The average of small cap stocks P/E is not 15. That calculation excludes the loss making small cap companies. The proper number for Russell 2000 (as one example) including loss making companies is 29.37 for 12-month trailing or 32.45 on 12-month forward P/E (both of these numbers were calculated before the post election explosion in their price and are as reported in WSJ).

Everyone was going to inflate, the Fed looks like they're preparing for a melt up. Trump has A LOT of assets that will be affected in a positive way by a melt up, so yeah... he and everyone else is planning on making inflation go nuts. Couple that with an income tax reduction or removal and the populace will not care.

inflation is very good if you invest. because the price of things increases with a lag of a few months after the markets put in the top. so you have the time to sell, and by the time the prices increase the markets usually put bottoms in so you can buy in the market back cheaper

How do you calculate the average P/E ratio of an index that also has companies operating at a loss? For example if you have one company with a 10 p/e ratio and one with -5 p/e ratio what's the average? I'm trying to get a better understanding of what p/e 15 of IWM actually means.

If it does, it will only make the crash that much worse. I am mystified though, Wall Street can't be clueless. If a competent race car driver is swapped out at the last moment, with a known total buffoon, with a history of erratic behavior and poor driving skill, does everyone suddenly run to the betting booth and bet on him and his team? I think they're all in for a disappointing surprise... you could be losing all your money there. The smart money bets on the best driver in the race.

I expect the initial euphoria from Trump's win to last 1-2 months. However, I'm concerned that many of his policies, such as tax cuts, the removal of cheap labor through mass deportations of undocumented workers, and tariffs on imports, could be inflationary. This may lead to rising inflation, which could eventually trigger interest rate hikes which we know small caps are effected by.

The calm franatic nature of this market in 2nd half of 2024 is something I will remember for whole life. Inflation can be priced in, rate cutting can be priced in, Trump can be priced in. I am a btc . holder who is very confident, the more it dips is the more opportunity to add to my holdings. To me it genuinely felt like everything has been selling off for literally no reason, I mean companies with enough cash on hand to pay off debt like NVDA, PLTR and many others...
