I really think many of them thought a vote for Trump was a move to make prices and the economy, quite literally, revert to what it was 2017-19. I don't think they understand that it isn't how this works. Tariffs and mass deportations won't solve the working class' problems & as we've seen the markets are pricing in inflation already. But it's different than what was on offer (Harris' tax credits and price gouging policies just didn't set fire to the American electorate). Tax cuts also won't solve this problem, if we look at rates from FDR to today, we've been experimenting with cuts in earnest since Reagan on. If it was going to solve anything, it should have many times over. But, inflation is the beast that ends presidencies. "Nixon shock" and the stagnation of the 70s knocked down Ford and Carter alike. HW's average inflation wasn't far off Reagan's average but he did not have the Reagan charm. Biden/Harris is another victim of it. I think Democrats need to undestand their bleed with Latino voters, black men, is also, partially, the *same* is their bleed of working class voters. They need a message for the working class, and have their policy successes speak to the multiethnic coalition they want to do right by, and make sure the policies are inclusive of them without making a show of it (sadly I think they need to, to dodge the "woke" label).

I’m Brazilian, but I went to school in the U.S. and lived there for eight years-years I loved and cherished. For most of my life, I believed in the idea of American exceptionalism and thought that America’s values and culture had a positive influence on the world. But this election has completely shattered those beliefs. It’s clear now that Americans aren’t who I thought they were. :-/ America no longer feels like a progressive force for good or a place I’d want to emulate. I wish I could say that Trump is only America’s problem, but unfortunately, the consequences of Americans most harmful decisions are rarely contained within its borders. I know this sounds bitter, but going forward, don’t expect sympathy from us. You chose this. I can only hope that Americas influence on the world can finally fade for good.

i think the message is pretty clear , until democrats dont become a worker rights party and drop identity politics people will protest vote right wing populist , because they will at least pretend to do something about economy , Harris said when point blank asked how she would be different than Biden that she wouldnt do a single thing differently, but prices are up and unless youre in one of the rare industries like tech where wages have kept up with inflation, youre in a world of hurt , people have historically always chosen right wing populism when times are tough , problem is its usually followed by real leftist worker rights movement, but im afraid democratic establishment simply wont allow for that to be the counter to right wing populism , because neoliberals them selves would rather shake hands with trump than bernie when it comes to actually passing policies that help your average Joe (Kamala was campaigning on raining in immigration and having most lethal military, instead of universal healthcare)

Inflation and immigration really hurt Harris. Inflation has come down, and the US managed it better than any other country, but the problem is that prices are still high, especially on groceries, and this hurts people who are lower on the socioeconomic scale. For these people, all the other good economic news means very little. On immigration, Dems/Progressive have to find an answer. Making the economic argument that immigrants take jobs that Americans don't want and support the economy does not work. The argument that we are a nation of immigrants and should continue our history of welcoming people to this country does not work. Trump demonized immigrants and still increased his margins with Latino voters. Biden desperately wanted to sign the Lankford bill, but Trump adroitly knocked it out. Obama understood the political pitfalls of immigration and earned the name Deporter and Chief. We have to figure this issue out, or we will keep losing elections.

The electoral college is the right system for all the wrong reasons and poorly executed. We need an electoral college elected locally with the people's needs as their only mandate. White race? These ideas of humans being in a "race" according to their skin colour were only scientific in about 1910. We now know there is no way you can look at DNA and have the slightest idea whether someone is white irish, white russian, white maltese etc. The word (and concept) of race as identified by skin colour is really a colonial thing so when people from europe took over faraway places they could easily identify (and subjugate, quite literally subjugate) people with darker complexions. Everyone non european then got categorised "black" or different words that we no longer tend to use as if this worldwide homogenisation of label made the slightest sense. Lesson over.

I second this wholeheartedly, and the same - I have no horse in this either, I'm from NZ - With all that was at risk they chose to run, with no primary, a robotic candidate with no real message against a beast. The dems deserve to be punished for this ongoing behaviour, its just unfortunately they decided to run this way against a Fascist :)

@stathisath I'm sorry, who alienated the entire white race??? Your filter is off bro. You got to mix up your media intake. Harris hardly mentioned race or gender at all in this entire campaign. Apparently it's just on your mind.

The way I'm feeling reminds me of the end of Super Bowl in 2015, as a Seahawks fan. When the Seahawks were on the 1-yard line and they called a pass play instead of running Marshawn Lynch, then threw an interception. I was hugely disappointed, but I ended up laughing to myself. I could only think, "I guess they didn't really want to win." That's what I think of America. They don't care.

Love you guys, and I’m right here in the $h** with you guys. At some point we need to realize half of America are nothing more than self serving, self absorbed individuals with absolutely zero interest in others or their respective plights. This is America ffs, we used to help our neighbors in need, and congratulate those who’ve overcome adversity. Now those same neighbors we don’t so much as wave at when passing by, and we couldn’t give a baker’s f**k if they’ve succeeded at something or not. I’ve tried to cross political spectrums, and always be the first at the table to give something up and sacrifice for others. But we’ve shown that we are not that nation. We clearly have the memory of goldfish or Stockholm syndrome or some $h** to elect the mirror image of the absolute worst of us to the most powerful job in the land. Oh and to add to that no senate or house. Then when these same bottom feeders realize what life is going to be like under a theocratic autocracy and they want to go back it will be too late. Project 2025 will now commence, and any chance at justice we just wiped our a$$es with it. I digress✌️

@toddheartsound5451 My point wasn’t with regards to any financial wellbeing or lack thereof but rather the fact we’re (not sure if you are) reeling from the recent news of trump getting reelected. You know, going back to a world where facts are no longer facts, and what you’re seeing with your own eyes isn’t real
@toddheartsound54512 сағат бұрын
@@Yourmission9 sorry but I don't see how Harris has been any better than Trump in the facts department. There's so many that I forgot (and they are irrelevant now) but start with the "Biden is running circles around his staff" and the FBI colluding with them to lie about Hunter's laptop... There are probably dozens more but I lost count. I'm reeling from 4 years of economic downturn. Back in 2018 - I was the MAN, phone won't stop ringing. 2024 - made redundant 3 times, cut any luxuries and made withdrawals from my savings. 500 applicants for each role... That's both an immigration issue and an economic issue. Can't wait to see what Trump does, it can't get any worse, in my field!

I was watching MSNBC, and while the panel was concealing their disappointment, hoping to keep viewers, that guy Steve Kornacki was not doing the network any favors. He was discussing all the same signals Scott pointed out regarding how Biden did, compared to how well Harris was doing. Also contrasting Trump‘s 2016, 2020 results to what he was achieving on Tuesday.
