I have so many bad audition stories. 😂 Here are my highlights: - I started singing at an audition and in the middle of my 32 bar cut the accompanist stops me and says, “what you’re singing is not what I see in my sheet music.” Turns out when I had photocopied my 32 bar cut, I had put the music together out of order. I was able to tell him the correct order of the sheets and I redid it, but man it was BAD. - I was at a dance audition and I literally fell on my ass and made direct eye contact with the choreographer. It was not during the final audition part, it was a practice round, BUT STILL. Miraculously, I did get a callback for this show, but I was not cast in the end. - I went to an audition where we had to sing two separate 32 bar cuts. I sang one and it went great! I started my second, and halfway through my mind went BLANK. I just completely forgot the lyrics. I literally just sang gibberish like I was having a stroke, and then remembered the lyrics again to finish out the song. Wow, was that humiliating. I wanted to die. 😂

honestly it has nothing to do with the thing itself. It's just that most people don't try hard like that or go the extra mile. By that fact alone it makes you an outlier. it makes you stand out. Amy you were SOO amazing in your concert at the Above the Arts last year and in fanatical too. As ‘enjoyable’ as it is to hear these stories and laugh with you I can’t think of anyone more deserving to get a lead role in a show so breaks my heart slightly that you’ve faced all this rejection. The acting industry can be so creul. It might just be me feeling super inspired after seeing Hamilton but Lin said that he couldn’t see roles for himself so he created them instead. I know it’s easier said than done but I’m sure your thousands of followers agree that if you ever created something to star in we would support you 100%. I’m wishing you all the love and positive vibes for your future auditions in the meantime !!!! 🥰 xxxx

Not my nightmare, but my friend's. She booked an audition for a Broadway show and was feeling good about it. Really good. She went in and felt like she knocked it out of the park. It was The Who's Tommy (so a long time ago). But she couldn't figure out why the looks on peoples' faces were those of a little bit of horror. They said thank you and she left the room. That's when she realized she had used the bathroom before the audition and had tucked her skirt into her pantyhose. That's all everyone saw in the mirror behind her. She didn't get it that time, but she did audition again a few months later and used the experience as an ice breaker. Everyone had a laugh and she got the part. Lesson: use your downfall as an advantage and don't take things too seriously.

I so feel you. My worst experience I think was a callback for the big equity theatre in town. It was after my first audition there, and I got asked to come to the dance callback (I am a singer who moves). All but one other person there had learned at least one of the combos at the initial dance call (which I did not attend). I thought I still did halfway decently at the jazz combo, but I'm pretty sure I literally made up about 90% of the ballet combo. That was in 2012. I have not been called back to that theatre since, despite doing at least 1-3 auditions for them every year.

I auditioned for Sister Mary Roberts and we had to do the section of "Raise your voice" that she slams.... I had rehearsed and got it down best I could. Then for SOME REASON I sung it an octave higher than it was supposed to be done 🙃 I left the room and the people waiting were like "woah why did you do it that high" and I was just like "oh don't even know 😭" 😂😂😂 Two years later (same company) I auditioned for Skimbleshanks in CATS and decided literally last minute to do it in an accent (the character is typically Scottish), I decided to do an accent because I was the only girl auditioning and I really wanted it. I did it in an Irish accent and the panel literally said "why?" once I was done 😂😂 I didn't get either role but thoroughly enjoyed my time in both ensembles it was smashing

My very first audition for my college shows was an audition for Cabaret and Once, and we were supposed to have one song in the style of Cabaret and then have like 30 seconds of an instrumental piece to play for Once. For Cabaret I sang King Herod's Song, but literally forgot all the words cause I was so nervous and just stood there with my mouth open, and then told them I blanked on the words. And that was a disaster, but then I still had the Once part. And what did I do? I brought my clarinet, which isn't even an instrument in Once, and played the Cats Overture, and not even well at that. I didn't get anything, and I don't blame them.

i have a really embarrassing failed audition! ok this was my first and so far only audition back when i was in 4th grade, it was TERRIBLE, so our teacher told us we had to bring the music our self, i planned on on singing how far i'll go from moana, but i had no way to get the music, i didn't have an ipad or phone, i couldn't use my moms because she wasn't able to stay at the studio, and at the time you couldn't get a karaoke version of the song on a CD, so i basically walked into the studio hoping someone would be nice enough to let me borrow their ipad for my song, luckily someone was singing the same song and let me use it too, our teacher told us we only needed 30 seconds of the song, so i only memorized 30 seconds, i had a vague idea of the rest of the song but i didn't know it by heart, so im waiting my turn and i hear other people singing MORE than 30 seconds, and i started freaking out, then it was my turn, i went and sang my 30 seconds, but after the part i knew was up, the song kept going, so im like "shoot now i have to sing the rest of the song" so im just mumbling the lyrics that only i know like half of, then my teacher realized i had no idea what i was doing so she stopped the song and had me sing happy birthday... i was trying my best not to cry or pass out at this point, needless to say, i haven't auditioned for anything since then, i would really like to but there aren't any good theaters places near us :/ so yea that's my embarrassing story that i never tell anyone
