I having been using Truetone since they were Visual Sound. Bar none, the most thought going into pedal design is Bob Weil at Truetone. This pedal has been the mainstay on my board since I started playing. I have purchased over 30 different overdrives from boutique high end to old and busted. Always come back to this one for True Tone. I cannot express just how amazing the overdrive channel is! It’s based on the Open Road pedal, but with Bass control! Yes! It actually makes your amp sound just better! It’ keeps whatever tone you have set on the amp and just makes it better and more powerful. Also, it’ has an even overdrive structure. The gargle of the drive tone is so balanced and pleasant! Add the Hyde on top of that and you have an absolutely unreal and gorgeous lead tone! The two pedals compliment each other so well, and with Zero Noise! I just sold a Carl Martin Plexitone pedal and a Wampler Plexi Deluxe. They just don’t do what this does and more!

Yes this is definitely a special pedal or actually pedals! Sounded really good and with the OD before the distortion, it can undoubtedly do any distortion tone imaginable! They really created a monster with this one!

Some of the main features for me is that it is 2 pedals in one, I like how reliable it is, it is a overdrive and distortion in one footprint and powered by one power supply. On the distortion side there is a addition of a bass knob and a voice switch. On the overdrive side, there is a addition of a bass knob and a clean mix.

This pedal is truly 2 pedals in 1, built with ‘extreme reliability’. TTK discussed some very specific features of this pedal. Which features meant the most to you and why. The voice switch...its nice to have the flexibility to go from classic tone to a more modern saturated one. It would really help a cover band guitarist such as me. The fact it is both an OD and a distortion in a small footprint is handy as well, it would fit on my pedal board well, and it could act as a versatile 2 channel preamp, should the need arise. The ability to switch from true bypass and buffered is invaluable as you can switch it to suit your particular situation, such as long cable runs.

Honestly I believe that the best feature is the design and the "extreme reliability". Also the lifetime warranty. Very rarely now a days do companies stand by their products. And there is no better feature of ANY product, then reliability. And a lifetime warranty means that if it ever should break down on you its covered. The pedal sounds great, and should provide you with pretty much any tone desired.

True bypass or buffered option. For cutting out any noise or signal loss caused by using long cables, or when pedal is off there is no tone loss in the signal chain. that's with the buffered option. True bypass is a direct line, bypasses the pedals circuit when pedal isn't in use (Makes the pedal transparent when off). 2. Overdrive (Jeckyll) and Distortion (Hyde) in one pedal 3. Instructions with Graphics.4. The military grade like switches (forever Foot Switches) with gold plated contacts. good for those who are kind of rough with their gear, 5. lifetime warranty that covers 2nd and 3rd owners of the pedal. if you decide to sell it 6. Love the dual inputs and outputs for the pedal for more options and creativity when organization your signal chain , while trying to create your desired tone. 7. Voice switch and bass knob that interacts with the treble on the Hyde side of pedal 8. Bass and Clean Mix Knobs on the Jeckyll Side of pedal

Now THIS is a nice dirt box TK! That disto side is full, not screechy, full of harmonic content. EQ stack helps too. Sounded much better (or recorded at least) with bright on! Mid hump voicing good too. OD section is very TS (9/808 et al) throaty and mid humped, but on steroids! Bass eq stack and blend helps too. Both VERY usable! I thought both cascaded was somewhat over baked, with a lot of lower mid muffling (over compressed?). A GOOD choice for a dirt box for sure!

I first hear this pedal on TrueTone Lounge and heard the intro song for that show. Al Perkins playing steel guitar with the Son of Hyde in his signal chain. i had asked Zak in the comments section and he share that part of it but not the rest of his pedal board. You can listen to the full display of Al's playing on; True Tone Lounge - Al Perkins You Tube. This is My first pedal purchase ever because of that tone. Its on most of the time when i play, it drives my signal clean and quiet. For playing my Yamaha FSTA... I enjoy acoustic clean and then aggressive attack when i want it... and zero feedback. None. Great pedal.

Which features meant the most to you and why? Of course one of the most important features being that it gives you the best of both worlds of overdrive and distortion in one unit. You can get classic and modern tones and mix both overdrive and distortion for over the top sustain and harmonics. Separate in's and outs for each side of the pedal. The true lifetime warranty of course is a wonderful feature as well.

1: The Features I like the most (it's 2 pedals in one). The custom designed Forever Footswitch rated for 10 million hits thats awesome. The relays having gold-plated contacts, thats bad-ass. Life-Time Warranty! thats good stuff, they stand behind their product fully! even for second or third owners, and thats good for everyone... Separate inputs and outputs so each side of the pedal can be used in a loop device, and or midi switcher. Its also possible to reverse the order of effects with a patch cable. Their options on this thing are fantastic!

isn't it actually 3 pedals in 1, what with the (internal/switchable) noise gate on the distortion side, not to mention the separate outs & signal routing options? whatever, i just got mine today (2016-05-06) & i love it; a great addition to my pedalboard...

Top mounted jacks are always a plus when you don't have much room left on your pedalboard - having a clean blend knob is great...I wish more OD and fuzz pedals had that

Which features meant the most to you and why? 1- the true lifetime warranty even when you sell it to someone else. This takes away the worry to the buyer of the quality and continued support from the manufacturer; 2- the infinite controls which truly allow you to shape the sound/tone. This opens up the full spectrum of sound for the player, regardless of style and l=allows you to work it into the style you are playing at the moment; and 3- the in/out jacks in the back which allow you to actually set which effect goes first. Again, this allows the pedal to be used as you specifically want the effects order to be all in one pedal.

This is the best version in my opinion. The first red version sounded aweful with OD and Distortion played at the same time. You had to choose between one side or the other; not so with this bad boy.

Aaron Duhart The full bore metal is worse than a metal zone. Probably one of the worst pedals mxr ever made. You should trade up for something else!
