It definitely has to be in the running as I can’t really think of another that had this level of excellence in every aspect. Deadwood’s debut season was another home run for HBO, and is on my list , also the first season of Mr. In-Between but True Detective’s debut is at the top. I loved it and bought it immediately when it was available on Apple, but in my haste I bought the French version. Realized my mistake and bought the English version.

Hi........so glad you're picking up with this series, and you will be hard-pressed to find better television anywhere, anytime (Season 1 specifically.......the rest, frankly, don't measure up)........btw: this season's creator, Nic Pizzolatto, said that he tried to make the surrounding towns/countryside "characters" in the show.........and I really believe he accomplished that .......hope you enjoy Season 1 half as much as I did.................thanks for posting. I enjoyed watching it again with you. Wayne

18:19 I LOVED The Following! My husband would ask how I could watch "that sick stuff" in a tone that mocks his grandfather, but II used to tell him it wasn't THAT bad, but he just had terrible timing and ALWAYS came in literally seconds before some violent act would happen.

Who is watching this season or rewatching it and feels more attuned to the story after watching Hannibal the series. The Antlers being a sign of the Stag, the stag being the king of the Forest. A headdress meant to emulate the stags power while also being a sacrifice kneeling before some dark god. In McConaughey voice

@@LatetotheParty Honestly, I'm all for being thorough when watching shows, but Seasons 2 & 3 just get it wrong for whatever reason. Season4 returns to the chilling tone of the 1st season and has some direct links if you can spot them. Great reaction so far guys.
