I'm an American woman and yes I cried too when I watched last night. It's absolutely devastating what's happening here. I'm 64 but thankfully, I live in California where abortion and reproductive rights are safe. However living in America there is a huge contrast between the people that migrated west to get away from the 1600's pre civil war way of thinking. The deep South mentality is still very real and ingrained in that generational culture. But Thankfully people of color and liberal minded individuals in those regions are being elected into office and are helping to shift the culture. The GOP is 400 years old, outdated, racist and misogynistic to the core. I am feeling very hopeful that Kamala Harris will be elected in November. Then Roe v Wade will be reinstated along with stronger gun laws. Trump will lose the election and be sent to prison. The shift is happening and it's palpable.

A lot of us in the south are really fighting. I’m in Texas. My 25 year old daughter is pregnant and I am constantly afraid that something might go wrong. Everytime I see the young lady, Amber’s, story, my heart shatters. Every election we face so much voter suppression. Our state attorney general has openly bragged that If his office had not delayed mail in votes, Texas would have flipped in 2020. I’ve experienced things like taking people to vote only to find the polls closed an hour earlier than the times posted and police officers were turning away voters. Many of us, are horrified by the thought of another Trump presidency just like the rest of the world.
