I would like to see annual audits PLUS as taxpayers everywhere, I also want to see full disclosure and ROI (Return on Investments) on things like climate change, and so many other things. At the Federal level, where is all these billions of dollars going to Ukraine or any other country for that matter. I would like to see an audit on this and receipts on where the money is being spent on. A full audit. My guess it's being laudered and not going to the "people" of Ukraine, just like Haiti, it goes to the corrupt governments. I'd bet my life on that.

Deletion of documents and emails from a political position should be an automatic jail sentence just for the act of doing so. This should trigger an immediate audit to look for more conflicts and corruption.. All documents and emails should always be available and archived.

To Premier Danielle Smith you need to convene your cabinet & ask Minister McIver if he indeed is in anyways related to any of the persons involved in this situation. If he is then imo he should have known he was in conflict of interest. This man served as a Progressive Conservative MLA so he should know the rules by now & the damage that something like this does to a government & party's creditability & reputation. If he was in conflict of interest he needs to be removed from cabinet & sit as a back bencher imo.

I'll say what nobody else is saying; Both Conrich and Chestermere were allowed to be bought up and turned into Muslim towns. Period. Mayor Nenshi; who now wants to run as the head of the NDP Party to destroy us as Premier of Alberta, allowed segregated communities to be built for the elitist use of the Islamic Community. Question; what would happen if white Anglo-Saxon members of Alberta wanted to build and run a community for white Anglo-Saxon citizens only? What if we ran our own politics? Built segregated schools and community centers? Took over entire Muslim Communities and threatened their existence in our communities? Our Provincial and Municipal Governments are not only allowing them to develop their own segregated communities, they're allowing them to take over and push out white Anglo-Saxon Canadians, our rights, and our quality of life. All the while catering to infiltrators and extremists!

I don't know about Chestermere but I know small towns, this is unsurprising. They operate like unaccountable lords of the land, pulling whatever disgusting schemes they can imagine and bleeding the people dry. I moved from a town where the council was made up of realtors who approved all kinds of ridiculous development projects just so they could use their personal companies to sell the land, scamming giant commissions for themselves.

To make matters worse, Ric McIver is the brother in law of the "former" Mayor of Chesteremer. Chalmers. And Chalmers and the former council were NEVER transparent about the books. It was ONLY when Mayor Colvin of Chestermere that was completely transparent from the day he took office. He followed everything he campaigned for. He saved us millions with the CUI water/sewage company that was syphoning $$ from tax payers, he lowered property tax, and water/sewage. The corruption was DEFINITELY with the PREVIOUS Mayor Chalmers and Council. Colvin was only exposing it.

FYI: the Alberta Provincial Government Managers and Ministers violate ethics and the Law on a daily basis in Alberta. It's never stopped being the corrupt bought-and-paid-for Wild West!

Praying for Mayor Jeff's success and council's in the courts and praying they get reinstated for the good of Chestermere. As a former resident, his election win was a big victory for the residents and it was nice to finally see a government that had our best interests at heart. The fact that an unelected official is now the sole voice of the People is insane and unjust. Let's not even start with the defamation being done by McIvor of the Mayor and Council members.

Thanks for covering this story. I would like to see more follow up. Transparency is important and these two didn't seem shy at all going on record. Him being ousted seemed so unusual and the allegations seem quite weak when you cross examin the conduct and corruption elsewhere, which seems to be completely ignored.

Reach out and ask staff or former staff what the culture was like. It was extremely toxic - including charges laid against one of his CAO's. This recently settled out of court.

As a former Councillor of a Council ( former Mayor Patricia Mathews Council) you have no credibility . Many if not a majority of the corruption happened under your watch. The petition with 5,400 signatures was directed to the Mathews Council of which you were a member. So get off of your high horse before you are knocked off of it.

This is the most actual information I've heard on this issue over the past two years. I work for a company with significant business interests in Chestermere and try as we might, it's been virtually impossible to get a meaningful understanding of what has actually happened with City Council. As a follow-up, I'd like to hear a lot more about the other members of Council (now also disbanded) and what their knowledge/involvement was with the allegations of wrong-doing and why the relationship between Members of Council and the Mayor become so contentions amongst one another.

Mayor Chalmers and Ric McIver is the brother in law. It was only when Jeff Colvin was Mayor that city hall finances were transparent. Previous Mayor and council were NOT transparent including CUI company that was syphoning extra $$ on the side. Mayor Jeff Colvin saved us about a million dollars from this on going corruption.
