I was diagnosed with FPIES as an adult several months ago. One of my trigger foods is wheat...was tested several times for Celiac's and allergy tested for wheat and gluten all negative. So if you are experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms and everything keeps coming back negative, ask your allergist about FPIES!!

I get pain in my sciatica when I take in too much gluten and gliadin. Eating the grain free lifestyle is very effective for me to reduce the inflammation in my hip and sciatic area. Seems dropping grains and starches is a great tool in the management of sciatic pain and inflammation.

Same here. Had sciatica since I was a teenager. Stopped when I removed wheat from my diet.

I throw up pretty violently within 30 minutes after eating wheat. I have celiac disease, but does this mean I may also have a wheat allergy? I should ask my doc I guess.

Thank you for this, it was very informative. I have a wheat intolerance and it's nowhere near Coeliac level which a family friend has, but even so it's invasive and at times debilitating enough. My issue is not even with wheat grain but the processed flour that comes from the grain. So it's probably not even gluten related. But I think today's heavy processing methods for the mass market have produced cheap but harsher food, stripped of natural goodness and which is now all but indigestible for many people. I went onto gluten-free bread anyway and although it's a slow road, things have improved. I also think people can build up intolerances for years to some foods (like spices, beans and grains, anything really) until at some point your systems says it's had enough, it's saturated and it goes pop.

Endoscopy is the only sure way to diagnose chronic coeliac disease, rather than a simple wheat allergy or sensitivity.

Can anyone tell me any thoughts on why gluten gives me heart arrhythmias? My gut is perfect eating gluten but my heart can't handle it. I tested negative for celiac but positive for gluten sensitivity. Even the cardiologists are stumped as to why gluten makes my heart freak out. I welcome any thoughts! Thanks! ;-)

I also get heart palpitations after gluten exposure If you are gluten sensitivity i would suggest just cut off all grains diary coffee and other processed food products just eat fresh vegetables eggs fruits meat chicken

As a scientist gluten intolerance is a new thing just like all these other strange exclusive diets. Celiacs disease is a condition where there are issuse with gluten its uncommon and doesnot occur in large amounts of the population its only i the last 10yrs gluten intolerance is a thing we have eaten bread for over thousands of yrs without a single issue. Same for saturated fat Really the issue for me here is we are comparing industrial proceseed breads to old production methods which are not compareable However you can be alergic to wheat in which case its to do with the whole wheat not the gluten as gluten is one of the many other compounds preseant and testing has not bee done to identify the molecules resposnible Organic chemist

I think you're mainly right I think the way we are processing foods and all kinds of stuff nowadays we are just not evolved to handle. And it's showing itself in these ways of being allergic to these things having reactions to these foods. And I think one of the main reasons they're doing it is because it's supposed to help with the problem of population rising and needing to feed more people. And so in a way they're trying to process more food faster than ever before using different methods other than the traditional methods

Processed foods are in indeed in my opinion very unhealthy and can maybe cause a lot of these allergies and auto-immune diseases. But Celiac disease was discovered by a dutch pediatrician during WW2, he noticed that some babies and kids that where very sick before the war suddenly got very healthy during the Hunger Winter of 1944-1945. And they were eating a lot less in that time, which is not what you would expect. So he started to investigate that and found out that wheat was the cause. And nearly all processed food that we are eating today are developed in the past 40 years or so. Decades before Celiac disease was first discovered. So I think that most allergies and auto-immune diseases where always already there, the people that had them just never lived long or there was never any time, knowledge and money available to really find out what was going on. Reumatoid artritis is by far not as important to treat if you die as a kid from polio. Or die as a young adult from the black plague, or just an infection after a cut. Heck, if you fell and broke your hip as an adult, even if there was no open wound, that chance that you would die was 50/50 in the middle ages. So I kinda conclude that for the most part, all your deadly killers have been mediated to occur later in life, or just disappeared because of our better healthcare and ressources.
