Hey folks, In this vid we chat about the Trump assassination attempt and the very unfortunate loss of a bystander at the rally. During recording I wasn't sure of who they were. His name was Corey Comperatore. Corey was a fire chief who went to church every Sunday, loved his family and was a big part of his community. He died protecting his family. I'm sure we can all agree that this is a real tragedy and horrific loss for the family. Our thoughts go out to them. If you'd like to know more the BBC have an article here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce586kxjvnyo

He also consistently celebrated the slaughter of gazans on his social media. Claiming 'they will get over it' under news posts about the death of literal children. Sorry but as much as you want to paint him in a good light he was a monster who celebrated the actual deaths of children and a literal genocide. Shame on you man, really gross behaviour.

I feel bad for Kyle. In a different climate, he might have got away with it. It's a poorly timed joke, for sure. But worth ruining a man's career and reputation over? I don't think so. I hope Jack stands by his friend.

Typically listen on Spotify so don’t tend to comment but this pod motivated me to a bit because I just wanted to say I think the casual conversation vibe works absolutely brilliantly, and I imagine it would be the same throughout for any of the group. The festival podcast overviews are great for bits n odds & ends but a casual pod discussing the worlds and random interesting tech stuff is brilliant and a really fun listen! Props to Ben, really enjoying the pods lately, feels like the whole TPD franchise is blooming lately which is amazing to see on the side!

But framing Trump as the new Hitler and a fascist without any foundation thus building a climate of actual fascism for over 8 years now is completely fine? Or is it when only now the US Leftists (Kyle Gass is obviously indoctrinated with leftist views hence his social media remarks about Reps and Trump earlier) gets their own cancel culture back as a boomerang, inappropriate? Because actions has consequences? You cannot ignore this is a climate which has been invented and fueled by the left political side, and now when they get a taste of their own medicine, Democrats are starting to cry wolf. It was fun when they were bashing the Right and DJT, but now not so anymore? The whole framing from leftists America and Gass' "joke" has lead to all of this. All of it, but only now they want to wash their hands clean when they are the target themselves... Thát is what's ridiculous.

Love the freeform chats lads, keep it up! Jack Black seems like he wants to protect his career instead of the integrity of his band and mate. Bummer but, that's today's climate isn't it? Please be safe at Burning Man omg, sounds so stressful! My friends that used to go every year are real fans of psychedelics and that could possibly make it fun but just drinking and/or sober sounds terrible but I have faith you can make it great.

The thing with this Tenacious D bollocks is: it isn’t going to change how people feel. It opens the chance for the media to tell the people to change how they feel. Big difference. Big problem. Media persuasion is so out of control now is beyond repair.

In my experience people are angry and don't know where to direct it so jump onto any bandwagon to let it out. I like the use of lyrics so will leave one of my favourites here. Regarding the politics... I do think it is easy if you are politically disengaged to play down Trump's danger, say no one really wants him dead, etc. But it's just not true. If you do pay attention you can see the massive risks he poses and, yes, it would be better if he wasn't President by any means necessary. I'm non-binary, I have a lot of trans friends, including Americans who are TERRIFIED of Trump. He put out a video saying that on Day 1 he had a whole range of legislation ready to go to deny trans healthcare, opportunities, weaken protections against discrimination, etc. He wants to end support for NATO and Ukraine, which will probably condemn Ukraine to defeat and put Europe at threat. I love you guys and all the content but you really shouldn't discuss politics if you are so disengaged with it that Rob had to reminded that Biden is a Democrat. Uninformed opinions can be worse than no opinion. Agree with the Kyle Gass stuff, I don't think he should even need to apologise for the joke to be honest, comedians say way worse stuff without having to apologise (looking at Netflix and their never ending conveyor belt of comedy specials that are excuses to be transphobic). The stupidest part of the whole thing is that if Jack Black hadn't have said anything we probably wouldn't have heard anything more about it. It's only a big deal because he made it a big deal.

100% agree. it’s all well and good saying “there’s a line” … but where is the line drawn for trump ? and where more appropriate to make a distasteful comedic statement than a Tenacious D gig ? i feel this is more about the bands restrictions visa & travel wise after saying something so political not about anyone’s political view within the band because it’s obvious they’re left leaning. British comedians are known for saying similar things about parliament and the royal family and get zero backlash at all ? interesting

50:28 "Cancel culture as a whole, it doesn't exists outside these online spaces...." Rob, as much as i do appreciate all your guys vids and channel, you should tell that line to all the people who lost their jobs for going against woke-ism, leftism, LGBT+ opinion forcing and not abiding to leftists norms in general. There are many, and all i can hear from what you are saying is a sugar coating of what the left did for years now to DJT and MAGA supporters because now the left has put all attention on themselves. So it all should be brushed off as "mistakes", "a one off joke" and "ill opinions" ? What happened in Butler is the pinnacle of brainwashing and riling up people from the Left for years now, that isn't some kind of unlucky coincidence. It is the result of evil indoctrination. And those opinions aren't exclusive to the US, it also is being displayed here in Europe for years, maybe decades now. All that has led to the normalization of bashing Trump c.s. with the death of a bystander and 2 wounded in hospital as end result. And still some people think that is justified and normal. It is vile and evil.
