This video offers a great perspective on the pros and cons of moving to Tampa, Florida, especially for families! It highlights some important things to consider, like the cost of living. You spend $1500 a month on groceries for your family of 5. This is a helpful benchmark!

Great video 👍 I did the same thing in 1999, after my dad passed away 1998 when I was 21 I decided to save to move to Tampa Florida by myself. I'm from NY and lived in NJ which was expensive. NJ: Car inspections every year, tolls everywhere, cold 🥶, state tax, pay for dirty beaches, traffic, cops pull you over often. Florida: beautiful free beaches, less tolls, was less expensive but now expensive, no car inspection, no state tax, but more gun violence and can't swim in lakes or pond because gators and big bugs. Visiting Florida just stay away from ponds.

I had the opportunity to move back here 3 years ago after 16 years in the DFW area. While Dallas is a great city with everything you could possibly need, it has nothing you actually want. No beaches, no mountains, and crappy weather. It's either extremely hot, extremely cold, or extremely windy. I just never enjoyed it there. I would fly out to the Tampa area as often as I could but got sick of seeing the ocean only once or twice a year. I'm so glad I moved back!

And I don't buy food at Walmart, their veggies are always moldy. Yuk. Of course I no longer have children at home.

I live in westchase. This is a great area. Close to the beaches and an easy drive to downtown And traffic is not bad compared to other major metros. It probably just seems bad because you're from the Midwest. Everything is wide open. I had a friend visit me from the Midwest and he had the same opinion. He didn't like the traffic. But he loved the beaches and lifestyle. I'll take traffic over cold, but to each their own.

As a 66 year Florida Native who's entire Family has been GENTRIFIED from Florida, I recommend you really look at the FACTS of what is happening to Florida with the HOARDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE CREATED CHAOS FOR THE STATE. Not to mention, the whole thing is a Republican mess. You better start looking at all the FACTS. Living in HUMAN OVERPOPULATION is in no way a quality of life. Florida is in a huge bubble created by the Republicans, and it is about to burst. Start looking at what is happening to the condo's and mobile homes. It is starting to trickle down to single family homes.

Juan, I enjoyed your video and it made me smile. My wife and I are native's of Florida born and raised. Its funny how 20yrs ago nobody new of Florida except for vacations. We are getting ready to retire in a few more years ,but we are moving to Western North Carolina where we bought 5 acres. Going back to our roots and a slower paced life. Florida is slowly becoming California. Home owners Insurance and car Insurance are crazy high and are not slowing down. Gas and food prices have tripled. i say this just like you not to scare people away but to give them a little insight in to what is happening with costs. We have enjoyed your lifestyle are whole lives, we had a boat went out past the skyway and up through Gandy watched the Hillsborough river get Greened on Saint Patrick's weekend. Been to Gasparilla on the water with the flotilla so many times we cant even count. Florida is beautiful and there is so much to do and available to do for family's. What we are tired of is the heat, Hurricanes, traffic and prices. For us its the opposite we want to retire to a place where we see the seasons and where there is less noise pollution like sirens, airplanes and construction. I want to wake up and listen to birds chirping. Anyway we both are blue collar workers set to retire in 29 on state retirements and we will be building our retirement home. I gladly will pass the beauty and splendor to you and your family and all other family's that move here, but I will not miss the extreme Heat in the summer and the Hurricane watches and warnings and the never ending price increases that happen every year when its time to renew your insurances. It seems like the Native Floridians are trading place with other married couples. Its true there are not many of us left. I was born here when Florida was still considered a southern state. Best of luck to you and your family and as excited you were to move here, we are to move to NC and retire. We will come back to see our friends and visit form time to time. I may look you up in a couple years when we are ready to sell our home and move. Enjoy!

I guess I am spoiled but I have spent all my summers on the Greek islands and comparing the gulf to Mediterranean is no competition. I also hate reptiles and sharks so there goes me not even setting foot in that water. I retired in 2019 from UPS and wife wanted to move to west coast of florida. We’re from Connecticut. I used to live on east coast in the 90s and prefer that coast. We live in north port and I absolutely hate it! Too damn hot in summer and we don’t know anyone. I’m disappointed in my property taxes and cost of home owner insurance. My god just as expensive as Connecticut ! Only savings is No state taxes but that goes out the window in other costs like exterminator not just in the house but my ornamentals outside. Then the pool maintenance and also well water is undrinkable so had to get a whole house reverse osmosis water system which solved that problem. Yes up north you spend a few winter months inside but in Florida the same. I can’t even enjoy my pool or the gulf water in the summer. Water temperatures are always in the 90s’ which is like a bath. Hate it! At least the Atlantic Ocean is refreshing. I’m probably moving back by next year as my insurance company has already threatened to cancel my homeowners policy even though no claims before and house was built in 2017! Don’t get me started on the terrible politics banning books and taking a woman’s rights away. That’s my opinion anyway. Enjoyed your video. To each their own

