I was an ICU RN for several years and took care of many people who received transplants as well as many organ donors who had been pronounced brain dead. One night I spent 12 hours with a young girl in her early 20s who had been in a car accident. Once we realized she was brain dead and the family gave consent to donate, I had to keep her body alive and stable until all the donors were able to be called in. It was shortly before 7am at the end of my shift that I sent her off to the O.R. for the organ harvest. I stood with her family in the room as they said their final goodbyes. The next night at 7pm all the other nurses had taken the patients they has cared for the prior night and I was open for the admission. The patient I admitted a couple hours later was the gentleman who had received her liver. He was of course still unconscious and on life support but after everyone cleared out of the room and I was alone with him, I leaned in and gently patted his belly and hello to my other patient. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my career.

@@lawrencemay2554 your both are God's hands. ♥️. Have you came across a moment when a patient felt unworthy of receiving an organ? Jorge thought the lungs should go to someone more deserving. But the call went to him, and it's not about the long, rich life he had lived but what he can do in the future (like opening that center to help other families). I wonder if this feeling of "not-deserving" is common. Thanks

I work in the Operating Theatre in England. We look after all the patients that come through for their organ retrieval. When I’m doing last offices I thank them for their gift and talk about the patients that will be getting a new life. It’s the way I choose to “deal” with the death.

I've never cried with a recap before. I had to slow it down (some movies you have to listen a bit slower). I can just imagine Chris narrating the story.

I like movies where two seemingly separate stories intersect, and end up combining towards the end. It's also great to see Jacob Elordi play a likable guy, a far cry from Noah Flynn or Cal Jacobs.

I’ve watched this in Netflix. At first I was puzzled why 2 unrelated storyIines were juggled back and forth until the plot beautifully unfolds itself. I don’t shed a tear easily but this movie made me cry.

While I was in the military my fiancee past from a accident & his heart was donated to another man, his mother & the man who received his heart still stay in touch to this day. I am an organ donor & when people ask me why I always tell them because "life is the best gift another can give" I understand why people are scared but I always try to tell people that I personally feel it's selfish to take an organ that could save a life & waist it, when I'm dead I won't need it so to gift it to someone is amazing in my opinion ‼️❤️🌅

A very inspirational story. I appreciate it, because it is a true story. I signed the back of my ID, because I'm supposed to be dead, eleven times over. Six times, before I turned eighteen. God just keeps saying NO! I've also survived three lightning strikes. So I know God must have a purpose for me. If my now, sisty-six year old organs, can in any way, help anyone. They will be welcome to whatever God leaves behind. In the meantime, I commit what I call. Random acts of kindness. Situations God puts in my path. I make a practice, of sitting on an empty park bench. Anyone who sits down, is drawn into a friendly conversation. Most of the time. It ends up being profound, in some way. God doesn't make mistakes. That is a truth, that is sometimes hard to accept.

This was an expecially rough recap because it was mostly based on true events, which wasn't revealed until the end. One deviation was that Jorge's last name wasn't Bolivar as shown at 3:20 ... it was Bacardi, as in the 161 year old mega rum brand. So it was Jorge and Leslie Bacardi who established Gabriel House of Care in honor of Christopher Mark Gregory who was only 19 years old at the time of his death.

I can tell this would be a tear jerker. I am on the verge just from watching this summarised clip. I am also an organ donor. Registered already. Not because I think I will die young but just because if I can, I want to help other people. It reminds me of my cousin who died when he was 34, he got hit by a car but incredibly his organs were undamaged. I think he also got hit on his head or something. And his organs were donated to at least 3 people. It was interesting. Sad but really interesting.
