As a veteran myself and the wife of a 30 year career combat veteran and military officer I would like to point out my understanding of what Trump actually meant when he said that he wanted generals that were like Hitler's generals and the reason why higher ranking military officers both active duty and retired will be voting Democrat for the first time in modern history. What he was alluding to was COMPLIANCE. Compliance to do his bidding regardless as to whether his orders are legal orders or not. Basically, as military officers we are damned if we do and damned if we don't. If we disobey a direct order by a Commander in Chief who by Supreme Court Ruling is not open to prosecution for breaking the law, we can be court martialed. If we do obey a direct order that is an unlawful order, we are not under the same Supreme Court granted protection from prosection. If Trump should suddenly be out of the picture, we can then be prosecuted and Court Martialled. Like Mai Lai during the Vietnam Era, there will be no excuse granted us. This is the basest reason I can give you. But the further reason and the more honorable reason is that we took an oath to protect our Constitution against ALL enemies BOTH foreign AND domestic. We took that oath without hesitation knowing that by so doing, we may one day die in combat for that very same Constitution. How then can we obey an unlawful order from a Commander in Chief who holds no such loyalty to our Constitution and to the United States of America? I have not had a solid night of sleep for some time. Our nation is hanging in the balance and millions of Americans are ignorantly unaware that they have a loyalty to a man who could very easily spell the doom of our great nation.
