I’ve got my pair on order in the black, and can’t wait... I received the boots a few weeks after I wrote this note. I love them and have now had them for about six months, and they get better with age. Almost every time I wear the boots someone notices the “different” looking leather and asks what it is. They are truly unique, beautiful, comfortable, and very well made. Your video was the main reason I even knew about the boots in the first place. Thanks for the heads up and for everything else you do for the boot community!!!

I just received my black shrunken bison boots yesterday. They look amazing! My normal size with Alden and Crockett & Jones I’m a 13 C (C&J only comes with a D width), but I wear a 14 in a tennis shoe. The Truman customer service folks recommended that I get a 13.5 D, and they were absolutely right. They feel great and I absolutely love the boots. Your recommendation was the main driver in purchasing these boots and I’m so happy I got a pair. Thanks a million, WT

Picked up the Cognac Shrunken Bison recently, and I’ll partially blame you😂 These were a pair that I first saw online a long time ago which was my introduction into PNW bootmakers. I remember excitedly anticipating the day that I could afford these. Suffice to say these kind of escaped my mind. Now several Whites, Wescos, Trumans, and many other brands later and I’m finally getting the Cognac Shrunken Bison along with Nobleman’s Apothecary Honey Hand belt. Your videos and general social media content seem to have the ability to capture my imagination for whatever boots your posting. It’s dangerous watching your content😂

IMO bison leather is so often misused but in this case, i think Truman really nailed the design

Here is my current boots collection and how they fit, I received a lot of info from your channel and thought I would share: I also added info on denim jeans that you may want to check out. ( Ciano Farmer Denim ) Alden 403 9.5C Trubalance last From Alden SF(w/guarded goods natural raw laces) Fit is perfect. Alden 40201HC 9.5D Barrie Last Tanker Boot Brown CXL From Alden Madison. Fit is almost perfect (just a tad loose but very acceptable). Alden 9.5D Grant last Hunting Green suede Tanker Boot From Pelle Line. Fit is perfect. ( Guarded Goods Olive round laces). Alden 4011HC 9.5C Trubalance last Snuff suede Fit is perfect. From Sherman Brothers. ( Guarded Goods Brown round laces). Rancourt 1967 Boot 9.5D Cromepak Leather from Horween 2592 last ( Guarded Goods Olive raw laces). Fit is perfect, tough break in, thick leather. One of my favorites after break in. Rancourt Byron Boot 9.5 D 115 last Essex Horween Leather( fit is too long, thumb fits between tow and end of boot) Can not wear, should have returned. 115 last is not for me, tow cap too narrow. Truman Boot 9.5 D Asphalt Horse Rump C79 last ( waiting for boot to be Shipped) hope it fits :) Took your advice on sizing. Chippewa boot 9.5 D fit is perfect. I have 4 Pigeon Tree Crafting belts, I found out about them through your Channel, Green Sedgwick, Burgundy Sedwick, Navy Sedgwick, Roughout Veg. I have a few pairs of Ciano Farmer Denim jeans ( one custom made, one from his measurements 997 model) it is worth the wait for the custom jeans/ duck canvas pants/ jackets. If ordering a custom pair, he will send you a test fit before he sews them up. With Ciano Farmer Denim, you get to customize the front , back, thigh, knee and cuff opening of the pants, however it will take a long time for you to receive the order, which might turn off potential customers. Wait time can take up to one year but the pants/jackets are made to order, I waited 48 weeks for my last order, but well worth it.

I am truly honored that I was able to help you out, and am happy you discovered the pigeon tree crafting belts. those are my favorite belts by far and it's exciting to see other people coming to the same conclusion on them as I have!!! I'll be interested to hear about your sizing experience with Trumans, I'm hoping they work out well for you!! Over time I have come to realize that Truman and Alden are two completely different builds and comparing the sizing can be difficult. If you wear a 9.5C in Trubalance, then I think the 9.5D width in Truman will be very similar. The length in Truman may be just a smidge shorter, but if it's too short you can always exchange for 10B. Congratulations that asphalt horse rump is an incredible makeup!! And good to know about that Ciano denim, I've never heard of them but I'll be sure to check them out. Cheers my friend!!!

tough to pick a favorite but yes truman is certainly in the running!! they don't often do sales, and their black friday sale this past year was the first time i've seen them do it! typically if they do a sale it's for B-grades and 1 offs!

