I watched this live on stream and trump was really struggling with the words. I'm not used to watching streams so now I see the huge impact that edition has over any form of content. Having this chill background music, the little visual gags and the satsfying sound effects for the cards makes a HUGE difference and the review becomes way more enjoyable.

I thought the same. I took "any control mage like the Big Spell mage of today" to mean "any control mage, for example Big Spell mage". As opposed to "some hypothetical control mage akin to the current Big Spell mage." Regardless, this card and Dragon's Fury would definitely not play nice together, which would be a very real consideration when putting together a control list.

Love this idea, I've never been one to go look at the custom cards on the subreddit but this is a fun way to experience the best of them. Please do this again! I assume the reupload is just to show Mark of Y'Shaarj correctly instead of Druid of the Scythe a second time? I noticed that issue on the first time through. Were there any other changes or does my first viewing still hold for the rest?

I want that Shaman legendary with the overload ability. Trump forgot that overload includes your current overloaded mana, and the next turn's overloaded mana. I could start turn 10 with 3 mana overloaded, Crushing Hand for 3 more, and then play him and fill my board with 6 wolves and a 5/5. But, normally, this pairs well with Earth Elemental, giving you a 5/5, a 7/8, and three 2/3s. Which is also a great swing late game. It a good card. I like it, and I would run it.

You could even just have the 10 mana combo of volcano board clear into him. Board is empty, you have a 5/5 and two 2/3 taunts, and what's more is that it essentially reduced your volcano to an overload of 1, since instead of having 2 overload next turn, you gain a mana crystal leaving you with 9 total.

Deviate Banana being -3 attack is broken as hell. Anything that can reduce enemy minions to 0 attack effectively reduces the maximum number of minions your opponent can have in play by 1, since you can ignore it and your opponent can't trade it in.

I really like the idea of -X/-Y 'buffs' on cards, we already have +X/+Y so why not the opposite? Would silence act strangely with these debuffs? Would you silence your own minion to rid it of -1/-2? (-2/-4?) I think it would make some interesting gameplay. Plus - hp debuffs can work as killspells if the target hp hits 0.

-health buffs are weird mainly because why aren't they just damage? Healing minions isn't that common outside of Priest hero power, so unless it's meant to counter that or enrage effects it doesn't make sense to have it at all, and if you do want to include it how do you price it relative to regular damage? It can remove things just as well, but has an added bonus on top of that, so it should be more expensive.. But would you really play a 4 mana "Minion loses 5 HP" spell over fireball? It's slightly worse removal, it can't go face, and it only matters if you're playing it against something that has more than 6 HP because otherwise the thing is just dead. And if you try to make the numbers smaller so it works with lower health minions, the problem gets way bigger. Why would you ever play 2 mana "Minion loses 2 HP" over a dark bomb or a Frostbolt or a Backstab or an Eviscerate or even an arcane shot?

I liked this a lot actually, hearing an in depth POV from a top rated player really puts into perspective the foundations of value in HS and what makes cards under or over powered. Maybe add a power rating for standard and wild seperately (i like how you touched on both but the two can be vastly different). Aside from that, i think this was great, you took something HS players love to do secretly in their head (theorize cards) and did it with your fan base. Very fun, hope to see more!

Trump lacks imagination... the tailor would be changeable to be balanced. Just have it add the cut text to the target card. Add charge to darkness? Useless. Now it may allow for other very impressive combos, but I don't see anything too OP coming about. Maybe a stealth mal'ganis? But that would be hard to pull off and still defeatable by aoe.

In specifically Miracle Rogue, No Cashback Reward would be an auto include, but you wouldn't ever keep it in your opener. Similar to Goblin Charbelcher decks from MTG, it would simply be used for cycling. Running two of this in your Miracle Rogue deck means that you would only be playing it with Gadgetzan Auctioneer, but because of how much draw the deck can generate, this card gives you a 28 card deck for all intents and purposes. The rare occasion you end up with both copies in the first few turns(which is bad), is balanced by the times you end up with one copy early enough to actually see it upgraded once. It would likely never get upgraded twice before being cycled. That being said, the potential added mana allows Malygos Miracle to be an OTK deck far easier than before, because Malygos alone will often be enough to trigger an upgrade, and the mana allows you to have plays like Turn 9 Malygos, Cashback Reward, Sinister Strike, Preparation, Eviscerate. Decklist would look like: 2x Backstab, 2x No Cashback Reward, 2x Preparation, 2x Sinister Strike, 2x Eviscerate, 2x Cheat Death, 2x Evasion, 2x Razorpetal Volley, 2x Shiv, 2x Sap, 2x Wanted!, 2x Elven Minstrel, 2x Vanish, 1x Valeera the Hallow, 2x Gadgetzan Auctioneer, 1x Malygos

The Willing Test Subject card that got changed to a Divine Shield 1/1 charge is a worse version of an already existing card: Argent Horserider. Same mana cost (3), 2/1 statline vs 1/1, and charge.

