If I had to guess... and I'm only guessing because this show was so stupid.... she walked out into the ice and became a ghost like Travis, sort of like the Jedi from Star Wars when they die and become force projections. lol The Caribou might have got infected from the polluted permafrost that was leaking into the water and went nuts. No clue about the tongue. I read supposedly Hank cut it out to "send a message", what ever that means. Honestly this show is just way too dumb to waste time trying to figure out. It's almost as if it was written by someone with brain damage.

What was the deal with Danvers seeing some kind of residue under the table where the tongue was found?! Are we supposed to get what the whole tongue clue was about from that? Why did Navarro disappear without telling anyone where she was going? The weird shot of her walking out into nowhere in the snow with light clothing seemed to suggest that she was *going to be with Julia*, like *she* kept calling her to do. And in the end shot of Danvers at the lake house, I don't think Navarro was there in the flesh. I think this meant to convey that her spirit was there with Danvers, and Danvers accepted that spirits were real.

Agree whole season messy and tried to cover way too many topics/agendas in this season. I don't want to ever watch it again. Big disappointment would have appreciated dropping the spiritual and crazy mental health since it didn't have any reason in it. Should have covered the story of people. If a corporation had that much money and that close to this type of discovery they would have sent in big guns to protect. A measly town of people rioting wouldn't have shut it down or killed and stopped it. Trying to cover global warming, men, mental health, crazy spiritual aspects, season 1 connections, women are better than men,...etc pick your battle and really flesh it out in a series don't try to redo everything you think is wrong with the world with women heroes conquering it all ? IDK really bad writing/imagination/story line. Disappointed.

I think the best parts of this season involved Liz’s grief. There were some nice sentimental moments. Great acting by the leads and nice cinematography. That’s what kept me watching up to the last episode. The plot was awful. The scientist murders could have been solved based on the fingerprints already from episode 2 (most KZbinrs caught this one). The scientist motivation to have the mine pollute more the water does not make any sense from a physics point of view (it was really hilarious😂). Assuming that these guys were truly looking for a microorganism, we are talking about some high level research. And Annie managed to understand everything just based on scribbles?! Having goddess Sedna lead Annie to the truth is actually a way more realistic explanation 😂😂😂 this is a very weak plot when it comes to the actual mystery. And it’s a pity for a show called true DETECTIVE.

• You’re telling me a group of scientists hear a commotion in the ice cave, find a guy murdering a girl and they all start joining in on killing her without saying a word?! 😂 that is so unbelievable like cmon. • when all the cleaning ladies start walking in the room when they are saying they did it was so corny • Why didn’t the cleansing ladies get any of the men in the town to help them? This was a clear point the writer was trying to make that women are powerful, okay sure but extremely illogical & unrealistic . • why lead the viewers on with ties to the first season and finding the ancient bones and this discovery the scientists made which btw they NEVER told us what that even was!! Then completely turn the story about strong women forensic expert cleaning ladies seek revenge… smh • you’re telling me 12 women broke into this lab, rounded up all the scientists, manage to load them all in a truck, drive them out into the tundra and release them to freeze without one single bit of evidence left besides a hand print on the cave door latch 😂 man cmon. • why did Danvers and lavarro make a fire when they had a car with a heater.. and who the hell takes a nap while you just broke the biggest case ever. Just so many things that were so unrealistic just to make the narrative, so frustrating since I really enjoyed the seasons build up. Worst ending since Game of thrones.

Clark kills the woman he loves to continue his important research (to help humanity) but feels so guilty he makes a video confession, but is still a remorseless killer locking Danvers up to freeze to death and attempting to kill Navarro. All these violent killer scientists are eating popcorn, watching movies, making cute sandwich videos for loved ones far away… The writer doesn’t seem to think the evil men need to be fleshed out as characters and make sense in their motivations. It’s ironic she dehumanizes men and treats them like disposable stereotypes similar to the way female characters have been portrayed by misogynistic writers.

I thought that it was awesome!!! Yes, a lot of unanswered questions, but this series invites the viewer in to decide those answers - to finish the story. Like a soap opera or good movie, there are openings left purposely to allow for future series and answers. Maybe Navarro does leave to become a new detective somewhere else…maybe Danvers joins her later. I think this series did an excellent job highlighting these two complicated and layered female characters - Danvers & Navarro. We were able to see the battle with their inner demons, while they also were dealing with multiple murders in this very small town. There were many conflicts/themes here >>> advancing science vs preserving nature; prioritizing business greed over preserving a native people’s way of life; varied beliefs systems beyond the human world and respecting those beliefs; truth vs lies; the complications of knowing what is right vs what is wrong; living with the consequences of our life decisions and the battle of light vs darkness. I am a BIG fan of Jodie Foster who is an outstanding actress!Kali Reis also did an amazing acting job with the Navarro character in this series! Look forward to future True Detective mini-series or perhaps continued detective work by Danvers and/or Navarro.

Interesting! I actually thought this was a small triumph. Yes I agree it could have used 2 more episodes and clearly folks want more answers (I was fine with the bucket loads of ambuigity). But the way this subverts the trope of "innocent young women or children are killed and grizzled male detectives try to solve it" by killing those who did harm and the culprits being the overlooked women taken matters in their own hands, was beautiful and for me very emotionally rewarding. I am still scarred from A Murder at the End of the World's ending & thought this was so much better, that perhaps I'm overly biased! I would have liked a better motive for or execution of Annie's killing but thought the women piling on the scientists was a nice mirroring of the scientists piling on Annie.

