9:37 let me tell you why , this ending alone made the prince special and unique personality i rarely seen in any video games , it was a romantic ending of some sort , and getting deep in the heart and soul of a man who just losses his love , he is ready to end the entire world just to revive his love , as if he rather die instead of living alone without her , the ending was a perfect to picture the prince's personality as crazy/rekless/and fullon romantic combined . in some way i feel the writer was in some way inspired by the story of the man who built Taj Mahal. and i do agree with you the combat was not fun.

I agree that the combat is lame. I love it for other reasons though. For one, the watercolor artstyle is imo the best in the series. I remember purifying an area and just gazing at the landscape full of color for a long time. The platforming, even though kind of simplistic compared to the trilogy, was fluid in motion with great animations, and once you got into the rhythm of it and added the orb hunting to it was great fun for me. And last one, I found Elika to be a great NPC companion, maybe one of the best written ones to date. The interactions between the Prince and her were great and I enjoyed seeing the progress in their relationship and the trust they built with each other throughout the story.

I think the game is proof of when Ubisoft was at least trying to MAKE something fresh.. I loved it, I get your points and I respect them. Oh and in combat if you mess up, the enemy regenerates health so I think a little attention is required.. and elika to me she partly acts as checkpoint when you fall etc..
@vxsios
@vxsios 6 жыл бұрын
It seems you didn't pay attention to the game enough. You don't free Ahriman, Elika's father does. As the Prince, you are left in the dark about what would happen to Elika because the prince is a good person who wouldn't help her sacrifice her life for any reason hence she just tells you why she is doing what she's doing. Her father knows what will happen to his daughter if she seals away Ahriman, so in his rage, while fighting you and to attempt to prevent her death he cuts the tree within the temple, believing it would prevent Elika from being able to sacrifice herself for the temple yet all this did do was prolong her inevitable demise as you helped her to her death as she saved the world. The journey these 2 characters go through pretty fun and entertaining and provided much better than the initial 3 sand of time trilogy did, especially as the first (and unfortunately only) instalment. Crazy that in the time when the Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4's of the world were making so much bank, Ubisoft attempted something bold and made a hidden gem like this. What you see as a flaw being the no consequences in failure, I see as something that moved single player games forward. There were no load times at all in the entire game other than starting the game. Every death in battle meant you lost progress as the health would regenerate and you would have to redo some of the damage you had already dealt and every fall during platforming would send you back to the previous one you walked on instead of a loading screen or a checkpoint further back. This isn't a game made to test you to your limits, it's no dark souls kind of difficulty where your wits and your will are tested repeatedly. It's just trying to tell a story and make you feel like you are the Prince and Elika is your companion which it accomplishes in both combat and traversal. Even if the combat is pretty much rock-paper-scissors with some flare, it definitely wasn't the reason I completed the entire playthrough plus DLC. It's pretty good writing, storytelling and world building with a good art style for a reboot with nothing but a name to inherit.

Also, this is my opinion, but in the other Prince of Persia games, at least in Warrior Within, the boss combats were different, but the normal mobs could always be defeated by the same combos like [PRIMARY] [PRIMARY] [SECONDARY] [SECONDARY] [PRIMARY] [PRIMARY] combo. This combat is not too awe inspiring, but at least it helps casuals to enjoy the game too.

I actually really like the game. In my opinion, atmosphere can save a lot of games from being mediocre/sub-par and boost them to decent/good(though what can be considered a "bad atmosphere" is up to debate, for me it comes down to artstyle). I really like the atmosphere, the mechanics feel heavier and much more solid(which I like, unlike many other people I know) and the combat is ok IMHO. Though I can definitly see how people think that this game is either really dissapointing or really bad.

Definitely with you on the combat, and other gameplay flaws, but I think the ending (which is quite similar to the one from Shadow of the Colossus) was a cool twist on the re-imagining of the Sands trilogy; as this Prince basically says "screw it all, let darkness devour us (think, the bad ending of Dark Souls 1) I just wanna be with Elika!" which stands opposite to the ending of Sands of Time where he saves the world by reversing time back to the beginning of the adventure and in effect sacrificing all his romantic progress with Farah. Thanks for doing cool rants!