I spent 20 years in Florida ( native New Yorker). I lived in Orlando when I first came to the state but like you guys I wanted to be by the beach and found myself in St Pete. I lived between Pinellas and Pasco County. I do remember living in a subdivision with a baby gator (about 5 feet long) that lived in the pond across the road. The bugs I encountered and the amount of humidity is crazy. What brought me to your comment section though is what you mentioned: most people are not from Florida. Between the snowbirds and transplants it’s hard to find someone that’s native to the state.

Good video. We did what you did back in 1996. I grew up in upstate NY and loved it but the long winters wore we out. We also had no chance of owning a house in NY due to high costs. We moved to florida (Brandon area) without knowing anyone here. Back then, florida was still cheap and we were able to buy a home within a year when both of us were only making 8.50 per hour. Hard to believe, right?? . Things are very different now though. Housing is extremely expensive. If I didn't already have my house, I doubt I could afford to live here. I honestly don't know how people manage here today. Lots of young adults can't afford to move out on their own. Large corporations are buying up every house they can get ahold of and charging very high rental prices. 3/2 homes in my modest lower-middle class subdivision are selling north of 300k and renting for 2500.00 per month. Today, living here isn't much cheaper , if at all, than where I lived in NY. Newcomers should also be aware of the homeowners insurance issue. You have to consider yourself lucky if a company is willing to insure you. Each year I have to cut my coverage back more to offset the rising costs. The heat is another issue, especially if you work primarily outdoors like I do. From nov 1st to april 30th, there's no place I'd rather be. It's glorious! But May 1st to October 31st is absolutely brutal and I swear it gets hotter every year. The only real solution is to be a "snowbird". That's truly the best of both worlds. I loved moving down here in 1996 and had lots of great experiences. However, I don't think I'd make the move to Florida today. I'd probably look more at Tennessee or some place out west. Good luck newcomers.

I just returned from Palm Beach. I currently live in a climate very similar to where u came from. Upstate NY Catskills area. Very similar. If u watch the Buffalo Football games then u just saw the fans digging out from feet of snow to sit in the sun zero temps to watch them play. I absolutely HATE it. I brought my kids and met up w family. My 12 year old had the same epiphany I had years ago. She said why don't we live here, it's beautiful, it's heaven, I hate it where we live, can we please move. I have been feeling the exact same way for years! But my husband has ties to his kids in this state. He is older than me w kids much younger than mine. I raised my kids alone, as a single Mom. He is a Stepdad,but doesn't play Dad to my kids. My kids don't have a Dad. It's all me and my family. I FINALLY got into a good place financially (outside of my Husband). I have expressed this desire to him, but he understandably says he can't leave his kids even though he doesn't see them that much. But this trip was it for us. My daughter and I were in literal tears leaving, taking off, landing. We hate it here. I have some family who live there, but they are not super close. But I've decided, I'm going to do it. I'm dead serious. My husband chose not to come with us and I realized if I never went home again I would be ok. I would just be happy and so would my kids. My son is off to college and my daughter is begging us to go. I hate it here. I have friends, but my best friend died of heart failure 2 months ago w us by his side. My Grandma who I grew up down the road from died 2 weeks ago, my other grandfather is suffering from dementia and has now stopped eating, he is dying. My husband and I don't have a lot going for us. It's miserable. I hate it everyday. I'm stuck in this grey freezing Hell for 6 months a year. In the summer I make my garden into a haven, dreading every minute until the weather comes and steals all life around me again for months. I suffer from seasonal depression. It's unbelievably expensive to live here. I'm finishing my degree I started and will be done this year. I'm just done. I'm done. That's the only place I've wanted to live since I was 12 and I used to go visit my Grandparents winter condo. Please God. I can't do this anymore. When I was away from my Husband... I realized I was fine, I was actually happy. Truly happy, and Florida makes me filled with joy. I don't want to wait. Life doesn't wait, it's over before we know it. Truly. I'm going to do it. Unfortunately it will mean the end of this marriage, and that wasn't my intent. But he tells me we don't fit well and he doesn't like me anyway, so wth. I need to go. Other than friends and my Dad, there is nothing left. But there,it feels like the world is beautiful again. I need to go. I have to. I'm giving myself 1 year. I appreciate your video

I moved to South Florida in 2008 from Michigan and it's not nearly as nice and affordable as it used to be. I bought my house in North Palm Beach in 2011 for $205K, same house now goes for 650K. Not sustainable. Between skyrocketing cost of housing and insurance, it is no longer viable to live here as a homeowner so I'm moving back to Michigan and buying a beautiful old large French Colonial home at a fraction of the price as Florida. I can always come back and stay in Florida for 1-2 months in the winter Jan-Feb as i work remote. Until the hordes of masses leave and prices go back down,. I wont be back living here. Adios Florida!

