What's crazy is that you can tell this wasn't a script. He was doing improv the whole time which is why Jon was losing it. But that also just shows you how damn good James Austin Johnson is. Trump inherited a healthy economy from Obama, who had taken it from the recession precipice of the 2007-09, and it was steadily expanding. Under Agent Orange, job growth was unimpressive, and inflation was tame before the pandemic. But wages were flat, and increases in the gross domestic product and job creation were more or less a continuation of trends that began in the Obama years rather than a direct result of any changes that Trump made. Trump's tax cut helped the stock market and the one-percent (including himself) but not the average Americans. I actually paid more in taxes in the year the new tax rules went into effect even though my income hadn't changed. The tax cut was the major driver of the size of the U.S. debt.