I'm shocked how different I feel about this one, considering I feel the same you did in the other videos! Don't take this as an attack, love your videos mate! I actually disagree on the death system, since, there is a punishment, in battle, boss recovers their health which, annoying since the combat is indeed dull, and on platforming, you go back a checkpoint which, is the last flat place you stood i think, which, in a way, isn't that much different than rewinding time. In fact, rewinding time is a less punishing cause, here it just sends you super back, rewinding time you ''can'' rewind a little bit before you were a dumb shit. Or you know, fuck up the timing and end in a dying loop which, child-me did a lot. The vines are dull, wish they weren't there, but i do like the platforming rhythm, its, not challenging, at all, but there's something satisfying about it that i really don't know what it is. It's like relaxing, tho', the stupid collectable is what almost ruined this game for me, maybe they should've made it there from the beginning and not, having to just effing redo the whole stage again to get 'em. Also, i'm still salty that there's no dlc for pc. And honestly I do find the ending alright, it's, I wish there was indeed a choice to walk away from where you came before, that'd be optimal, but, the point of it wasn't that he super fell for Elika? It's cheesy, yeah, but, men have done dumber things for less. It's, a very flawed game, but something about it really appeals to me, and, I don't know if its the audio plus visual that makes it so soothing and peaceful to me. I'm not even gonna say it's a guilty pleasure of mine, but, a normal pleasure, maybe it's also nostalgia cause, it was my first game on the new ''era'' of games, i was very late to it, so it super impressed me back then, and, since it's cell shaded and stylized to heck it stood the time.

You're missing the forest for the trees. This game wasn't about combat about which you complained about half the video, or about the fact that you cannot die. The game is all about the atmosphere and the fluency you get while playing it. You don't play this game to sweat because it's so mechanically challenging, it's about enjoying the ride and admiring the scenery. It's more about being a piece of art than a game. It's about the relationship that gets created between the Prince and Elika and how it evolves. But the game is indeed a hit or miss - if you love artsy stuff, you'll love the game. If you're not that passionate about beauty, then you're not gonna like it.

I'm very sorry that you didn't enjoy the game. I respect your opinion and very much like your videos, but I differ on this game completely! I found the game mechanics to be very fluid, much more than previous games to be honest. Soundtrack is breathtaking, even if it's just one or two themes, they are some of my favorite theme songs ever. The part about Elika always saving you - well if you think about it, if she didn't save you, you'd just restart the boss, this just saves on loading times because the boss' health increases every time you "die". Also, it strengthens the bond between the two, you see them cooperating through every part of the game, and at the end, when you need to cut the trees, you really feel like part of you has been ripped away. I find the ending quite pleasing, maybe because I like vague endings where it leaves much answers for you to philosophize about. The prince has grown to like her to a point where her life is more valuable than the life of the world, being the answer of "What is a grain of sand in the desert storm", asked at the beginning of the game, and at the end. One grain can be all the difference to us, for we are subjective beings, objective thought is hardly humane, if we can say so. Anyways, I collected all the seeds, loved the gameplay, played it when it came out, and felt nostalgic and played it once again! It could have been a bit harder, but it is just a joy to go through! Cheers friend, and keep on making great videos!