I saw on your live stream that you read the comments, so I'll post here what I learned about the tongue. From 2 interviews (Issa Lopez and John Hawkes), I gathered that the story is this: Hank was called to move the body, he moves it, cuts out the tongue and leaves it next to the body, at the dump site, to send a message. Local people find it and keep it, because they know the body will be taken by the police. They keep it as a revenge signature, that they ultimately deliver on the night they kill the scientists. I don't know anything about Inupiat culture, but I guess it's plausible. Now, the residue that Danvers finds, weeks later, under the table, where the tongue was... maybe only Danvers sees that - like the polar bear or Navarro seeing wet footprints.

This show was about women and shining a light on native women and how horribly they have been treated over the years and continue to be treated that way.

Interesting that they chose to have Navarro go out the way she did considering that is ALSO a major issue amongst native women. Even the "logic" behind what the show is about doesn't make sense.

What about the freaking polar bear? The tongue? Who was rose cooking for? Like, WHAT? I feel like I was robbed of my time. Was a big fan of this show but man, was the ending a let down. I get the Native American roots and pride being a beautiful tie up at the end, but the death of these scientists was just too easy and banal for something like ‘True Detective’. I feel no fear or anything to think about in the end, except that I’m pissed at the writers, director, and show runner.

I don’t feel a show or series needs to spoon feed answer everything. David Lynch’s work for example. BUT THIS AINT DAVID LYNCH! This season had a cool atmosphere and Jodie Foster was great, but overall poorly written and redundant, especially for a short series. It was obviously reluctantly morphed into True Detective as you say. And that really, really hurt not helped. Unfortunately the intent to go “full frontal female” has made defending it a badge of honor for some. Hey if that rocks your boat fine, but it ain’t True Detective - which probably should have been only one season. Good review BTW.

Did Rose dump Travis’s body like the others? “Stories are just stories”, through the season with Danvers on the Wheeler case, Clark on Annie’s murder, and maybe the Revenge Gang the store don’t always describe things as we see them happen. This season finale turn out to be pretty bad & overall the whole season is even more disappointing than season 2 imo. For anyone that looking a far better story with similar setting & themes, I really recommend movie "Wind River" instead & maybe Fargo TV series season 1. The only thing that I missed from my predictions is Raymond Clark being the typical bad guy mad scientist, instead of a disturbed traumatized men who was taking revenge on his own colleagues. Honestly it make no sense for Raymond Clark to even go into hiding from everyone when he didn't even kill the scientists. If anything, he could go to witness protection or maybe being privately secured by Kate (Silver Sky Mining) so they can bury all of their illegal mining stuffs & closing the case permanently on who killed scientists. Everyone suddenly are so dumb somehow, especially in a blizzard. None of that mass psychosis from water poisoning too, just actual supernatural shenanigans. I still don't get how the native ladies came to a conclusion that ALL of the scientists killed Annie K. It was at best purely conjecture from their POVs, just like how they blamed the mine people before it. Annie K found footage also very different with what being shown to us in flashback scenes. She was being grabbed immediately before even destroyed research stuffs. I would argue this lame season is a lame ripoffs of "Wind River" & a bit of "Fargo" too but losing all of its meaningful thematic storytelling IRL problems, especially when it's not grounded & gone supernatural haywire. I would argue it may possibly insulting to the natives too. It's practically a comical storytelling of another female empowerment where all woman are victims (but "strong") while all men are bad or deserve to get shieate on. As expected, the season 1 supposed connections are meaningless baits to attract fandom. I am not even talking about many plot holes & inconsistency of characters behaviors.

The only thing similar to wind river is a native woman was killed. And there was snow. ??? Also, how did the cleaning woman even think to get the drill bit in the secret lab? I'm sure that those weren't public details of the star shaped wounds.??? It was all such a waste of time
@crozraven
@crozraven 6 ай бұрын
@@marklachney420 Not just that, I am talking mainly about the many injustice unsolved cases of killed & missing natives in reservations or frontiers. Wind River covered it a grounded & respectful manner, & covered many more stuffs that involve economical, political, & geographical problems within this so called sovereign lands, or in this show, a fictional town in a border state of last frontier Alaska.

Thank you for this quick review. Ok so I don’t think it was as bad as season 2. The first half was good but the second got sloppy and stupid. I liked this season for the most part bc of the leads and the setting. Nothing will be season 1. So why isn’t Clarke bloody in the video? Wasn’t it taken during the blizzard that night?Kayla treating Peter like he’s a deadbeat husband and father is absurd and annoying. I’ve seen worse finales and the only thing that really irks me is who cut out her tongue? Was the old lady lying? She wanted them to piece it together? Was it Hank? Ugh… but the murder of Annie was horrific just completely tragic and well done. Clark talking about circles and Annie killing the scientists and hiding in caves was beyond stupid and made me cringe. The local ladies behind the scientists deaths was what I was expecting. So nothing surprising. The cross in her hair ….. why? And why Navarros mom still calling to her.. I’m so over it. And the hubcap, the orange again then Liz peels one in the spiral shape. They didn’t even explain the spiral really. Are we supposed to think they’re in a parallel universe? Too much filler in the finale but I was hoping all season Liz would break down. It took falling through the ice to finally break her and talk about Holden. So is Navarro just taking time to heal? She wanted to disappear I guess. I actually did like this season, but I would’ve liked it better without all the supernatural elements or a lot less of them. I think less would’ve been more here and a stronger finale though it was scary and suspenseful at times. But the biggest disappointment for me was that they never tied in the spiral to Tuttle industries or anything to season one. Maybe next time.