I have this in the Upland Moc Toe and the derby, Truman derbies are like short boots not shoes.😂😂😂

I had to cancel a Nick's order because they no longer make a Goodyear welt and I need to be able to resole my own boots in a pinch. I considered White's but didn't see anything I liked, so went to Truman's. That black buffalo is beautiful!

Does the black shrunken bison leather have more character than the Cognac Shrunken Bison? It looks that way from your videos.

yes a lot of people love the stitch down look. I love it too! but I find the goodyear welt equally as attractive. I'll be sure to do a follow up video on these!!

Any thoughts why there is only one boot on the 55 last our of all the boots on the Truman web site? From one of your videos, seems that the 55 née last is very popular. Wondering why there aren’t more boots offerings. Thanks

good question! it might currently be based on demand. the truman 79 last is very popular. the 55 last is a little dressier and more of a dress boot last than a work boot last. my guess is customers tend to favor the 79 due to its rugged aesthetic.

So some time in, how has the leather aging? What are you conditioning them with? Also, your clock always grabs my attention. You should look up Atmos clocks by LeCoulter. I have two. They don't keep good time but they look awesome.

Hi there love your vids and your collection I was wondering if you could help me with a sizing question? I have the ships biscuit kudu Truman boots and am a bit worried about the fit. They fit nicely all round the foot but feel a little long .how much room should I have in the toe and would an insole improve things? I have quite a high instep so normally need to size up to fit. How does the bison leather wear? I would expect them to be tough. I've never been a fan of bison. I have bought bull hide and they wore well. And as to sizing, I like boots a bit larger as I wear a thicker sock with boots,at least my work boots. I prefer wool but will wear thick cotton. For my dressier boots I wear thinner dress wool socks.

it's a very nice leather i'm quite surprised by it! because of the complex texture it doesn't show its patina very quickly, something that will only come about with time! overall i love them!!

good eye! actually that angle might not be a good comparison because the stump they're sitting on isn't level. when they're sitting on the desk you can see that the height of the two boots is closer, but i'll have to take a look later :-D

I saw your sizing video but I still don’t feel as confident. I’m a 9.5D in every sneaker and 9D in dress shoes. I have the Java waxed in a size 9D unstructured toe and it fits perfectly. I also have a 9D in black waxed in the structured toe and it’s roomy. Should I go down to an 8.5 in structured toe?

Dyrell Kemon yeah man I had the same thing happen to me! In the unstructured trumans size 9D the fit is perfect. However with the structured P79 last I find the fit in 9D to be way too big so I go down to 8.5D and the fit is spot on!

Im wanting to buy Trumans from here in Australia. Sizing is so hard. I now relate sizes to my actual foot length. I'm 27.1 cm in longest foot and take a 8.5 US in Redwing. You are an 8.5 US in Truman... can you share your foot length data.

if you like your 8.5 redwing fit then i would take that same size in the truman 79 / 20 last! in some cases you might want to size up a half for the 55 last!

@@DalesLeatherworks thanks... I am developing a spreadsheet of boots and their sizing based on foot size and standard sizes of UK, US and Euro... sizing is so very not standardised, but 1cm plus foot length seems to work in every boot..

it was a sad day indeed!!! but I should have ordered 8.5D. I saw others selling the same exact makeup on eBay citing the same issues, the fit was loose and that added extra volume. I tried adding some thick insoles and they worked well for a while but ultimately I had to pass them on to a new home

Their commando lugs end up beating up my feet end of the day. Do feel the commando lugs poke your feet after 30mins of walking?

actually I haven't had that issue! I've found that the leather insole shapes to my foot and becomes quite comfortable after a few days of break in. The commando sole hasn't affected the comfort level of the boot but if you want my opinion on the most comfortable sole there is, it's the Neo-cork sole used by Alden on their standard Alden 405 Indy boot
