It's good that Europe is already facing the fact that it has to unite. But we need more action. We didn't act during Biden and he was already isolationist, we talked. We cannot just talk again.

Tell that to Ursula and the EU leadership. CHAMPIONS of talking and not DOING anything. She was talking about the digital transformation of the EU in 2019. What was done for HALF a DECADE? Exactly. Nothing. Now you SEE who they REALLY are. They had a wake up call with Trump as early as the 2016. What did they achieve about the EU army and making the European military stronger in the last 8 YEARS? Nothing! Except for Poland. Huge armies were made in that span of 8 years or even shorter. And it happened in a powerty times 100, 150, 200 years ago. And earlier. Now they will have to meet Trump at the NATO summits AGAIN. Telling them to pay up or he will invade them together with Putin. 😂😂😂😂😂 Lol, EU leadership. Don't make me laugh. Those are people that can't even protect the safety of their own citizens vs the 1000 jihadi attacks. Bunch of betas. And nothing else. Except for Poland and Hungary.

As an African, I hope that Trump’s policies will weaken the relationship between the EU and the U.S. enough to create an opportunity for African leaders to increase the prices of the vast resources we export. From my perspective, this would reduce the manipulation of African resources and lead to higher prices for foreign companies. This is the conversation Africa is having.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. The West has dismissed Africa for too long and frankly, I think that has harmed Europe. We can only benefit from looking at African nations as partners, not as neocolonies from which we just extract resources.

EU electric car tariffs on Chinese cars to support Germany smacks of EU hypocrisy.
@Kendall2332md
@Kendall2332md Ай бұрын
Yes, the EU has subsidies on Chinese EVs because they are oversubsidised and in violation of universal trade laws. Guess what-the US has tariffed them, too! However, you must realise this is a very isolated incident. This is grossly different from what Trump is proposing: Universal tariffs on ALL imports! Neither the EU nor any first-world nation has universal tariffs. Tariffs work very rarely. The handful that do work, are applied strategically to very specific factions of certain industries. If your nation do infact already have the capacity and the technology to produce a certain product more cost-effectively, and at the necessary scale, but it needs a very temporary edge over foreign competition; tariffs MIGHT help! Even then, they are always risky and can sever relations. Trump's strategy of universal tariffs is childish and anti capitalist. One of the example was the dissatisfaction he expressed over there being a significant deficit in automotive trade between Germany(EU at large) with the US. He said he will impose tariffs to eliminate this surplus, which is lunatic. Here's why; Germany can produce vehicles at a significantly more cost-effectively while being technologically and qualitatively superior to American vehicles; Hence even American consumers would prefer European automakers over American automakers. Which is how the free market functions. If America cannot compete with German or European automotive industries and produce their own vehicles to the same standards, they quite simply do not deserve to have those jobs! That is the brutal nature of capitalism! Trump is attempting to make up for the technological and qualitative inferiority of the American automotive industry by making European vehicle imports artificially more expensive. Which is inherently anti capitalist. If China can produce a certain product more cost effectively, while retaining its quality, and equal satisfaction of the American consumer, they deserve those manufacturing jobs! That is a fact, and your feelings don't matter. America's inability to outcompete Chinese cost effectiveness has led to the decline of their manufacturing sector. If YOUR nation cannot compete fairly with foreign competition in delivering a certain product or service, quite simply you don't deserve those industries nor those jobs. Welcome to Capitalism! Reap what you saw. The idea of universal tariffs is an abomination to the free market principles of the United States.

Trump is saying buy expensive gas and oil from the US or pay tariffs Europe. What has that to do with Chinese cars? The US itself already has a 100% tariff on Chinese cars by the way. We give away subsidies to EV that benefits Tesla in the EU. That Chinese car tariff of the EU benefits Tesla. The funny part is that Trump his buddy Orban has the most oil and gas from Russia right now. They will get hit the most in Hungary.

To build up more Europe is not a plan, that's an ideology. Trump has clearly said he wants to bring industrial jobs back to the US. So bringing industries also from Europe to the US. It's a competitor, not a partner.

He will have the competition he is looking for. Soon, EU will integrate with Mercosur,meantime he puts more tariffs. That means the american products will be replaced by european products in South America. More,the Mercosur conturies will have to adopt the EU standards,meantime the US and China products don't comply,so they will be out. On another idea,the americans buy european products for quality reasons,not because are cheap,so they will continue to buy even if the price increases by 10-20%,meantime the europeans will still not buy the bulky, low quality, high fuel consumption american cars,because that's the buyer's choice,not a governamental decision.

He’s probably going to be taking a “victory lap”. He will press Europe to have a more balanced trade policy, but this should be done. Europe should stop protectionism.
