Bro THANK YOU. I've been using her with Cyrax to stay safe with her combo starters, but seeing the scorpion mix up with her has completely re routed my combo tree for her. This video is what I was waiting for!! Keep the series alive. I speak for all fans that these really really help

Real Talk: As a beginner her combos are just way too advanced. Needing ''fast fingers'' is an understatement. I tried Raiden and after Li Mei he felt so easy. You really don't need skills to pull off big damage combos with Raiden. It almost feels like cheating if you were practising with Li Mei for weeks.

I would start off playing with Tanya because to be good with her, you have to lean in on her neutral game play. Then when you get good at that, and learn the game more, play Li Mei. I promise you won’t regret this lol I finish rounds so fast now, and get come backs lol

I think it was yesterday where I was experimenting with Li Mei and I found Stryker to be a good match. His bomb toss works well for comboing into her lantern without using her EX fireball but the same rule applies, you need very good reactions and fast fingers to pull it off. Even her 434 is a great corner combo that can go into her stand 3 and finish off with the knee rush but it needs good execution and isn’t the most optimal combination. Even Frost still works well from the beta because it opens up the opponent and gives you time to set up but that’s just about it.

Yep, Lei Mei is slept on, I have been labbing her alot myself... scorpion is her real option too. Completes her kit, turns her into a 2-3 touch character. Plus frame staggers, you can really mind game your opponent and condition them to expect a stagger and instead eat a full combo. Only issue is she is incredibly stubby imo and can be really difficult to open good players up with her. Super fun character though and really slept on

Li Mei is my main, and she’s a very honest, reliable fighter. The most common complaint I’ve seen against Li Mei is that her strings all have gaps, but I use that knowledge to stagger and condition my opponents. I pair Li Mei with Lao as my Kameo. Lao’s low hat is goated, and his spin is a good starter for aerial/lantern combos. His teleport can also be used on knockdown for setups and mixups.

1, 2, 4 2, 1, 4 Back 3, 4 4, 3, 2, 1 Forward 4 , 3 are really the only strings you need and staggering with her is good as well, also doing back forward 1 amplified after a string catches a lot of players off gaurd into a free combo for 40 percent

You can combo off Li Meis overhead Dropkick with Scorpion. The timing uis extremely tight but ive done it in practice and almost online but the guy broke

Been making her for two weeks now. She is great. Got her down with Skorpion, just experimenting with Sub Zero as her Kameo. He is good but his freeze is not as reliably as Skorps teleport flame in catching opponent since most of Li Mei attacks push away. Not tried Cyrax yet, but think he may have potential since a lot of her combos are from launchers.

I went against a demigod using lei mei and Stryker and I was so confused. Everything felt plus and when he wasn’t plus he could use Stryker and be plus again. He wasn’t playing great so I was able to get 2 games on him but he still won the set.

@@warzone2.0plug28 yeah, you can kind of do the same type of combos as scorpion kameo. With the purple lion special move that makes the opponent airborne but doesn’t let you combo. If you use the grenades you can. He did some other combos but the pressure was the scariest part of the team.

I hope he reads all the comments. Kick Precision into high heel x2 into seasoned warrior, into ⬅️ ➡️ 4 scorpion kameo is about 43% for no meter at all. Edit, the air combo into the air overhead after the kameo. Also carry’s to the corner from pretty much the other side

YESSS, some Li Mei love!! I like the character, but I still got one or two things I would like adjusted for her and that would be whatever criteria they have behind the scenes for using her 2nd lantern call. She can call multiple lanterns but depending on how the combo is structured or how long the 1st lantern is on screen, the game will eat the input for a certain amount of time before she can call another lantern. If you do a JIX,X, (PS5) and call lantern in the corner, it will hit. Even if you wait till recovery is done, she wont call another lantern and she'll just do a B2(whatever triangle is). The game already has properties in place to nerf juggling too long so that in itself should've assisted with nerfing her lanterns from beta. Idk whether it's a glitch or intentional, but she definetely loses a little solo combo potential due to this glitch or hidden lantern restriction. 2nd thing would be slightly increasing the speed the lantern comes out or adjusting the point which the active frames start. I feel if the lantern is formed it should pop, not just when it leave the hand. The 1st thing is a fix to a possibe unnecessary problem, the 2nd is just a wish

You don't need to summon Scorpion first to combo with her 7frame special. You just need to do it near instantly after doing the special. I just do a half circle back on d-pad to get scorpion out asap. But yeah Li Mei really doesn't feel as bad as some people think. Sure she has lots of gaps in her combos but she's got plus frames before the gaps on her b3 & 12 which imo is pretty great to bait armors. I've been enjoying her a lot. Especially with Scorpion. Definitely wanna give Kung Lao a shot too.

you missed the most important thing about li mei. special moves come out faster if you do it inmediatly after blocking. which means that she can punish with a full combo strings that otherwise are safe. for example, baraka has b31 which is mid low high, and yeah you can duck it but he has another string that ends in mid so you take a risk if you try to duck. but the high version is -7, if she has a bar and a kameo she gets a full launch while other characters cant even punish it with a down jab!

What's the pre-jump frame data for Li Mei? since her overhead option is 9 frames, the total startup would be 9 + jump startup, so if she had 7 frames of jump startup it would be a true-50/50 that couldn't be fuzzy blocked at a higher level (both the low option and the overhead option would come out frame 16).

I understand now how important tools are for a character. Before when I think a character isn't a strong or an effective contender was because I thought "well they don't have any combos" but now I see that's not about combos (tho it's a big factor of what makes fighting games fun) but it's really about spacing, punishes, frame start up, overheads and mids as u said it's the TOOLS that a character has. Because what's the point of having and executing all these fun combos, if ur lack of tools prevents you from getting anything off the ground???

All this is well known, you're too late Dawg. As Li Mei player: as long as you play against someone who does not exploit her gaps, she does may look like a contender to be in top 10. Once the gaps are explored, the picture changes. Also when you play against good player who understands her structure (she need to be in) and is able to keep how out fo range (haha range, yeah... something she does not have) winning is getting hard.

I am currently on Elder God rank. Li Mei is the easiest character to beat for me. She has way too many unsafe moves. But, I agree, if she gets a hit confirm she can deal massive damage.