While I can see why this game didn't get any critical praise and should have been a separate franchise altogether to avoid comparisons with the previous trilogy. Ubisoft really missed their target audience with this. It is unfair however to treat everything it does differently from other games as terrible by default. Prince of Persia series needed new concepts, because convoluted time travel wouldn't carry it any longer, hence a proof of concept feel of the 2008 entry. If we're going to talk about combat, well, no Ubisoft game was ever known for good swordplay. You usually pick once combo and stick to it, occasionally changing it up for tricky enemies, but sticking to the well known. Prince of Persia 2008 tried to remedy that by having less concentration on combat and revamping it in a way where different archetypes of enemies would need a different approach, and you could start guessing from visual cues how to initiate your combos. The story was made optional to try and appeal casual gamers, but once you do dig to the little area specific dialogues, Pratchett's writing really shines and the character development, as well as critical choices made stop being so jarring. The world building is hidden, but it is there. The animations were gorgeous, the locations were breathtakingly, faerie tale beautiful, especially for its time and a more streamlined and easy platforming system allowed to stare and enjoy the art of it instead of concentrating on fucky terrain. Death comes cheap and you have non-stop gameplay on top of all that instead of breaking immersion with a game over screen. All of those things are a matter of opinion and I won't try and convince anyone that the game is enjoyable if they didn't like it. It has a lot of things dragging it down, the sense of scale is weird, collecting orbs is bullshit, the optional conversations bring the game to a halt. It's not a masterpiece and any criticism is valid. There is one thing, however, that gets my blood boiling every single time this game is mentioned. The claim that the ending renders the game pointless. I refuse to be civil about this. That claim stems from an honestly outdated and overdone video game narrative trope of the main character being able to overcome any peril and coming out victorious from every battle. Mario has to have princess Peach, Doomguy has to kill all the demons, Sonic has to collect all the jewellery and vanquish his adversary, Larry has to bang everything that moves. This is so ingrained into our perception of video game plot, that when our expectation is challenged in any way, the community revolts even when the ending makes sense in context, is foreshadowed and serves the purpose of getting the point accross. The ending of Dark Souls is not pointless just because you start the cycle anew and nothing changes in the status quo, that is the point they were trying to make with time being convoluted and the world being grimdark. The ending of Life is Strange is not pointless, because the only two choices you get boil down to the first change you have ever done, that started the slippery slope of the butterfly effect. That game was not about what changes you make in the virtual world, but how do your choices reflect on you when no one is looking. What your decisions mean when you erase a whole timeline and you are the only one carrying that burden. Which brings me to the ending of this game. It is not pointless because it ties in the central theme of the franchise that they were pulling ever since the early 2000's. There is that which is predestined, there is that which is fated and you can't run away from it. In the SoT trilogy it manifested in how the prince was only digging himself deeper every single time he tried to undo his mistakes and how his only happy ending was achieved once he started moving forward and owning up to his shortcomings. We get a more ambiguous twist on that idea with the new game. In the new setting we are informed that Ahriman is meant to be guarded by the Ahura. It is hinted that the prince was destined to be in this place, in spite of him blaming his shitty luck, and we are reminded time and again that Elika is fated to be dead, which starts the whole end of the world shebang in the first place. Once the credits roll down the screen nothing stops you from quitting the game and being satisfied with you are the hero thing, but you miss out on the feeling the situation is conveying. You fell down a canyon in buttfuck nowhere, spent your time with the only living person in the area sealing in an ancient evil with its minions, who are all meant to reflect the flaws and traits of the protagonists, making it a battle with your own human condition as well. You go through all that trouble at the price of your companion's life. You won, but everything around you is dead and decaying, you are all alone, the evil God is gloating through the bars of a prison that is liable to fall apart now that the last being who could maintain it is gone and the forces of good are known to have left the universe. AND NOT A SINGLE SOUL WHO CAN RELATE TO WHAT YOU JUST EXPERIENCED AND TELL YOU THAT WHAT YOU DID WAS RIGHT (sorry for caps, but that part needed underlining). The world of PoP 2008 is that dark and that complex. Obviously the prince will choose to revive Elika, she is the only person who can keep the evil at bay. She says "why" as he does it not because his choice is pointless, but because she is a reluctant hero and never wanted the burden of that which she is fated to be in the first place. In a true PoP fashion, you cannot escape your fate. All that to say, I am not trying to invalidate your opinion with my opinion. I am certainly wearing pink glasses looking back on that game and it is definitely not the best game out there (or the best PoP for that matter). I just wanted to point out the good that this game was in spite of its experimental feel and wonky execution that is sometimes so exaggerated by reviewers that the hate becomes undeserved.
@centurion2812
@centurion2812 6 жыл бұрын
Nice point on the idea "you cannot escape your fate". In my opinion tho, another reason for the prince to save Elika at the end would also have to be the way he thinks.. By this, I mean that the prince has a different mentality and a different set of ideas that the one Elika implies about saving the world. The prince most likely believes that there is another way to save the world from Ahriman and that of course is not by having Elika sacrifice herself in order to do it. Moreover, while you go through those dialogues between him and Elika you can notice how "stubbornly" and how fiercely he supports the idea that the princess doesn't have to live in a certain way she thinks is the right way. I know this might sound pretty confusing =)) but you can clearly see that he wants her to be alright and to feel good despite how reality actually is (she being almost always down).. From this results his rather rebellious action to revive her even though he knows clearly that is not right. In addition, I also think that he feels different after the journey he went through with Elika in order to stop Ahriman and maybe he'd want to relive that sort of experience... but yeah, that seems a bit exaggerated.. and actually a bit morbid. And of course, the final point would be that the relationship the prince created and developed with the princess is unique and he'd feel pretty shoity after it having to end so abruptly and immediately.

