@@Person_person_the-second it does, its almost impossible to combo after, however it does provide good dmg for a basic combo, but you can optimize and get more out by using a different set up

something you seem to have missed in the video (i think), if you do the command grab while in the corner and the grab takes the opponent out of the corner it does more damage with a new animation. It's actually a requirement for one of his brutalities. good corner carry too if you're stuck in the corner and want to switch sides landing a f2 into the command grab can put the opponent right into the corner

Small notes: command grab throwing opponents away from the corner does 19% I believe you skipped over the armored attack, which is also his best anti air and go to meterless combo extender off b1-2 and f2-4-2 in the corner. Sandstorm launches the opponent for a combo after f2-4 F4-4 can be special canceled to jail into summon kameo moves to be safe or even plus Fixed point (rewind time) can be done during hitstun or blockstun, and will freeze the opponent if you are close, making it essentially a better version of breakaway due to getting hp back and being cheaper. It has to be timed as it has startup and can be interrupted if done during a fast hitting part of the combo. The air string - into throws all do different ammonts of damage and it corresponds with how frame advantaged geras is after, and how close geras is left to the opponent. The sand clone move leaves you in an un-comboable state. You will be teleported back on hit, allowing geras to safely do mixups that are normally punishable on block. During the sand clone amp (freeze time and create a clone) you can tell the clone to perform inputs. Typically you will tell the clone to go for the f4-4 string that launches, and then when time resumes input 2-1 to create very tricky to block overhead timing during the low string. Finally he can tick throw off the first two mid hits in his f1-2 grab string. His complexity comes from learning all the different combo routes and how to get the proper number of hourglasses in each combo. He has ways to get all three in a single combo but ends up sacrificing damage for each charge he builds mid combo, so it becomes a game of remembering how many you have so you can maximise damage and still get charges. On top of this, he has 3 different combo routes depending on the string you used. F2-4 cant convert to time freeze due to pushback so you have to use sandstorm, b1-2 needs to use the move "denial" in order to convert, and his other strings work with time freeze. Lastly the arguably most complicated part is getting the most out of Rewind Time. Geras is a 950hp character so making use of his reverse time can be a critical part of the gameplan vs high hp character like shao-sareena or raiden-jax who start matches off up to 250 hp higher. I sau this is complex because you have to know the combo gaps that can both safely be rewound out of without being interrupted, but also leave you close enough that the small hitbox around geras when he rewinds time freezes the opponent so you dont just get re-combod by the opponent when they see warp out of the combo. Especially feras has like 10 BnB combos to learn revolving around clock count, and then has to learn every other character's bnb so he can safely escape them, otherwise he's just down 50hp in a game where people regularly hit 45%-50% combos. The name of the wrestling move you were thinking of is a DDT, not the Tombstone. Tombstone is a variant of the piledriver in which you have your opponent upside down, facing your body, head between your knees and you drop. Geras' first throw is most definitely a piledriver though.

Underdawg, ya missed covering his db4 which is hella important since it adds better damage than doing his d2 during freeze combos. It also is his armored move and converts some combos meterlessly

Hey guys, I’m a Geras main. Just wanted to mention that fixed point acts as armor. As soon as Geras is hit, he returns to where it was activated. His “double time” construct cannot jump, grab, create other constructs. So his forward 1,2 would not create a wall. Also he pairs well with Sun-zero, Cyrax, and Frost

Ideally u wanna stack mid combo. Not at the end. Example: 1,2 freeze, b1,2 into hour glass. Enemy should then be out of the freeze and then u end the combo. The easiest way to end is 1,2,2 into grab so that way u get 2 hour glasses for 1 combo.

@@manirunsthawrld serena is probably the simplest way to play geras but it's also easier to beat a geras using serena. Cyrax is a better kameo and the play style is a bit more advanced/complicated. You have to actually use combos that manage the hour glasses because cyrax wont carry you to 45% combos from basic strings like serena will

Haven been playing mk for a long ass time and getting back into it on mk1 is hard as hell, i just know how to win from earlier iterations of the game so i dont take into account, frames and whats safe on block or not, needless to see i get hit up like crazy, but theres something about geras that once you know how to use him, his damage output is insane.

Keep in mind that the move “History lesson.” Is a command grab so you can trick your opponent into thinking that you are going to attack. When they start blocking you do the command grab and it will catch them off guard. Yeah. Geras is still like his counterpart from mk11 BUSTED ASF!!! 😂😂😂

I was playing Invasion Mode, and CPU Geras can cast an Enhanced Sandstorm that puts a little hourglass on top of our head and it follows us around. Would be awesome to be able to do this!

also another thing i just found out, based on the animations in a combo down back 2 activates faster than down forward 2. letting it land in situations the other grab cant. a good example is: f2, 4, df4, s1, f2, bf1(enhanced), d2, d2, dash, b1, db2. db2 works but df2 doesnt because it seems to activate slower in a combo

I think the wake up with Geras is cheap, you don’t even have to spend a bar to do it and yeah, it will still block you or stop your string every time I play gear is almost everyone does the same eight hit nine hit combo and they just stay across at the other end of the screen the entire time and wait for you to attack. They never fight they only respond.
