Jamie Lee Curtis did her own stunts in the limousine on the bridge, including being pulled out of the skylight by a helicopter and dangling beneath it. That shot of her face from the helicopter as she's screaming, "HARRY!" was true fear!

I heard that the car window Arnold smashed with his fist was an actual window. They had a prop window set up but he hit the wrong window. Tom Arnold mentioned it during an interview and said Arnie had to take off long enough for his hand to heal because he had injured it pretty bad. My mom accidentally gave me an ambien instead of an allergy pill one day. Let's say I will *never* voluntarily take ambien again. I thought I was dying. Everything started spinning and I got super dizzy before I passed out for several hours. Jamie Lee Curtis actually got to do the helicopter stunt herself as a birthday present.

I’d put this in the second tier of Cameron’s films, right below the top tier of like Aliens and T2. But I think True Lies is overwhelmingly great and definitely Cameron’s funniest film. It’s also one I can watch repeatedly with no fatigue because of the humor. I mean-you get spoiled when you know how an action scene plays out, but if a scene is funny it’s still funny decades later.

"Have you ever killed anyone?" "Yeah, but they were all bad." Fun Fact: The USMC supplied three Harriers and their pilots for a fee of $100,736 ($2,410 per hour). Art Imitates Life Fact: At one point in the movie, Gib tells a story about his second wife taking everything when she left him, even the ice cube trays from the freezer. This is a direct reference to Tom Arnold's divorce from Roseanne Barr that was happening at the same time. Barr was reported to have taken his ice cube trays when she left him as well. Arnold told the story to James Cameron on the set and Cameron incorporated it into the film. That's Hot Fact: The set of bra and matching panties worn by Helen Tasker during the striptease scene were Jamie Lee Curtis's own. Curtis rehearsed the scene extensively with director James Cameron, and it was there that the fall she makes in the middle of the dance was conceived (it didn't happen spontaneously during the actual shooting, as is often claimed). Arnold Schwarzenegger was not told of this beforehand, and this is hinted at when Harry briefly sits up in alarm, realizes that he is breaking character, and then relaxes.

The strategic value of fully automatic fire is to create a "beaten zone" which forces enemies into cover. This is also known as "suppressing fire" and is mainly a psychological threat as most weapons on fully automatic (and not stabilized on a mount) are horrendously inaccurate.

As a kid who grew up in a religious home with a lot of biblical epics, I was really surprised to see Charlton Heston as Arnold's boss with the eye patch. Like a lot of things in my beloved 80s and 90s, some things really don't age well, but that's what I love about these kinds of movies. They're not just good movies, they're a trip back to a time that might have been better in a lot of ways, but there are things that make me cringe in 2024.

A lovely piece of work by Cameron. This was remake of a short film from France. "La Totale!" which was released the same year as T2. 'Bigger than average' genre film and that worked like a charm. TL is exactly what it's suppose to be. Hardcore Spy/Comedy where the laughs and blasts are on the same level. Arnold personally wanted Jamie Lee Curtis at top billing as the lead actress. Because her character meant as much to the story as her husband's did. The studio changed their tune and were wrong about putting her name under the title's name. The late Bill Paxton as Simon the fake (3rd film with Cameron) was quite the performance. Prior to this film, Cameron (a Marvel fan) was originally involved with Spider-Man and X-Men becoming films which had the industry losing their minds. Also the late, great Charlton Heston as the boss of the Omega sector resembled classic Nick Fury. Other than that, it was great to see Cameron and Arnold working together again. There was a tv series and it lasted one season (2023). I wasn't into watching anyway. Just not my thing.

This film has to be watched as a big budget parody of a Bond film, which was the ‘default’ spy-action films franchise at the time. Ultra charismatic lead in a tuxedo. World’s most beautiful women can’t resist him. Exotic locations and fancy gadgets. Start with the climax of the previous mission. Then start the main story, which will have a link to the opening seen. All of that is Bond. Even the classic Arnie one-liners (“cool off”) were being done by Bond since the 1960s. Only the secret family life doesn’t fit into the Bond tropes, and obviously that is the heart of the film.

See...some of the chase scenes in this movie (and most others) irritate the fuck out of me. Not because they're "bad" or anything, but because people will fuckin GUSH over something like the chase at the beginning with the snowmobiles... But then shit out their own balls over how ridiculous the Leia chase scene in Obi-Wan was. "She's a little girl, how is she getting away from these guys!" Yeah...and Arnie's on fucking foot, how is he outrunning goddamned snowmobiles? He sure ain't using the trees. The pursuers are equally stupid in both cases. And the idea of the chase is equally stupid in both cases. The problem is how each was filmed. True Lies the chase scene is jumpy and wildly broken, with few close-ups. In Obi-Wan, each shot is far too long, too slow, too smooth, and spends too much time too often on the girl's face. The ridiculousness of the chase is identical in both...but one is just executed somewhat better.

True Lies is the name of an Intelligence tactic in which you tell a lie enough times you believe it when you say it. So, you have no signs of incongruent speech or behavior (you pass visual, verbal, body or, even Polygraphics test). The face has 46,000 nerve Afferents' so someone who has eyes closed doesn't know what to expect is hypersensitive so the satin-like feel of a rose slowly caressing the skin and filling the olfactory sensors in the nose create an incredibly sensual overload. She has a Mac 10 .45 ACP it fires 50 rounds in under 2 seconds, we used to cut watermelons, but you had to hold it sideways because of the upward recoil.
