I will never understand the hate that POP 2008 gets, was it a perfect game? no! but why do people pretend it wasn't solid and couldn't be built upon via sequels? It was a visually stunning game, incredibly fluid, the interactions between the prince and Elika were amazing (great story too). Biggest criticism I have is that the platforming/puzzles were far too easy. Also the combat was not great, it had a nice idea of every fight feeling like a boss fight so to speak, but it was executed poorly though. Hence why I believe sequels could have indeed built on it. Let us not forget that during that period God of War was being released periodically too, so it made sense for POP 2008 to visually change etc.. It had great potential, I would love to see a sequel to that on a next generation console.
@விஷ்ணு_கார்த்திக்6 жыл бұрын
There were puzzles in pop 2008? I really don't remember any, the only thing i remember about the game is that it was too goddamn repetitive and you had to do those chores with elika where she would plant light seeds or some shit. *"the interactions between the prince and Elika were amazing (great story too)"* The price was a horrible character, he had literally no motivation to do anything, he only helped elika because he liked her and he doomed the world because he liked her. What a shitty character, if there ever is a sequel, i'd want to play as Elika not this fucking moron who'll doom earth on a whim. Original prince actually had goals that you could relate to. "Also the combat was not great" Really underselling that statement, the combat was horrible.

Late reply (bloody long one too) It is a good game, looked great for the time, the locations had a lot of personality- really felt like I was playing through a bright fairytale, atop that the skill tree and abilities were great, the platforming puzzles were probably the best the series has ever seen. However, the overall quality of the game (the bosses were miserable) was still not as good as the original trilogy and the concept seemed stale by 2011. I also don't know why the decision to dilute PoP Ww's combat system since Two Thrones was made either, I think that took away something unique that the series had going for itself. I don't usually care about stories in any artistic medium too much(be it novels, movies or videogames because they don't necessarily have to be vehicles for story-telling alone) but given that the earler stories did have some interesting aspects, it really stood out as to how dull this one was in that department, although I am not entirely surprised at their attempt to milk another established premise, given that this Ubisoft and they would probably try to milk a bird if given the chance.

this game IMO has by far the best climbing/parkour gameplay EVER...it might look like a gimmick in the start but its not...when you wallrun hundreds of meters above ground and swinging on a pole you should feel scared of what happens next and that's what this game provides...the recall environment mechanic coupled with water freezing creates some truly amazing leap of faith moments that timing is essential to keep up..and this is how it should be..the half to one sec that you are flying in the air is exhilarating because if you mess things up at recalling what was there or freezing the next pole of water, you fall dead...
@arkanjoteixeira7 жыл бұрын
koel700 POP 2008 had much smoother parkour mechanics imo
@Ko700el7 жыл бұрын
smoother yes...better ? not in a million years... the parkour of 2008 was impressive technically, you couldn't tell when one animation ended and when the other started...but it wasnt even remotely challenging (like the entirety of the game)..
@arkanjoteixeira7 жыл бұрын
koel700 That's true. I mean, I loved both, and neither were very challenging. But talking about the Parkour mechanics only, I've always felt PoP 2008 was more satisfying, even though it was too easy, I've always felt it gave me a better sense of control, and it was a joy to look at it.
@Ko700el7 жыл бұрын
for me...at PoP 2008 found myself leaving the controller at my lap and using one finger to press either the jump button or the grip button to use the gauntlet, everything lasted 3+ secs so it felt like watching a movie during the climbing because everything was automated .. in Forgottes Sands you need to hug the controller and the sec in the air is crucial to your life or death in the game..press the freeze button and watch out the timer so you wont fall to your death..sometimes you have to make sure that sec you fly in the air you are not activating the freeze power to gain that inch of mana back to freeze stuff again..adding to that the recall environment to create platforms to parkour and the trolling mechanic that some times you have to pay attention to what you are creating/forgetting so you wont cancel the support creating the pole of water so you end up killing yourself by accident :P

I always thought they should make a new Prince of persia like a Dark souls game. Just like they did with sekiro with interesting movement and combat mechanics and incorporate the Time powers to it. Maybe the timeline is broken or something past present and future collide or maybe some other mechanism like in WW to use a special chamber to travel to the past. I don't know, I think that would be a cool way to bring the franchise back.

Although the prince totally should have died in the storm at the end of the game I believe the free running is the best in the series, its much smoother and the prince is more agile than ever. The combat is definitely the worst, it might as well be dynasty warriors with the amount of mindless button mashing, the health upgrades and stone armor make you virtually invincible so what's the point. Its the easiest in the series and I got the platinum trophy on my second play through.

Not great, and certainly not awful, which makes it one of the best VG title out there...

Curiously enough, the ports of this game to other alternative consoles were their very own take and thing outside of the main console one . . . I think there were only two port versions that were actually interesting and good . . . However, because they had the same "Forgotten Sands" title, it kinda ruined the reception and if they were named differently then it would have gotten more praise . . . But yeah just a fun fact . . . Also maybe this game would have been interesting if they focused more in the transition of the Prince going from his variation in Sands of Time to being the one in Warrior Within . . .

Wait.......what if sands of times event happened after the events forgotten sands coz remember those unexplained life upgrades you could get in that game I mean the water areas. Again the similarities between these SOT and TFS are expenentional. I mean what if after reporting the death of Malik to his father they came to know that the place where the sand army was has founded the sand of time. Then the prince and his again came maybe to revert the events that happened in POP:TFS but their plan back fired. And the events in SOT happened and then the Dahaka started to chase the prince so he went to the island of time to stop the sands of time ever being created so the events of SOT never happened but coz of that the princes brother never was revived using the SOT in SOT coz well....you know all hell broke lose. So when the prince was away from Babylon the vizier took the opportunity and sigied his kingdom. And then the events of T2T took place and kaileena took the dagger of time with her thus a tale of a lifetime ended. Oh yes maybe the prince didn't know about the power of the dagger of time because he was never given the DOT in POP:TFS he was basically given water elemental powers TBH. Yep that explain's a lot. So according to my speculation the POP timeline is kind of this 1-POP:TFS 2-POP:SOT 3-POP:WW 4-POP:TTT

this is a good game, certainly much better than any AC casual games out there. Just not as good as the core trilogy but that is fine. This game is also innovative in many ways too, like many added abilities to make platforming much more challenging than before. They just overdid it at the end with the can't-be-more frustrated water stop time platforming sequences which enrage many gamers. But other than that, the game is rock solid. It is sad that most gamers nowadays are kids or casual gamers, that is why AC is so popular, they are too lazy to play games that present interesting platforming challenges and good control scheme like PoP and instead opt for automated control in AC where you lose agency and let the game do it for you entirely.
