The people in the departments are going to feed them things to keep them entertained and minimize the damage they can do. We are lucky that they are too inexperienced and incompetent to realize that it would even be happening. For example, Gabbert has hardly any national intelligence experience and would be dealing with spooks, the FBI, and military intelligence as Director of National Intelligence. They are going to run a full background on her before showing her anything sensitive, security clearance given by Trump or not. The CIA doesn't mess around and neither does the FBI. They won't be able to be forward and obvious about it, but they are going to look into her. If she doesn't come up clean or is easily influenced by foreign powers, she is going to be fed sanitized intelligence and she won't know the difference. Here's a fun one Trump's trying again: John Ratcliffe. This time for Director of the CIA instead of Director of National Intelligence. Does Trump think it will go better for him this time or that Matt Gaetz will eat up all the bad press and that he'll slip on through so Trump can get his secret police finally? The press are going to tear these nominees apart and so are the Senate. It's going to be a parade of clowns and nobody getting through.

In theory, without the background checks there can be no disemination of secret information. It's pretty clear what the end result of these appointments is meant to be. 1. Appoint people who are personally loyal to him. 2. Give them directives to destroy the department they're in charge of. 3. Declare that the department is ineffective/inefficient/corrupt. 4. Eliminate the department and declare that any decisions regarding it will be personally made by him. 5. Scapegoat the person he placed in charge of the department; fire them, allow them to be prosecuted. Call them a liar if they protest that they were following his orders. He won't even have to give them too many directives; he's very carefully choosing people who are the worst possible fit, who *want* to destroy these departments. What they terminally refuse to comprehend is that as soon as they have, they become useless to him and will be thrown under the bus.

Do you really think that makes a difference? There was a time when calling and writing congress members seem to matter. My Congress person is Josh Hawley, insurrection participant. I was writing to him several times throughout the year, and I usually got a response, but that response always told me how I was wrong. I think the Republican Congress members are going to do what they want, especially under Trump, no matter what their constituents say.