Interesting review, there's not many reviews out there for this game so thanks. The traversal was a huge improvement over the slow paced gameplay of the sands of time. It plays more like a rhythm game than a puzzle game, which is great for me. I love traversal games, and this is one of the best around. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion about combat. Combat is all about being aggressive and pulling off huge combo for massive damage. If you fail at being aggressive, the enemy will attack you, and you will have a chance to parry and have a free opportunity to start a combo. If you fail your parry then you will go into a 'hurt' state. You will move slower, and if you fail again then there is a reflex event (you have roughly a full second) where you have to correctly press 1 of 4 buttons. If you managed to not fail for 10 or so seconds, then you will be back to normal. Now if you do fail that reflex event? The enemy is healed by something like 30%. Most bosses take a handful of combos to defeat. This is an incredibly forgiving combat system. There is no way to even lose. If you fail to be aggressive, fail your parry, fail your parry again, fail the reflex event, then do it all again twice more, then your enemy will be fully healed -- the equivalent to having to start over. There aren't very many games that are this forgiving. The "hard" part of the combat isn't the reflex mini games, which most players won't see unless they really screw up, it's the puzzles. If you remember SotC, it will already be familiar. Bosses aren't numbers, they are puzzles. How do I defeat this guy who is impervious to all attacks? The bosses are not just a test of your mechanics, you have to actually think too. In most games when you "die" you are faced with a respawn, or a "do you want to reload?" message. There is 0 punishment for dying in most games. Even darksouls only makes you drop your cash, which you can go back and pick up. PoP has you respawn, WITHOUT the load screen, in a setting appropriate way. Very very rarely do you ever see a game even try to justify how or why you can respawn. We all know dying in games is bullshit and doesn't do anything. Failing your combo chain, or your 20-input traversal sequence is the punishment, you know you fucked up because you fell or you fucked up 12 inputs in a fight and your magic buddy had to save your dumb ass. You shouldn't need the game to tell you "You Died" or "Reload last save" to tell you that you failed. The ending was cute and we already figured out that she was revived and that she had to die to reseal the zoroastrian satan. That's the point.

I liked to hear what people think about this game from a perspective where its flaws are more pronounced. I really like this game even more than the Sand of TIme trilogy. The art direction of the game is just mesmerising to look at for me, the acrobatics feels more responsive and precise to me than the Sands of time. The combat is true a big contrast from a strategic fight system to a reaction based one and it is a lot more repetitive than it should be. Music, voice cast does a good job in conveying the atmosphere of the game. About the ending. It can also be interpreted in different ways (I think this might be too much of my imagination in it). When you are walking out with Elika`s body and put her down the Prince says not a word. The snarky, closed prince does not utter a word. At that point you can do 2 things. Turn off the game as the story has ended or make the choice of reviving Elika as his father did by going to Ahriman . In the game it is well pronounced that Ahriman is corruptive, he is. However the characters made the choice to fall under his influence. True that the ending is polarising and very dividing in fans. But they have made one of my top games with this one

Kondri Janos But isn't the whole point of the ending that the Prince now cares about Elika so much that he is willing to revive her, even though he knows the consequences? That was my interpratation at the time at least and I liked it a lot. It falls in the same category of TLOU ending for me. With no spoilers, it was another devisive ending that for me worked great and was believable given the characters and situations of the game.

