Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs if BRICS Nations Try to Ditch US Dollar | Firstpost America | N18G
US President Donald Trump has threatened the BRICS nations with 100 per cent tariffs for trying to replace the US Dollar as the dominant currency in global trade. In a social media post, President Trump stood against de-dollarisation, saying Washington needs a commitment that these countries would neither create a BRICS currency nor back any other currency to replace the dollar. The commander-in-chief added that if BRICS nations want to use another currency, they can say hello to tariffs, and goodbye to America. This is not the first time that the president has made such a threat to the BRICS group which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.

The funny bit is... this would harm the USA more than it would hurt the BRICS nations. For one thing, they have each other to trade with instead. Secondly, there's the EU they still could trade with. OK, one of those BRICS nations is severely limited in its ability to trade with the EU, that country being Russia. But... the rest isn't as hampered as Russia is. Nor will the EU impose 100% tariffs on BRICS just because the USA would do it. So... yeah, obviously, they would move their attention to the EU.
