imagine not knowing why the eagles couldn't take the ring. Not only would the nazgul get them, but the eagles WOULD NOT throw the ring into the fire. The eagles would take the ring. The close the ring got to Mordor the stronger it got so that by the end of was near impossible to throw it in. That it why Gollum was absolutely necessary as the scuffle was the only way to end it. Even Gandalf would not have thrown the ring. Also in LOTR the older the being the stronger they are, and the eagles are some of the oldest beings. The reason the hobbits were least effect by the ring is because they are so weak. Therefore the eagles could not just fly to Mordor. This aligns with the bloody themes of the story, that sometimes everything depends on the weakest not the strongest.

At this point, I feel like not even Dan understands Destiny’s take with respect to the fireman that was killed at the rally. I see many are saying he backpedaled when he clarified his position, and that is also not the case. Destiny said he doesn’t feel sympathy for the fireman that was shot, not that he *deserves* to get shot; these are not the same thing. He believes that the fireman reaped the natural consequences of being an active participant in a political movement that continuously escalates towards political violence. There is a difference between “if x happens to you, you can’t complain because you get what comes to you” versus “this x bad thing SHOULD happen to you, and I particularly WANT it to happen to you because it’s what you deserve.” Nothing about what D said with respect to XQC supporting Trump conflicts with this position. He called it cringe, and Dan felt like that was an understatement - but Destiny readily says that if XQC got killed in that event, it would be him playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes. This position is no different at all to how he feels about random Trump supporters attending rallies. You can feel how you want about that, but there is zero inconsistency here.

When talking to someone in that "Grace period of flirting section" imo its completely fine to talk and chat normally until that first actual meet up. But if you find a big point of common interest or something really interesting to talk about its okay to put a hold on it. Just say that youre really enjoying the convo, and would love to talk more about the topic. And feel it would make for a great conversation in person when meeting up on X day. Dont need to do it with every topic or talking point, but its okay to do if youre actually interested romantically. Other person might agree. They might see it as you being actually interested in them and getting to know them, vs aiming just for a hookup. And gives a topic that you could start off with to break that layer of awkwardness at first, or when you arent sure what else to say. Could even go that route if its someone who might want to call before meeting up. Gives you a good topic to keep in your back pocket for when you actually call each other and get things flowing. If someone is put off by you doing this it either wasnt going to work out anyways, or you said it in the most autistic way possible. _ Rough example ive had was something like - Girl: Hey, yeah so for work I do disability and accessibility stuff at X museum. Mainly focusing on making sure those who are deaf/HoH are accommodated. Me: Oh, cool. How long have you been working there? I'm guessing you know sign language yourself? Girl: I started working here mid 2022 I think? And yeah I started learning it when I was younger to talk with a deaf friend I had in my grade. Me: I took two years of it as a college elective but sadly dont really remember too much. I was interested in learning more, but outside of class i wasnt sure where I would really practice it. Then covid happened and threw a wrench in everything. Filler cause im lazy: Lorem ipsum dolor type shit Me: Hey, so if you dont mind would you be fine if we put a pin on this topic for now? Theres a lot I'd like to talk about and ask with this and similar topics. And feel this would be a great thing we could talk about more in person. Then when actually meeting up there was a lot to talk and ask about. Her job and the day to day with it, how hard was it to learn ASL. The tiny bit of it I know and say I'd like to actually learn it, and maybe if things go well she could help me learn/practice it. And a ton more questions relating to it, or even branching further off of ones I asked here. Great place to start off to lessen the awkwardness. Rather than it being awkward with neither of you sure what to say at the start, or it feeling like an interview. Shows you have interest in her and what she cares about rather than just sex. Shows a potential mutual interest that could be great for bonding/activities/dates. And with all this the topic youd choose to do it with can be basically anything. Shit I wrote was a bit specific, but you can do the same with certain hobbies/interests/experiences etc.

Anime LITERALLY means animation, so it is any animated thing. Colloquially, we say "anime" to refer to Japanese animation of which the popular shows and movies do happen to share a lot of stylistic choices and tropes, but the style doesn't actually matter. I think its most appropriate to refer to animation made in the West that is clearly inspired by Japanese animation as "Western Anime" such as Avatar the Last Air Bender or The Boondocks.
@Whitedudeabove2 ай бұрын
Anime does mean animation, you are correct. So in a purely technical sense it would refer to all kinds of animations. But words only exist to communicate meaning, and the meaning of the word has changed when used outside Japan. If someone just meant animation, they would just say animation, not anime. I think it's impossible to nail down a specific definition for it, cause you can easily find things that break it. But I think most people still just knows what anime is upon seeing it. Even if it's in wildly different styles. It's sort of akin to what Destiny said about comedy. Does it need x amount of jokes, or maybe x amount of runtime need to be dedicated to jokes? You can't really define what makes a movie a comedy. Any definition you'd try to make would easily be broken and yet people could still consider it a comedy. Yet even without a strict definition, people just know when a movie is a comedy and when it isn't. So anime would generally communicate some sort of animated production from Japan. Which often, but not always, has a certain style as well.
@durodesduvo84242 ай бұрын
@@Whitedudeabove I actually can’t think of any Japanese animation that is completely void of all markers of a typical anime, but imagine if there was a Japanese show that was indistinguishable from an entirely American production- like Rick and Morty would you call that anime? I think I would call it a cartoon🤷♂️
@Whitedudeabove2 ай бұрын
@@durodesduvo8424 I mean it's impossible to say what you or I would call it if you can't even conceptualize such a show. Cause there's almost always some markers that make you go "Yeah, that's an anime". The closest example I can think of that sort of feels like it could be western is Panty & Stocking. It has a very western-ish style. And if you watch it in dub, then you could probably even be convinced it was some raunchy western cartoon. But people still call that an anime. From the simple fact that it's an animated show from Japan and (originally) voiced in Japanese.
@durodesduvo84242 ай бұрын
@@Whitedudeabove what do you mean it’s impossible to conceptualize? Imagine if Rick&Morty was Japanese. I can’t think of an anime that has ever been _that_ Western in style, but in theory it could be made. With Panty and Stocking, I could look at some stills and it’s instantly identifiable as a Japanese anime to me. The way they draw the eyes, noses and mouths point to that. Even Western anime that are heavily inspired by Japanese anime still have the DNA of the West; I’m thinking of Castlevania or Legend of Korra. But I do think a Western show can achieve the feel of an authentic Japanese anime before the Japanese can do a Western cartoon. I think Teen Titans was one of those shows that was genuinely hard to tell if it came from Japan or not, at least with some episodes. But yeah I don’t think you would fool any experienced cartoon/ anime fans if you asked them if Megas XLR was a Japanese or Western show, same with Vinland Saga, or Cowboy Bebop, etc