I put serious consideration into it , however chose not to after being an empty nester and starting over at my age where I know nobody even though I lived in my home for 21 years raising my daughter alone it was still the state I was born and raised in. It was just a new area I knew little about. I hear how expensive Florida is which is everywhere anymore. Add the coastal flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, bugs, alligators and brutal heat, not too mention overcrowded, for me staying in my state makes more sense. I live in a beautiful community where my grandmother lived most of her life and while I don’t have the beautiful Florida beaches, I do have a beautiful pool that I don’t have to maintain. I do pay a lot to live here, but I am the happiest I have been in a long time❤

Fellow homeschool mom here! We are considering transplanting from TN. We have family scattered throughout Florida and are really looking at the Gulf Coast area. Check insurance rates. It’s ridiculous down here and getting worst every year. Make sure home is newer than 2005 built or forget about getting insurance unless you want to self insure which is like playing Russian Roulette with how warm the gulf waters are fueling these superstorms. Do your homework. I’m ready to leave!

Really make sure you think about it very carefully. My family are Floridian for over 100 years, this may not be what you are looking for. We travel to TN to see our family that moved from Florida. It is much cheaper, crime is lower and life is better. I believe church’s are better in TN.

Moving from Wichita Kansas to Tampa next month. I'll deal with the cost, traffic, and heat in Tampa over 5-6 months of winter, ice storms, freezing drizzle with a mix of sleet, then finally warming up in May all to get weekly or daily tornado warnings and hail storms plus 35-45mph wind every single day blowing you sideways down the road. It's basically year around bad weather in KS. I was lucky to find a decent fixer upper pool home in Tampa and closing May 31st!

I joined a RE tea, the team shut down and didnt plan for thie scenario and our move to Florida plan didnt work due to not planning for "everything"... so out olan fail due to we failed to plan. Good thing we didn't sell our primary home in Indianapolis and we just ended our apartment lease in Melbourne. • India invented the number system. Albert Einstein said: "We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made." • Algebra, trigonometry and calculus originated in India. • The value of "pi" was first calculated by the mathematician Budhayana, and he explained the concept of what is known as the PythagoreanTheorem. He discovered it in the 6th century, which was long before European mathematicians. • India is the largest English-speaking nation in the world. My point is that India is definitely worth looking into and knowing something about. Plus, 38 percent of doctors in the United States are of Indian descent, and 12 percent of scientists are aswell. They represent the wealthiest of all ethnic groups in the United States as well as globally. Education is stressed and many Indians run large U.S. and global corporations. India itself has become a major economic force on its own once again and deserves our attention, not just as a destination point or a piece of history. India is important to our future, and as globally aware citizens, we need to spend some time learning about this fascinating and dynamic country. It definitely means the world has some very viable competition, specifically in China and India! Which is good - I've always believed that competition can get rid of complacency, and fast. Mark Twain said: "Don't go around sayingthe world owesyou a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." That can apply to a lot of things. Let's give that some thought. How can you use this information to your advantage? The rich will spot the opportunities, while the poor will hide their heads and pretend it isn't happening. Can you spot opportunities that may arise from these economic changes?

Moved to the Tampa area from upstate NY IN 2017, so much has changed. Started out renting a 3 bedroom 2 bath, 2 car garage home with a screened (lanai) pool for $1,250. Now 600 sq foot apartments starting at $1,600. Car insurance high premium! And we won’t get into the home owners insurance premiums. Traffic has more than doubled. I personally love where I live (minutes from the gulf) close to Clearwater beach, Dunedin and palm harbor! We are full though, so sorry 😂 I hear Lakeland is nice.