The combos you could chain turned out pretty sweet. The platforming was some of the most fun of any of the PoP games and was honestly improved in every way. And of course the world and art was amazing.

I actually think the combat is the strongest part of the game, if not some of the strongest combat in any game I've played (this coming from someone with over 1k hours in dks pvp). I like that it's purely based on player tactics and skill rather than numbers. I like that you need good reaction times and not just strong tactics. I like that you don't get pulled out to a "you died, respawn at last save point" menu, there's an in-game justification as to why you don't die. And I guess you missed this but if you get hit, get hit again, miss the reflex (which seems like you get a lot of chances to me), then Elika saves you, the boss gets healed. So you are punished by failure the same amount as if they had a traditional "you died" meta-game screen. I also loved the problem solving aspect of boss fights, great fun. I think one of the most interesting things about this game is listening to the criticism. For example failure is as punishing as in other games, yet some perceive it as not at all punishing. Saying that you can't grind and need to rely on skill and reflexes shows that you really wanted a very different game. FYI at the end you could just not revive her. The credits have already run, game is over. You do not have to destroy the trees lol.

2008 pop is a artistic version of mirrors edge. That's how I treated it and did not disappoint the flow in the game. This and forgotten sands are 2 best platformers I ever played after warrior within. I guess everyone doesn't need to like the same. Combat was never the go to for pop. That's good of war.

The ending was powerful, tragic and the most romantic in a video game i played. Just because the good guy doesn’t win in the end doesn’t mean the ending is bad. It’s funny that the only negative thing you mentioned is the combat and completely ignored the tremendous graphical improvements this game brought with it, Even after 12 years after release the graphics still looked somewhat fresh. And you also completely ignored that this game is more fluid and captivating than all of its predecessors. Literally never a dull moment.

Ah, the ending! Once again, the perils of not explaning everything with bullet points and banking on people actually fucking thinking and analyzing what's presented shows up. Let's see. Sure it undoes everything you've done. That's the fucking point. Ahriman tells you so when he whispers in the end ("She is dead. Dead for eternity. And when I am free, she will already have been forgotten. I will be free!") and the Prince himself explains in the epilogue that he revived her because there must be another way to defeat Ahriman. Not to mention the underlying message of him reviving Elika because he can't let her go... which speaks volumes about his character. He's a loner, a drifter, he doesn't trust anybody nor wants anyone to trust him... and through the adventure she's grown on him to such a degree that he simply can't leave her. Elika herself tells you this multiple times, remember? "I told you to leave!". He doesn't, always presenting different excuses, until there's no more. He's fallen for her in such a way that he chooses to damn everything. As twists go, this was not broadcasted at all, and one needs to look very carefully to see it coming ("You haven't let me down yet." "You haven't known me long enough."). It's a masterful ending, subtle instead of in your face, open to interpretations instead of plainly stating something.

PoP was one of my favorite games series as a kid and I loved hearing what you had to say about it, giving me different outlook or just talking about it in general. I rather enjoyed this and hope you keep up the good work with these kinds of videos. I also agree with you on the ending of this game. I liked some aspects of this game, collectiing all the light seeds was not one of them XD howver that ending upset me, I get it was for love but COME ON! anyways TL;DR, awesome video series mate, watched them all back to back

I think most people misunderstand what the game is. Being named "Prince of Persia", people expected it to be an action adventure combat-focused game. But it wasn't that and it wasn't TRYING to be that. The combat in this game is filler, not a focal point. If you play this game, you play it for the story, the engaging environment, the breathtaking artstyle. Kinda like watching a movie. Why do you think the game's main objective was collecting light seeds? There was no challenge in collecting these seeds, it was just a means to get you to explore the environment.

