My almost son in law calls garage the same as your son. A dust pan, I found out two day ago is called a shovel. He is from New Zealand and has a good sense of humor because I laughed so hard at the "shovel".

BTW Jean, I love your son's English accent. It sounds so so familiar as we have English friends who sound just like your son. I still find it fascinating to hear an English speaking sound amongst American. I have relatives in San Jose, they are of Asian-Czech as myself, but they speak with American accent. I love it. I've been through many storms, living in the Midwest/tornado alley. We've been through many tornadoes, 2 were F4, and 1 F5. Incredible damage. My father took our foreign exchange student around to friends farms where they saw a bird beak first in the barn door, and another farm had pieces of straw drilled into the door of their barn. I was an American Red Cross volunteer and honkered down in 2 Catagory 5 hurricanes. Several years later, a derecho (land locked hurricane) came through my State. We've had 3 100 year floods...go figure. So, I do know what it can do to families and their belongings. I would listen to so many,who lost so much. I always came home to our tiny apartment, thanking God for what little we did have. Your sons are absolutely wonderful. You are a great Mom,and Ian so enjoys your children...and grandchildren. Everyone seems so comfortable with each other. You are truly blessed ❤😊

So you DO get it! We lost a lot materially, but have always counted our blessings, which are many, and continue to be so. It was extremely hard work having such a large family, but it all came out in the wash!! LOL! We enjoy our kids and they seem to enjoy us:) Comfortable IS the word! LOL! Thanks again:)

Hi jean and Ian. I just love these videos of your family life. Not because im nosey but its nice to see how other people go about in their daily lives in other countries. For example when we move its done over a perood of days. And most probably we do it like that as malta is tiny and even if we move from 1 end to the other of the country it wont take you more than 1hr max . Although these last few years traffic has turned into a nightmare. And a 10min ride could last for 30 or 40 mins. Anyways thks Jean. Would be great to see the house done up now. ❤ to all your family

Looks like a fun time. Glad the weather cooperated, even though the move was just only a few miles up the road. Their new old house is an amazing transformation! Hopefuly, the "Groundhog Day" aspect of flooding is a thing of the past. I miss Yum Yum donuts. Nothing comes even close to them here in the Seattle area.

I’m just wondering when you say it will never flood again are you just talking about the top part of the house?

The original home was ground level and so flooded the basement and into the house. Our son has built up the property on a 'hill' as such, and no basement of course. So the water would REALLY have to rise many many many feet to do harm to the new building. The township also has said it is OUT of the flood zone, which is a relief:)