Realistically there are only 2 classes that play secrets consistently: mage and hunter. 2/9 classes with the meta dictating further how many times you will see these classes pop up, meaning a divine shield argent squire with charge is worse and likely a dead card in your other match ups. Sure drawing a secret is nice and the flavor of the card being a test for the secrets is delicious, it is a tech card that can be substituted by better quality cards. Playing around secrets is relatively easy nowadays with secret paladin and ice block rotated from standard to wild (the only time you needed eater of secrets/kezan mystic as a valid tech card in decks that could afford to have a flexible card slot). TLDR - secrets are not OP and a specific tech card is arguably worse than a simple charge minion that can already test for pretty much all the secrets that was already printed and used in the past.

I think Tailor Tom could be fair if it was an add on. Like he sew it to the bottom of the text. So the darkness would have the same text but with charge under, so when it's awaken it has charge, which doesnt matter for much since it's prolly going to awake during your opponents turn.

Tailor Tom would work fine if the new card text was added in addition to the old one. The Darkness would still start dormant, so Charge would have no effect.

I love that first card's idea, but maybe it should just be a quest itself instead. A quest that says "play 5 secrets", and shuffles 5 random secrets into your deck seems way less overpowered. On top of it make it only grant 1-2 secrets per turn and you actually have a viable card. And since you can't have two quests simultaneously, the open the waygate situation is resolved as well :) For the Willing Test Subject i would say change it to "Battlecry: If your opponent has a secret, gain charge"

They should really start incorporating weakening cards rather than just buff cards next expansion. things like shrinkmiester was a really cool card because it gave you different ways to do things such as attacking your smaller minions into a big taunt without sacrificing them all the time also spells that would do something like this for one turn might be interesting.

Rehgar could be pretty nasty in wild. Aggro shaman could run it at the top of their curve to throw a lava burst and lightning bolt at your face and then play 9/11 in stats. Control builds could nuke the board with Elemental Destruction and then drop 11/13 down in the aftermath. In standard shaman is moving away from Overload, but in wild that card would be awesome.

Personally i really like reviewing the cards and i think it would a nice thing to look forward to. However, maybe when rating the cards do mix design and power to a category like balance, (1 being completely unabalnced - 5 near perfect balance) and then have creativity (1 being overused and 5 being really creative and unique) just my thoughts though. Really enjoyed the video and i hope the series keeps on going. :)

Quick suggestion: possibly give three ratings? Power, Viability and Fun. Giving cards low "design" ratings due to select combos breaking the power level seems unfair. Tailor Tom in particular seemed like a matter of high power, high fun, low viability, which was captured in his commentary (cool design), but not reflected in his rating.

Just because Tailor Tom's effect would beyond busted with The Darkness doesn't mean it warrants a 1 star for design. I think it's effect is super creative and interesting. Should be like 3 stars at least, with the condition that it needs some balancing.

tautentongue is a balanced good minion, never played in decks but spell hunter would like it for their build a beast. I mean it could be a good secret hunter card as well. playing tauten tongue and forcing sub optimal plays to figure out secrets could be pretty interesting, might also help with by opening up the use of secrets that you don't want to trigger all the time.

Love the idea of rating the custom cards, and enjoy that you used a rating system for both power level as well as design, but you might want to add in a "fun" rating as well since sometimes the design rating seems to hinge on more of "fun" factor

tailor tom, in theory, can work if the extra effect adds to existing effect and not replace them, so you have an inactive darkness But..... then we have issues with potentially conflicting targeted battlecry. Perhaps in that case, target selection will be based on the base effect and if the target is invalid for the additional effect, a random one will be picked instead.

Tailor tom would not be overpowered. Sewing a text onto a minion does not mean he loses it's original text. So it would not work with the darkness until after you make your opponent draw all candles which will likely be on your opponents turn unless you tailor (pun intended) your deck around a combo like that. The effect is also random so a deck trying to cheese it would have to have few spells or at least cheap minions.

Furious rival: 4 mana 3/5 charge. Give an opponent’s minion taunt. It would be cool to be able to get to desired minions hiding behind other taunt minions. Or something like oblivious ogre (ignores taunt)

Tautentongue could have an additional text to make it gain +1/+1 every turn it's in your hand up to a maximum of 2 turns so it becomes a 3/4

The darkness woudn't work with the charge because it starts dormant no matter what.. so you would get a 4 mana 20/20 with charge but you would have to wait until you draw the 5 (or 4 idk) candles

I love It's design. That's hilarious. I wish it could work in some universe...but no. Anyway, the design rating is pretty cool! Are you planning on doing this for the main card reviews, too?
