That’s why I dislike all of those JCS inspired interrogation commentary videos. You can’t determine anything from body language or how something is worded, as the FBI has demonstrated. The only real way to interpret behavior is if you know the person very well and you know when they are acting weird. For example, if a couple has been married 30 years they are probably going to be able to tell if the other one is lying. But when interrogators meet a suspect for the first time and talk to them for a few hours there’s no way they can tell if they’re lying or not. The only way is if they confess, and that’s not always real.

It wasn’t JUST because of his ‘suspicious behavior.’ It was also because of the circumstance; she died in a room alone in a house full of people that didn’t look to be broken into. He said he had already been in the room with her in that position and left her like that. It all would naturally come off a little odd. They didn’t arrest him, but as detectives they did their job in being as diligent as they could considering everything.

How in the world is a person that was found guilty of terrible crimes allowed back on the streets?! I’ve heard numerous people that have been to prison say that when they were released they had become better more calculated criminals, they say prison is like going to college for criminals, they learn better techniques and more ways to get away with crime! So for whomever it was that allowed these evil, non human, monsters back onto the streets should be given the same amount of time in prison as the criminals they released get! I'm really glad it didn't turn out to be the fiance, because so many of these stories take that turn. Most murders are committed by someone in the victim's inner circle. This, this was an abomination of tragic mistakes and unfeeling killers. I mean, you have a woman completely at your mercy, tied to her bed, her babies in the next rooms, and when she doesn't give you what you want you stab her 90 times??!! That's overkill in the worst possible sense. Nobody deserves that, in particular someone who is utterly innocent as Frannie was. I'm appalled that this case is even going to appeals. I agree. In the UK you can have a life sentence for murder and get 15 years like my uncle by marriage. He shouldn't have got that cause the guy he killed was trying to kill him. I wonder how many innocent people are in prison for murder because an aggressive prosecutor and lazy jury think the most likely suspect “probably did it” despite zero evidence? This is also a great example of how a 100% innocent person does not respond like armchair detectives think they should have and so those detectives ruthlessly deem that person guilty. I immediately thought the same. If it had turned out to be the fiancé there would have been numerous comments stating "I knew it was him as soon as I heard ...". Lindy Chamberlain taught me this lesson in my teens. People react differently. They can be weird. The can seem callous because they process shock and grief in different ways and some people just don't like to show emotion in public. Of course, I'm still guilty of gut reactions to things sometimes but I do try to pull myself back and remember not to judge on that alone. Thank heavens for the forensic evidence. @@fredajordan5704 The only thing that was strange was that he did not recognize she was dead or injured. However, we did not see exactly what he saw. There was blood on the bed but it was on the mattress. It was likely covered up by bedding when he looked in and therefore completely non visible. And people tend to think the mind is a recorder. It only takes a cursory look at eyewitness statements to illustrate how untrue that is. Five people within ten feet of a crime can have wildly different reports of what they saw even with obvious stuff like what color the perp was to whether or not he had a beard. To me the most likely explanation is expectation. No one walks in to their bedroom expecting to see a murdered family member on the floor. So unless there is something obvious you may not notice certain things. This is amplified in this case because he thought she was asleep and did not interact with her. I know I have had moments where I walked into the kitchen thinking my children would have left a mess and because of that expectation (and probably poor lighting) I actually saw the mess only to take a second look and turn the light to find it spotless. Most people have some comparable moment in their lives. He just had the misfortune to have a murder involved with his.

Janis Kara : that's a nice idea but it will be more costly than putting them in places where the isolation works better than a very high wall. Just think about Northern Canada, as an example. In those places fences and walls are not really needed. Out there the local fauna would be the prisons guards (for free!!!), not to mention that to stay warm during the long winters one has to chop a lot wood. I agree a death penalty would have been more apt in this case, but your "tax" money doesn't pay for anything real, it goes directly to the vatican. Prisons , hospitals, roads etc. are funded by newly printed or created debt unless privately funded. Most prisons nowadays are private owned and run. Did you think there were millions of government employees sitting around allocating everyones tax payments to projects. LOL . There aren't. They do not exist.

I would like that money to be used in scholarships, Aiding people with illnesses or disabilities and doing something for the environment instead of feeding and taking care of criminals. The families of the criminals should pay for their expenses or make them work in jail to pay for their own food, clothes, medical attention and such like the rest of us.

Capital punishment costs many times more than a life sentence due to the all extra court cases and appeals, plus the cost of death row. If tax dollars is your concern, then life sentences are much cheaper.

Growing up with a dad who was a sheriff's deputy gave me a healthy respect for LE, but I also lived in Michigan for a stretch, and worked at a sheriff department there, and based on THAT experience, I don't have much faith in the Michigan State Police (for multiple reasons) or their judicial system. It scares me that these wastes of space and oxygen may pull the wool over the appellate judge's eyes. Here's hoping they don't... but I'm not holding my breath.

When someone is found guilty of murder, it should mean an automatic life sentence & by that I mean for the rest of their life, not a set tarriff of however many years. How many people have died because murderers have been freed? If you take someone's life away, you should forfeit the priviledge of walking the streets again. Now, I know there are grey areas & I'm not going to go into them, but in the majority of cases, a whole life sentence should be handed down.

Isn't it great how violent criminals are paroled on "good behavior" and later turn out to mend their immoral ways and become upstanding citizens? Perhaps people on the parole board should be asked, "Would you allow this person to stay in your home and watch your children unsupervised while they find steady employment and search for a stable living environment? Its hows that shock can manifest in so many ways - that poor Fiance who was obviously numb and not reacting how others wanted could easily have been convicted in the past when forensic science was not as sophisticated. To stab someone 90 times is absolutely disgusting, how could anyone do that to someone, especially in a home with children.
