It's in early access but I like to think of it as a game in "episodic release"
@OffyDGG Жыл бұрын
You are right I think, since the content that is there already is finished. A case where it is almost just the fact it says 'early access' on the title screen that creates the feeling of an inferior experience. I guess the route of calling new levels 'free dlc' and releasing the game as finished beforehand is an option. I wonder how well that would work.

Ultrakill was definitely designed with computer and mouse in mind. It’s the style of old games like quake where you flick the mouse while moving to rapidly focus on a target. Additionally when it comes to parrying it’s absolutely memory based learning type thing, but I don’t think it’s that bad since most basic enemies share the same ranged arrack projectile with the same velocity, the only difference being the amount of shots, rate of fire and spread. Some attacks also can’t be parried. You can tell which ones can’t because the attack is yellow and there’s a little flash and sound cue. Also you can parry your own shotgun bullets to make them explode when they hit. Although unless you’re gunning for the secret bosses, parrying is optional. You can reliably win fights even when taking hits by employing what I like to call “The rabid dog” strategy where you run at someone and then shoot with a shotgun because being close to an enemy taking damage gives you heals.

and the rabid dog continues to take hard damage while slowly losing style (I used to do this in my first hours)

You have to play with the buttplug support for the full experience. Joking aside, I always thought Ultrakill was a complete game with how much it is praised. I guess it's in tradition with old boomer shooters, having an episodic format.

Something that really pisses me off about keyboard and controller games, is that often the keyboard is completely overlooked, and the game is released on PC anyway. Games *should not* be released on PC unless the game is optimized for mouse and keyboard, not everyone has, or wants to use a controller.

I tried to play dark souls with keyboard and mouse when it first came out on pc, it was most unenoyable 😅

I’ve only ever played ultrakill on my steam deck and with the proper controller layout you can play just as well as you can on computer Also most attacks that aren’t parryable just by punching the projectile when it’s in front of you will have a yellow flash to indicate that you can parry it
@Blairk46737 ай бұрын
Also I’ve found using the touchpad to aim instead of the analog stick to be useful on those especially frenetic bosses

I am the only person who likes to play ultrakill on controller and its not that hard,obviouly the game is not made for controller but its playable and enjoyable,if you dont want to play on controller,play it with keyboard,nothing stops you of doing that,its just that you get used to use it. As a controller player,the buttons are surprisingly in a good position to play Dash:press the left stick Slide/groundpound:press right stick or "B"/circle Punch:"X"/triangle Change arm: down arrow on D-pad (honestly no one uses the D-pad but therebwas no other place to put that) Secondary fire:left trigger Change weapons: those buttons above of the trigers. And the other buttons are like mostly fps games/every game,the only "problem" is to change weapon because of the limited amount of buttons so you have to cycle the weapons but its not that slow to change weapons. So as a CONTROLLER PLAYER i dont think its a bad support. 9/10 (because of the arm but thats not the game's fault)

And honestly the auto aim ruins the experience,It makes you feel like a baby and its not that good.
@butterdust11 ай бұрын
Also i feel It like that because i've played games like Doom eternal on controller so im kind of used to play like that
@OffyDGG11 ай бұрын
I thought changing weapons was fine but the parry slide and jump were problems, since I had to stop turning to hit those buttons, while weapon change is on the shoulder buttons. On steam deck you get 4 extra shoulder buttons, so I could have solved this if I really wanted, never bothered in the end though.

honestly, I think it might just be your controller when you say that you have trouble partying and you can’t really get it down right. I use a Dualsense when I play and I don’t really have any problems but honestly I might entirely be missing the mark and I just really don’t know

Did you play it on a ps4 controller?
@OffyDGG4 ай бұрын
Steam deck controller. It's actually a good one for ultra kill since you can map things on to the extra buttons on the back, but I was using the default layout which isn't that good.

do they? what's the propaganda?
@joshspencer6898 Жыл бұрын
@@OffyDGG Omg u responded Wanna say first i love the ancient history u do on K&G. My problem with their coverage though is just that they left out important details, and are acting like Putin just decided to do this on a whim, and wasn't backed into a corner by US foreign policy. Like Angela Merckle said the Minsk agreements were just to buy time, the west has always wanted to isolate and destroy Russia but we made the mistake of not bringing them back into the fold like we did with Germany after WW2. Also I think u all said that the Maidan riots weren't a coup when the USAID funded the riots with about 3 billion dollars. Not to mention the now infamous call with Victoria Newland where she literally picked the new Ukrainian cabinet. And that's without even bringing up the whole issue of moving NATO eastward, and I remember you correctly saying that it was never put into writing but still we gave the Russians our word and can't be surprised when they react because we didn't keep it. To name a couple things.
@OffyDGG Жыл бұрын
@@joshspencer6898 I am not actually involved in the writing, but I've seen these arguments made and debunked over and over. I don't think you'll get what you want here. Remember that propaganda works both ways - most of what you said here is political narrative, not thorough history. 'Backed into a corner' is a pretty extreme take from a historical perspective, extremely political too (i.e. propagandistic), and there is no chance you're going to get served takes like that on a history channel trying to keep it vaguely balanced. It isn't being ignored, it just doesn't make the cut because the quality of evidence is too low.
@joshspencer6898 Жыл бұрын
@@OffyDGG I don't want anything specific, was mainly just curious as to if there was any evidence against what I said. And since you mentioned that I made the point of Russia being backed into a corner, that's objectivly not an extreme thing to say since the west has antagonized Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union and has tried to bring every other Eastern European country into our influence. I mean is it really a surprise to anyone that Russian annexed Crimea when most of their Black Sea fleet was housed there.
