, in order to exercise the rights guaranteed to them by treaties, natives MUST be able to own firearms. So it's actually a very good thing that your previous claim about only to bows & arrows and spears applying is completely unfounded. Good thing the treaties were made with gun-owning natives in mind! Now I can see that a special right for them to own the SKS rifles may stick in some peoples' craw, but it's really based on the fact that first nations people are often poor and the only rifles they can afford are those cheap SKS guns, so it still affirms (in a round about way) the inability of the government to take guns away... from them, at the very least. And that right they have makes it much harder for the government to then outlaw gun ownership from the rest of the Canadian population, for the same equal rights reasons you began with. Get what I mean?

@@TheWaytoNativeChronicles Many people used the 303 Lee Enfield Rifle for hunting , I,personally knew two people with lesser means who used these for hunting . Having watched a few of your videos I believe you mentioned being married to an aboriginal woman which would lead to some bias on your part . @@michaelkennedy4444 well, as far a bias goes, at least it's informed by some real life experience. You conjecture that no native people on reserves are poor, which reveals a lack of it. Remember that, as far as treaty rights are concerned it goes back over 100 years; none of this is new or based on some socialist, woke way of thinking. You don't like the deal made back then, which is your right of opinion, but it doesn't alter the fact that such a deal is part of Canadian law. O'Toole, as bad as he was, would not have done this. And just like how the Tories in the UK threw out Teresa May and replaced her with Boris Johnson, the CPC in Canada could also have thrown out O'Toole after they won the majority and replaced him with someone like Pierre Polivoire.

That way, the conservatives are not competing for PPC voters and the PPC is not competing for conservative voters. I wrote a comment on how Indian children were treated at the mission school in Whitehorse and my article was censored, presumably as hate speech. I'm 85 and have a long memory. I'm also a writer. When I was growing up, our family was poor. My dad came from a large family, was a WWII Vet. He knew the bush in Alberta and parts of B.C, was an outfitter, sometimes a guide, and a pilot, but there were few flying jobs. My mum's family survived the Great Depression with 6 kids to feed, and was working by the time today's kids are today in Grade 10. They had to save for 7 years after getting married before they could afford to have kids. Our house was tiny, even for that time. The area was bush & forest - wonderful to grow up in. Hunting was the main source for meat. We had a big garden, and did a lot of berry picking and such. A neighbor had a few dairy cows, so we had milk, and "farm cheese." The few families in the area were good neighbors - everyone helped everyone. My grandparents and great-grandparents' family Bibles record births, deaths and marriages for the family in north-central Alberta from (at least) 1860. Hunting has always been a necessity, if anyone was to eat. But Trudeau tells the urban swarms in Toronto that people like me and all the other members of our family have no traditions, no culture, and have never needed guns. I wonder what my grandmother - still a dead-eye wing shot at about 90 - would have said about that? My father, a "woods man" in the true sense, or my mother, who'd learned to shoot from her father, a First World War Vet, using a Ross rifle? (Sure wish I had that one). She learned to be a good shot, she said, because, "they couldn't afford many shells." They're gone now, and I'm the Steward of their memories, experiences and traditions. Those are more real than Trudeau's cynical, shallow inventions. Thanks for making this - it's greatly appreciated.

Canadian people need to stand up together for basic rights
@HondoTrailside Жыл бұрын
This isn't a Trudeau problem, it is a Canadian people problem. They are convinced they are the nice people, and it only takes a handful of them to keep a government in power, but most Canadians, at least we are told supported martial law, and the illegal mandates.

I feel for my neighbors to the north. I own guns and hunt a little every year with them. It may come down to a necessity pretty soon. I cannot use a compound bow anymore. Too many shoulder injuries and surgeries. I have a crossbow permit because of disabilities (state of WV) but I wouldn't want to depend on it for food and protection. I hope it never comes to a showdown. I'm old and only a handful of people would miss me but I believe I would fight to keep my rights accorded to me by the Constitution.

It’s good to hear from someone who lives on the land. I’m surprised hearing that the model ‘94 Winchester is banned! I used to carry this 30:30 calibre in the woods and mountains.It’s been the #1 bush gun for the last century with trappers, prospectors, settlers, indigenous hunters, cowboys and ranchers and more. Did you know that while this is not a high powered rifle it is the most used and more grizzlies have been killed by a 30:30 Winchester than any other rifle. Now if a grizzly were charging you how many cartridges would you like for your carbine to hold? Now what has this to do with crime and public safety in the big cities where gangs sell illegal guns smuggled from the U.S.? I’m just trying to figure this out. I think because the Liberal party has a powerful coalition they are drunk with power and feel that they can do anything without repercussions. This is such a bad step for our democracy. The government are liars and a tyrant how can this be good?

They are playing some very dirty games with us legal firearm owners. My PAL renewal has been in limbo for over 6 months now. My current PAL expired 2 months ago and I had to transfer all my rifles and shotguns to a relative, including my 1899 .303 Savage that was originally my great-grandfather's gun, which has been passed down from father to son, right up to me. I can't get an answer other than "Your renewal is on the desk of the CFO and we have no idea how long it will take for them to finalize your renewal..." I know damn well what they are playing at and it's infuriating.

trudeaus hatred for anything related to guns is ridiculous, I know this is a firearm video but he also snuck airsoft into the pistol freeze. Airsoft is basically a toy, you can't kill someone with a moderately powered one (200-450 fps). So he's not only taking away law abiding citizens guns, but he's also taking away what's basically a toy that looks like a real gun, that can only be used in sport similar to paintball. Personally, sounds like fear to me.

@@johnyoungs7453 Sorry for the late answer bro. Good point, you are correct in saying that. Only thing is, most airsofters know going to a match with exposed skin is a no go. As long as you wear the correct clothing and know how to be safe, a normally powered airsoft will only give you some bruising or red marks. Your clothing slows the bb significantly.

The fact that aboriginals make heavy use of the SKS (due to their low price) held back his hand, I think.

Thanks Edwin. That's high praise! I plan to continue to keep on working and researching the issues that affect us (easier to do, now that I'm retired). Here in the states the days of cheap SKS's are long gone, lucky to find one under 300 nowadays. I have family in NB and they're not complying in hopes that an eventual new PM will reverse the legislation. They need them for their farm and country life, a real necessity. But just like here in the states, the rich elites in office don't care about the people. Don't know if you'll read this but if so, best of luck to you and keep fighting the good fight.
