It's truly amazing that this Brother Mark Whitfield, can be a "bonafied" smooth jazz performer, and can be a guest guitarist with Dave Matthews Band (Captain)!!! Much respect!!

Sorry I missed this live - I bought this guy’s first album when it was released around 1990-91 “The Marksman•. Absolutely blew me away - I was playing only shreddy hair rock until that time, and looking for something else. Mark could shred like a rockstar but on a hollow body, with great musicality, and playing jazz. Incredible player.

I especially love Mark's Verve albums. That red guitar looks like it's in amazing condition for 20 years old.

Excellent concept of playing being behind the groove track. The Geoege Benson stories are hilarious but are so true.

Great melodic playing keep it up Mr. Whitfield. I saw a video with Mark Whitfield calling up George Benson to play, and man George was on fire. D'angelo is one of my favorite artists, great to know you worked on the Brown Sugar album.

When you’re lucky enough to have the incomparable George Benson as teacher, mentor, and inspiration you can definitely go places.

I listened to him for the first time recently and I definitely get a George Benson vibe from him. His phrasing is so similar.
