Therefore Trump's older two siblings (born before 1942) wouldn't have automatic right to US citizenship. Melanie Trump became a US citizen in July 2006. Baron was born in March 2006. If we stop scapegoating people and actually address it from both sides, we apply enforcement of our laws more evenhandedly and we might just start to see improvements. That's why people get upset about stuff like this, rich corporations not being held accountable when they break the law, while poor people get the book thrown at them. People resent it and become cynical, but most just want to be treated fairly. I agree, it's doubtful that will happen, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't insist upon it. Nobody ever mentions this in the immigration conversation but we should.

Another thing that in my view is offensive is the argument of hard worker and hard workers like legal Americans don’t and aren’t. Work has always gotten done in America it was built off the sweat of those who had no choice but to WORK HARD and with, or without illegal immigration the work will get done Americans need jobs and also want to work. No one is ENTITLED to break the law and cut corners for any purpose it’s just another baseless excuse to gain sympathy that those here illegally take the jobs no one else wants, but in TRUTH not everyone is being asked to do these jobs they are bypassing citizens to give these jobs specifically to noncitizens, so that excuse in no way justifies illegal practices. Many corporations, or businesses are thriving off cheap labor it’s making the rich richer and allowing illegal workers the ultimate incentive of we the employer pay you low but you can get other benefits off tax paying citizens and the US government despite your illegal alien status and possibly get a little tax free wage under the table. Tired of the ‘hard workers’ excuse it truly holds no weight and in truth can also be debunked in many cases. Corporations and businesses cutting corners is also costing the American people and allowing for an over abundance in government resources, or services to be unfairly taken and programs being exploited. Citizens will work for fair wages, workers rights etc., no one is working for free anymore that’s the problem and that’s why so much emphasis is put on ‘who’s going to do the work’ to accept what the employers want to cheaply pay. And if people who are illegal are being paid under the table how are they honestly filing their taxes and being truthful on their tax returns? It’s using ‘low wage’ employment again as a guise to take from the American people. It’s all unconstitutional and in truth trashes the laws of the land and actual American citizens. We get no perks as we are taxed as citizens on all and everything we earn it’s placed back into the system as means to keep our economy stable. Honestly illegal immigration seems to have become a business that benefits everyone but working class American citizens.

When he first talked about mass deportations, I said give it a month, probably less, and we'll hear reporting that they deported a citizen. I just though it would be on accident due to sheer incompetence (based on his first term) I had no idea he would try to deport citizens intentionally... that will make for some very interesting court cases as Trump's team tries to explain that.

This is the first sentence of that amendment and the whole debate is about the jurisdiction thereof. in modern times it has been interpreted to mean being born in the country, but that has not always been the view. The question Trump is asking, or what he wants to change, is the interpretation of that part. The idea being with legal permanent status to be a resident/citizen here (your birth parent) you become a citizen. What it stops is the illegal immigrant from crossing the border and giving birth to a US citizen. How it plays out, who knows, but the idea of amendments and laws being questioned on their interpretation is nothing new. I am sure you would find plenty of gun owners who could attest to that.

The media focused on few crimes committed by illegals, while the crimes of American born are many times worse and more numerous. The policies about guns are killing many Americans, yet, nothing is done. Once, I wanted to live in US, till realised the decay, crimes, costs, from education to healthcare, rents.. For some years , I saw many Americans moving to Europe and in my country. There are many channels of Americans living abroad , all corners of the world. Birthright citizenship is very important. My grandmother was born in the U.S. My great-grandmother was born in the U.S. My great-grandfather was the only one of his parents' children not born in the U.S. My mother was born in the U.S. in 1923. Her brother was not. he was born in Saskatchewan (Canada) in Jan. 1926. Yet, in 1933, at the height of the Depression, my grandmother was visited by the immigration agent in Ketchecan, Alaska and told to leave the U.S. with her son. Why? Because she had in Jan. 1917 married a Canadian and lost her citizenship. This persecution or suggested persecution of U.S. citizens is not new. But, at least, in 1933, my mother's right to stay in the U.S. was respected. All 3, my grandmother, her 2 children returned to Alberta (Canada) at that point. Alberta was in dire straits then. My grandmother left a 5 day a week job as a housekeeper to return to nothing. Her husband had lost his farm in 1929 and gone bankrupt. In case you are wondering, my mother's American family is white as snow. My grandmother was descended from American Norwegians and my mother was descended from Canadian Germans! Unfair immigration policies can affect anyone. I think that's the point that the hispanic American was making. First, the blacks, then, the hispanics and others and, then, maybe YOU! By the way, in the 1970s, the Americans gave my grandmother her citizenship back!!! It was discriminating against women to take away their citizenship, but not the men's. Grow up, U.S.A.!

All that needs to happen is the law needs to stop being willfully misinterpreted and misused. SCOTUS needs to interpret the law in truth as it is written. ‘And Subject under the jurisdiction thereof’ already disqualifies their misuse of birthright citizenship. Those in this country illegally AND their offspring remain subject to the civil jurisdiction of the last country that officially claimed them as citizens as they hold no allegiance to the United States as an illegal, or undocumented immigrant. Children born to extra-jurisdictional persons ARE NOT granted automatic citizenship under the 14th as it is written no need to repeal, or Amend just interpret the law as it is written. Illegal Immigration has nothing at all to do with American descendants of Freedmen, and the descendants of the American Emancipated formerly enslaved Americans our ancestors are Americans not illegal, or undocumented immigrants our history is not anyone else’s. What the man of color not sure whether, or not he’s an American descendant of the emancipated but what he says is wrong and very offensive. Work has always gotten done in the United States there is an immigration process for people to follow respect the laws of the land and come here legally it’s a choice after all.

If children that are born to foreign diplomats are ineligible for birthright citizenship, even when they’re in the country LEGALLY, the children that are born to people with no legal right to be here ought not be legible to be used as the anchor they’ll use to stay here. We shouldn’t reward illegal behavior with our social systems.

I get this even with Latinas..and Africans they do hold alot of patriotism when they come to the US but the thing is most of these countries are third world where opportunities are limited.Africa Mexico Asia....and as much as they come to the us they come for opportunities and with opportunities comes a better life but still there is a sense of home they need....I am African and corruption is high ...I never want to leave Africa but sometimes when it's needed we have to but still miss our culture food etc