Auto insurance?…….. kinda skipped homeowners insurance??🤯….. don’t move to Florida if you need a mortgage! $500+ a month for homeowners and it’s going up!… we bought 10 years ago and self insure. Not because we can’t afford it, but because insurance companies here can and will fight you for over a year to pay a claim and if you have a mortgage you can’t wait! We went through it!.. but that being said we like where we are, and especially like the medical amenities in our area and the social life😎! However do not move to Florida to save money, because you won’t! There are other states way more affordable.. our realtor sold everything.. a million dollar home and several rentals and move to North Carolina…

weather conditions or an injury or maybe too much confidence (if there is such a thing). Philosophy is one way to try to comprehend the inexplicable things and events we all encounter at some point in our lives. I've mentioned before that it's important for us to remain intact, otherwise we become a target. Asmall leak can sink a ship, or a huge wave can destroy it equally well, as the yachtsmen from the Volvo race can attest to. Either way, imbalance can create situations that can keep our equilibrium reeling and out of control. Our country has been a superpower for a short amount of time, if you look at the history of the world. The biggest risk we have now is not being prepared for the future. As we have seen, there are no guarantees, but being ready sure beats being taken by surprise. During WWI, the battle of Gallipoli, no one expected a quarter of a million soldiers to be killed or for the combined British, Australian, New Zealand and French operations to be defeated and repelled by the Turks. It came as a big surprise to them - because they didn't know what they were getting into. China Today Globalization is a fact of life in today's environment. As Robert described China and India as growing economies we must watch, I simply smiled - as once again we have been thinking alike. Many people think it will take years for China and/or India to approach America's position as the largest economic power. But this may be yet another example of groupthink in process. Both Robert and I have seen their global impact already. Recently, I was talking to a friend who lives in Europe, and he mentioned the huge amount of coverage China gets over there, compared with what we have about it in the United States. It's a very big topic there. There are two facts alone about China that will indicate how that country is doing and where that country is going:

Welcome to Florida! Fantastic looking and sounding video filled with valuable information and practical advice! The presentation is top-notch, and your authenticity shines through. As a native Floridian and having lived in various cities like Jacksonville, Orlando, Winter Park, and currently in Lighthouse Point, I must say your overview resonates perfectly with my experiences. Great job! Having also lived in Charlotte and Las Vegas along the way, both fine cities, I'm genuinely grateful to be back home. Families like yours contribute significantly to the enhancement of our communities and state. For those contemplating a move to Florida and hoping to build connections, I'd offer a piece of advice: avoid saying things like "back in NY, NJ, CA, or wherever, we did it this way." It's a surefire way to distance yourself from the locals. Another suggestion would be to embrace less horn honking and more turn signaling! I also couldn't help but appreciate the nice Fender guitars and amp in the background. Make sure your wife reads the state guidelines requiring you to buy at least one new or used guitar every three months! ~Robert

@@renata2427hi there! Happy to help. Charlotte is a really nice and clean city. It gets humid there in the summers and I’d spend lots of my time up hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains to beat the heat. It gets cold up there in the winters but you do see all four seasons. Taxes are a consideration in NC too. Their estate taxes are high and I heard it said it’s a great place to live and not a great place to die. Charlotte and the Carolina’s tend to lean toward religion as well. That’s okay but when I first moved there pretty much everyone I met asked “where are you from and where do you go to church” first conversation. I don’t mind that but it’s right there in the forefront.

Would love to move to Florida, originally from MI (north of Grand Rapids) & currently living in IN. Concerns I have on issues brought up on other FL you tube channels - high home prices; being dropped by homeowners insurance company or having double or triple price increases; and property taxes increasing greatly. When considering condos - told by another realtor to avoid anything above 3 stories as they will more than likely be in for increased special assessments or increase in HOA fees after collapse of one unit on east coast. Anyways, not trying to be a Debbie downer but these concerns have made me want to look at other alternatives even though I would prefer Florida living. Just don’t want the rising costs as we are close to retiring. Thank you for any thoughts and advice. God bless.

Not sure why your car insurance is so high. My wife and I both lease cars which requires the highest coverage. Previously we were in Miami and moved to Central Florida about 2 years ago directly between Tampa and Orlando off of the I4 and we have always been under $2500/year with major companies like Progressive, Geico and State Farm. Are you getting different quotes when it's time to renew? Also, we save even more with the ability to prepay the policy.

Great video guys. My wife, daughter and I moved to Sebastian from New England a year ago and aren't looking back. Can you talk more about why you chose the west side of the state over the east side and what some of the differences of living in each are?

The weather in NWI has been incredibly comfortable the last few years. Havnt shoveled the last 2 winters. 50s and 60s in December, January was cold and bitter, but February has been beautiful. 65 tomorrow 70 on Tuesday . With a few bad days in between. Definitely not the winters i had growing up..

