CORRECTIONS: 1. Obviously, as some of you have pointed out, Paul Ryan was speaker of the House and not a Senator; 2. It’s not true to suggest Lee Zeldin performed ‘poorly’ - he came within a few points of victory in New York, which usually leans heavily Dem. These are sloppy errors we shouldn’t be making and we can only apologise - hope you nonetheless enjoyed the video and found it otherwise informative!

Tbh, almost half of NY is NYC, and Zeldin only got about 30% of votes here. Most NY counties are Republican leaning, but moderates give Democrats more of an edge.

I live in NY, and the closer we got to election day the more people here felt confident Zeldin was going to win. Zeldin came closer to getting elected than any other republican candidate in nearly 20 years. Even though he lost, he did pretty well here.

Even if Trump or DeSantis doesn't win out, the feud itself could do a lot of damage. That being said, Trump losing might be even more disastrous for the Republicans as if that 30% mentioned in the video stuck with Trump and not vote for DeSantis out of spite, or even Trump running his own independent bid, that's probably it for the Republicans' chances of retaking the White House. It'll be like the Roosevelt-Taft feud all over again, as others pointed out.

An elongated Trump/DeSantis feud heading into 2024 would be a recipe for disaster in the conservative movement in America. This is exactly what Biden is hoping for and probably becoming his main campaign strategy heading into a difficult map in 2024. If Trump does spite DeSantis so much that he launches his bid, this could mean the largest split of a major party since 1968 during a split between the Democrats with Hubert Humphrey and George Wallace's Independent Americans.

@@jmrtnez Well, if it gets vicious and DeSantis barely wins, Trump might claim the Establishment stole the primary from him and decide to run in the General Election under an 'America First' Party. That could split the Republicans and hand a number of close state races to the democrats and make the Democrat candidate win almost by default. This hasn't happened in 100 years since the Roosevelt-Taft-Wilson Election Or even nuttier! If the Democrat candidate is particularly unpopular come election day and it turns into a true 3 way race then it may be no one reaches the 270 electoral votes to win the Presidency and suddenly the House and Senate are charged with picking the president in a tie-tacular way as each state gets one vote in the House and the Senate is an even number. This hasn't happened at least 150 years if not longer, I don't know the last election in which it happened but it would happen on occasion in the founder's days. Either of these scenarios would be quite the show to outsiders!

I think they misinterpreted Lee Zeldin performing "poorly" in the Gubernatorial election despite New York trending rightward with all counties and especially New York City trending Republican as well by about 20 points with all counties too by a dozen. I found this out by New York Times's midterm gubernatorial election results with the vote comparison from 2020.

It would be interesting to see how these two poll as it pertains to current issues Foreign Policy, Financial Policy, and Social Policy. How they do they poll with undecided voters, or unaligned voters. How do they compare with up and coming democratic issues? It would be great to see what else DeSantis has done in his political career. What bills he had sponsored in congress, what he has done as governor, what the policies have done for the state of Florida, and what that might mean for him as a CV for the presidency as it compares to his democratic competition.
