Thanks for sacrificing these boots. That’s a well made boot. You could have them rebuilt too, give them another life.

They just restocked these and I placed my order this morning. They look like a great alternative to a desert boot.

Congrats on the pickup man. I was really tempted to get another pair of these when I got the restock email.

Truman boots are really great, I would have to order a pair. But I try not to buy any more boots this year so it could be a struggle

Be careful, their Lasts are drastically different than PNW stuff like 55/67.

Wow. You’re the only person I’ve seen on here who broke down a Truman boot. Good job. 👏🏾 I don’t know why it hasn’t been done before. I have Truman moc toes and they are better constructed than red wing 🪽 boots. 🥾. Truman’s are underrated.

A leather heel counter or leatherboard is nice. A celastic one (plastic doped canvas) can be broken / cracked and once molded to a heel they can't really be remolded well.... 99% of all footwear on Earth uses a plastic or celastic heel counter. Leatherboard can also be brken but it's more springy and molds faster than full leather. Full leather can't really be broken and it can be re-molded. Fwiw most toe puffs / toe stiffeners are celastic even if the heel counters are leather/leatherboard.

For those that don't like a narrow toe box consider the ee width or if truman ever brings back the 20 last, go for that.

The 20 last is still around they just give us 1/5 the leathers of the 79 last

Steel shanks are nice, but outside of logging, tree climbing and ladder work, I actually think fiberglass is best, especially in every day boots. It has a far more natural flex to it whilst being remarkably strong and has perfect reflex memory unlike steel.

Think Truman would rebuild the boot for a nominal fee since you're promoting their brand on your channel? Worth a call to Vince.
@aChannelAboutBoots2 ай бұрын
@@luckydc3761 I don’t know. I wouldn’t want to ask anyways. I don’t t want to use my channel as leverage to get anything out of anyone. My intention for my channel is to show boots I like and talk about them, not to become an affiliate marketing or advertising platform for boot companies.

Holy cow, what a great review! You are severely undersubscribed. Your reviews are very thorough and thoughtful, with really interesting boots. LOL, when you brought out that deconstructed boot, my first thought was, "Was he drinking again?" You sure answered that question quickly. 🙂 Thank you for another fun watch. Yep, you did me one better. Those boots seem to be well made. It'd be interesting to compare the honey Vibram sole versus the V-100 versus the red + (fire) V-100 using your new "hardness meter". Do you think the scale is linear? I.e, would a reading of 50 be twice as hard as 25?
@aChannelAboutBoots8 ай бұрын
Haha thanks. Unfortunately I only have the regular v100 sole, so couldn’t test the other ones. From what I’ve read the shore scales are linear, so double the number should be double the hardness. But I’m not an engineer so I could be wrong.

@@aChannelAboutBoots You know, after thinking about this, this is EXACTLY the type of factual and useful information all of the bootmakers should include in the descriptions of their outsoles.
@aChannelAboutBoots8 ай бұрын
@@rickc4317 yeah I agree completely. Unfortunately it seems like the majority of people that buy boots just don’t care and want these companies to tell them how luxurious and sophisticated their boots are. You know all that hollow, meaningless stuff that people seem to just eat up.

Is the 79 Last in Truman similar to Vibergs 2030 Lasts?
@spenserkent8 ай бұрын
How narrow are these compared to a Viberg 2030?
@aChannelAboutBoots8 ай бұрын
They feel pretty similar. The 2030 (11E Viberg size) feels slightly wider at the ball and the heel. The 79 feels slightly wider at the waist. I wish we had access to the last measurements but that is how two broken in versions that I own feel.