The sound mixing is really not done very well. I played on PC and I can tell by the button prompts that that's the PC version in the video as well. I ended up boosting the sound of my PC beyond the usual level, leaving the voice slider in the game at max and lowering the other two sliders by 3-4 notches.

I enjoyed this game. Yeah the combat was shyte but I mostly thought of it as an almost pure platformer. The revive mechanic, I mostly saw it as an autoquickload with an animation. I though the game was making a good point, in a world where you can save and load, why make the player go through it? When you can just do it seamlessly? The ending was controversial, but it felt artsy to me. It fucks with your completionist desires. After all you could just turn the game off and thusly not chop off the true. But because we are all greedy bastards we can't stand the thought of not getting all the cutscenes.

The problem with this game was, it tried too hard to appeal young girls and kids. The story can literally be told in one minute. It had 0 plot twists, 0 character development, Prince was a fucking joker, only girls loved his character because of the fucking brick abs and shit romantic and funny behaviour. The combat was okay, there were some good moves but what the fuck is up with that sword?! The sword was as long as the prince himself and wow, prince doesn't bleed. Also, That Elika was one hell of a lazy ass. She could fly but doesn't give a shit when you really need to. Also, what's the purpose of climbing very high hills and towers when she can just catch you everytime you fall? I understand that it was introduced because people got frustrated when they had to die again and again in Warrior Within but hell no, removing game over screen doesn't help *at all!!* The soundtrack? The menu theme song was fucking gold! Rest of it? I bet you can't remember. The sequel? The epilogue was shit just like the game!

Nice video. For me, Prince of Persia 2008 was nothing but a glorified lightballs collecting game with annoying QTEs. While climbing was okay, my favourite part of every PoP game, the combat, was completely unrewarding and uninteresting. In all former PoP games you were someone with strong reasons to fight and you had to learn and improve in combat to be able to advance. There was no threat and almost no direct reason to fight in PoP 2008 besides the simple old Good vs Evil thing. In Sands of Time your father is killed/turned into sand warrior and your country is collapsing. In Warrior Within you're being chased by Gods of Death and Time who you must defeat in order to survive. TT similar to SoT. Here, you collect light balls to defeat and seal some random God of some random people you don't care about. I know I'm exaggerating a bit but you get my point. 2008 game is kinda too casual for PoP franchise and seems too shallow for my tastes (mechanics, story, etc) and Elika wasn't interesting enough, acting like some anime girl. 2008 one tried something different that deviated from it's predecessors but did not offer something most of it's core audience actually enjoy. To each his own I guess. Keep up the good work True Review.

When you die, you restart from a checkpoint. -> Game gives you a game over screen and a loading screen When you "die" in prince of persia you restart from a checkpoint. -> Game gives you an animation where elika saves you and you can continue without a loading screen The game ended after you carried Elika out of the tample. If you accept her death you can quit the game. Its you how can choose to either save Elika or save the world. Just because the game doesnt outright says " Pick one " doesnt mean its not your choice. The credits already rolled the linear story is over, they just put a little extra at the end. The combat is different, the combos are idiotic, you can hit any "attack" button and you gonna make some kind of combo, they look good but attacking an enemy doesnt feel good, parring on the other hand i liked, you might not like reaction based combat but thats just means you dont like it doesnt mean its bad.

Point One: The other games build tension by you fearing of loading screens and losing your progress (also Elika reviving you breaks the immersion, bc you feel like The prince is unkillable and you ask yourself, why does she only helps when you would die?) Point 2: You have 2 choices: Let her die or undo the whole work you did. I don't know who would choose to nullify the whole story tbh.

