Pretty much any mango tree or seedling. The nurseries usually like to use turpentine mango seedlings because of its stringy ball like rootstock.
@TrulyTropical4 жыл бұрын
turpentine is the most common rootstock in this area, but seedlings of almost any variety of mango will work. Some monoembryonic seeds make great rootstock

Wonderful detail. Thank you. Would love a follow-up on that Valencia Pride seedling you plan on grafting soon. What grafting method would you use on that small a rootstock? Thanks again.

Thanks, I use the same methods. I use them for my root tap air layering.😀

Hi , Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge ! :) Typically how old is the seedling when you you graft onto it ? what are the advantages or disadvantages of grafting on young vs old seedlings ? I saw some people grafting only on a year old seedlings . Again thank you so much !

Hii !! I love your channel! Thanks for all the valuable information you share! So i could take a scion from a baby mango tree and put it in a well established mango tree? That means it will bear fruit much earlier? How long? Hope you can reply :)

Yes. Grafting a seedling will shorten the time to fruit.... we'll try to do a video on this soon

Do you really need to take off the shell off the kernel? I'd love you to do a video showing how you extract the kernel from the shell.

If there's no chance of ever able to obtain a mature seed from a particular cultivar of mango, is it possible to successfully germinate from an immature seed taken from a store-bought green sour mango (Elephant mango)? Would it be viable? As long as the chances of success is not all the way down to zero, I'm willing to persevere until one germinates.
@TrulyTropical4 жыл бұрын
yes. Mango seeds are viable before the husk of the seed is formed

@@TrulyTropical Thanks so much for that valuable info. That means I can keep trying until one germinates :)

If I graft cuttings from new young mango seedling, is it going to produce flowers next year ?
@TrulyTropical4 жыл бұрын
Unlikely, but not impossible....

Does the scion from the seedling still take 5-10 years to produce fruit?

🙏🙏 Do all shoots from a polyembryonic plant develop in branches or we have to remove few.
@TrulyTropical4 жыл бұрын
"Polyembryonic" refers to the seeds. When polyembryonic seeds germinate, usually more than one seedling is produced from one seed. These can be separated from each other and become individual plants.
@geriannroth4492 жыл бұрын
@@TrulyTropical would you graft on to some of those individual shoots of the poly seeds
@ns35803 жыл бұрын
I used the method normally used for Avocados. I now am going to use the soil method. I have 200 (hopefully goes up to 300) strong seeds that i have to plant

I think the poly seedlings produce without grafting but seem to prefer the grafted trees! NES pas?

Am I understanding this correctly that u are grafting from one seedling to another seedling? Experimenting?