Funny im thinking of moving out of Florida to Michigan.... Lived in FL my entire life. The heat is just unbearable, cant even enjoy the outdoors, and when it starts to get dark and finally cool off the mosquitos come out and eat you alive. Over the years it has become extremely over populated and traffic is ridiculous. Almost everyone is a tourist and has no idea where they are going lol The cost of living has sky rocketed to the point where it just doesn't make sense. 6 figure salary doesn't go very far. We also don't have any seasons here...The beaches are nice but living here my entire life it gets old after a while. Education system also sucks compared to up north. Hurricanes hit every few years and the cost of home insurance has driven alot of people out. Guess its nice if your not from here but eventually anywhere you gets old. Would you ever move back to Michigan?

Thanks for sharing your perspective. No. The only reason I’d would move back to Michigan would be to take care of a family member and then we’d be gone again. I’d rather sweet than only see the sun for 4-5 months of the year. The cost of living has hit there too, especially in the areas that offer any quality of life I’d be interested in.

I've lived in Florida a couple of times in my past. Ft. Lauderdale area from '90-'96 Mandarin/Jacksonville part of that time. Then Gainesville from 2021-23... I have chronic illnesses allergies & asthma, Fibromyalgia & Osteoarthritis. Many procedures & surgeries in the past & many surgeries to come in the future. I'm Single with several cats & dogs. I would love to have a church family Preferably Contemporary Christian. I may want to move near Clewiston or anywhere South of Gainesville. Preferably further South due to chronic pain. And Central due to all my fur babies and further from the coast avoid (Hurricanes) as much as possible due to the fur babies. Single on disability. Own land living in a camper in Mississippi trying to sell everything. I need advice so I don't make the wrong decisions! Is it possible to be single on a fixed income of disability living in Florida? Thanks in advance!!!

We are moving to Florida. We got lucky to get a place we got, monthly rent is way lower, so it makes up for the more expensive things like food. health care is supposed to be much better there, is my understanding. Driving slow works for me lol i would like to get in contact with you guys to get educated. I am not looking to buy, it's cheaper to rent in my case. But to get educated on fiance living in northern Florida would cool

Thanks Juan & Kate. Quite informative, I really enjoyed it. However, I’d like to focus on cons by asking 2 questions: what about the risks of hurricanes in the state of Florida and especially Tampa bay area? Equally important: I did a quick research and it seems that radiation level is quite high (because of presence of Space center as well as atomic waste) in Florida. Do you have any insights on these 2 fundamental topics? Many thanks!

I’m so glad I have utterly no desire to move to Florida. I was born and raised in New Jersey, and I’m surrounded by 4 State Forest , and miles of white sand beaches. We have thousands of acres of pine forests, with hiking and camping everywhere. Halloween is chilly and crisp with pumpkins everywhere , the 4 th of July is hot and humid, and Christmas is cold, as it all should be. When I kayak or swim in one of our hundreds of miles of rivers I don’t have to be decapitated by a huge reptile. Now, with the assured collapse of the economy, I’m convinced Florida will suffer a hell of a lot more than New Jersey. Mostly I love where I was born and raised, and I’m proud of it.

@davidaponte7521

@@trulivingtampa Thank you, but my heart is definitely not filled with pure joy, just a pragmatic approach to what’s really important in life, like family, friends, sense of community and pride in it. I appreciate the sentiment, but one should never believe life is ever full of joy. That pragmatism, love and joy has assured that I stayed in Jersey, and that has kept me from financial ruin , like so many people who left to Florida and are now coming back. Your property taxes, insurance of all types, HOA fees, are skyrocketing, and a home in Florida is way out of reach for most Floridians. Florida is in serious trouble, I’m not exaggerating, deep trouble.

But how far is your closest Louis Vuitton, what restaurants you got? Sushi, Peruvian food? The only thing I miss about Florida is that there is always stuff to do and it’s right here, I moved to Georgia and I have to drive 1 hour to enjoy stuff there is barely cities and things to do, trying to figure out where to go Sarasota or so lol

what part of NJ is this?
@davidaponte7521
@davidaponte7521 4 ай бұрын
@@aurisarias664 Actually the entire state. In the south where I’m from we have Wharton State Forest, Bass River State Forest, Belleplaine State Forest, and Parvin State Park. There are more Forest that are part of the Pibe Barrens in the central part of New Jersey like Brenden Byrne, but in the north of course we have my favorite Stokes State Forest and Worthington State Forest that are totally different than the Pinelands, but just as beautiful in the Kittittiny Mountains.
