I am perfectly content to fade away. I was once a star pupil and studied chemistry at university. About half way through I snapped and spiraled into a deep depression that I'm still dealing with. Thankfully nobody expects anything of me anymore. My dream of pointing to a photo of researchers and saying "there I am, I helped make that happen" may be in ruins, but life isn't about dreams. It's about making the pain of existence more bearable. Bonus points for making someone else's life more bearable.

We kill cows and chickens and they've never come within a million miles of extinction.
@nedinnis67526 жыл бұрын
Stuart Morrow That's a bit different, eating cows and chickens is legal, so people are free to breed them for that express purpose. Poaching isn't, plus it isn't exactly worth it to try to raise dangerous tigers in the first place, hence why people (poachers) don't farm them and hunt the wild ones, driving them to extinction.
@smorrow6 жыл бұрын
If poaching is actually happening then we have to conclude that there _is_ enough demand for furs or whatever else to make it worth it. Then breeding in captivity should be at least as profitable, and the real reason it doesn't happen is that it's illegal, not that the cons outweigh the pros, which is what you seem to suggest by sentence #2 clause #2-3.
@jakkaljakobie87745 жыл бұрын
Then the Japanese stopped by and said, "Tapir, I have the perfect job for you. How do you feel about eating people's dreams?" And Tapir said, "oh no, I'm happy with my garden salad, thanks." Looking at you, Drowzee

Forgot about the tapir’s ability to eat dreams. That’s pretty badass.

+Sheldon Gregward Glad I gave you an opportunity to correct my grammar and be rude at the same time. Also, I want to note using they as a gender neutral pronoun is somewhat accepted - www.wsj.com/articles/can-they-be-accepted-as-a-singular-pronoun-1428686651

Why the heck did this animal have to run the shop in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
@lilbonsly10 жыл бұрын
You know Drowsee and Munna from Pokemon? It's the same reason, from Japanese myth that Tapir's were creatures who could eat the bad dreams of sleeping people

the word is from Spanish and actually sounds "ta-pir" as in this video. The sound only changed, because that is what English does to all foreign words (like "minute" --- from latin minutus, but developed two pronunciations based on meanings. See oxforddictionaries.com

I've always heard it pronounced in English the way he said it. Also, it's the way it's pronounced in Portuguese and Spanish (though in Brazil people call it an "anta").

"I'm fat and humans love me." Tapir paused. "But they each you." "EACH." The dude narrated his own translatory explosion of syllables. Awesome.
