Tanks are LOUD, even when just sitting passively on watch; an electric mode would allow them to operate quietly for periods of time, a huge tactical advantage. I can provide a bit of context @TheDamageReport. Im US Army Veteran and spent a lot of time with Bradleys and M1 Abrahms Tanks. Back in my decade when i was serving (gulf war era) the M1 was known to consume about 40 gallons of a special mixed diesel fuel JUST TO START it. So logistic challenges may very well play into the decisions to move towards EV. Id also guess this was an environmental choice as the military is a direct extension of the government and various parties have committed to more environmentally friendly measures. Circumstantially there may be two additional factors. EV is likely quieter allowing the tanks to maintain a lower profile through detection. Secondly, an educated guess, there may be benefits with its thermal heat profile again allowing for less detection at range. I wouldn't be surprised if certain other practical factors played a role in the decision.