@@soundtrack1405 Point One: If you wanna build tension by making the player WAIT when he dies its a shitty idea to use loading screens. If I wanted to I could install some old games on my fcking RAM and have like what, 1 second loading screens ? Now the whole tension is gone because the game is running on newer pc ? Thats just a bad game design. Part 2: I liked Elika, I liked the two characters bonding. Maybe Im just miss remembering but I kinda think the prince and Elika was falling in love with eachother. You are not choosing to nullify the story for nothing. You are choosing to doom the word to bring back the one you love. Its a hard choice and if you dont want to do that its fine, you can leave the game. Are mad at the game for giving you a A and B option, instead of no option at all

@@Zoli-7658 Loading screen was maybe a bad argument, but still, the player has to feel, that if they fail, they'll have a bad consequence for it Also you may have liked her (I don't say she was awful or anything), but they could've given the player a price to pay in a diffrent way (so put Elika dying in the middle of the game not at the end). So yh that was one of my problems with The Life is Strange. While I liked Chloe her death would have had a punch if it didn't undo the ending. So yh I think if you just wipe out the things you did in the whole game, it's a bad ending. Just like in LIS.

@@soundtrack1405 You dont actually have a problem with game mechanic of "if you lose all your hp you and the boss get healed" you just think the game was not hard enough. And its not its an easy game but as a mechanic, death animation and restarting the fight is the same as save animation and restarting the fight. What price ? What are you even talking about how is Elika dying in the middle of the game solves any of your problem ? Elika knew she would die when they get to the end. Elika didnt tell the prince because she knew if she told him he would not let her do that. Elike gave her life to save them, but in the end the prince could not lose the one he loves. He would rather see the world end then to lose her. Thats not even comparable to Life is strange. Life is strange is waaay below this. If you wanna compare this to something its the second Matrix movie. Neo had 2 choice save every human but let her loved one die or save Trinity but doom humanity, and he chose Trinity. This is the exact same thing as the prince dooming humanity to bring back Elika

I finished it again a couple of weeks ago, I agree that the combat is shit and Elika checkpoint system pissed off most fans, but think this game is about exploring, being immersed with the beautiful world as you travel with your friend to save the world from a threat, so basically the relationship between Prince and Elika is what makes the game good, I would go as far as saying that this is the best character dinamyc ever made in a game. Maybe if this didn't received the name "Prince of Persia", things could have been different.

Maybe she needed to be a backpack for the sole purpose of helping you in a battle 😱 it's not like she held your hand through everything. There were still a lot of situations in which you had to figure shit out yourself to get where you needed to be. I feel this reboot was made for those not familiar with the series. Cuz without that you kinfa struggle with it; as did my sisters. It was bought for all of us due to our enjoyment of our cousin playing it but im the only one who actually played sands of time. My sisters didnt get shit and chose to enjoy the view. And guess what, they loved it. It was like they were watching a movie. Besides every concubine battle 🙄 not all games have to be tough. Sometimes it's just about the story and the fun and not the difficulty. Not every game has to be Dark Souls or Resident Evil or even the first Prince of Persia (which i tried countless times when I was a child). I feel if they made a movie based off of the 2008 game itd have worked better. There were more interesting characters and there wasn't a fuck ton of powers to learn in neccessity to the boss battle at the end. My ffavorite aspects of the game were exploring the land and learning the lore. Not the difficulty. Professional gamers have this issue. They look for a challenge and not a story. And thats your downfall.

Like the Prince of Persia vids, dude. Although I tend to disagree with you on some points, your reasons are still valid. That being sad, the 2008 Prince might be the prettiest and the most different game in the series, and we should cut it some slacks for going in that direction. Unfortunately, you praise Warrior Within for being different and seem to protect your opininon, admitting most fans dislike the game, at the same time you rant about 2008, using words like 'we' and 'most of us' to defend your points, adding 'see if I care' to all those that would disagree with you on them. Combat was really boring, but you remember how everyone thought that WW was shit because it was a different-ish setting from sands of time....I feel like you're doing the same with this game. It's not meant to be the same as the sands of time trilogy, it had a different taste to it, and rightfully so. I was personally looking forward to a sequel to this game, but deep down we all know that Ubisoft did forgotten sands instead for the same reason they went back to two-thrones after WW, so that they can fend off the bad reception of the game and recapture some of it's audience with the sands of time nostalgia. If anything, I honestly think that the PoP series is dead because the fans just cannot accept change. Just my opinion tho.
