Yamahas are great for section work and lead trumpet/high note solo horns. Bach's have a bit more character to their sound so they make a good solo instrument. Yamaha's sound is more direct and could be described as a lazer beam most of the time. I'm more of a Bach guy because I do mainly solo work. Just depends on the player :)

Exactly. Doing this "routine" is better than nothing, but not by much. A few minutes of playing will maintain your chops somewhat, but you're not going to get much better.

So, as a Junior in high school, I am trying to be a multi-instrumentalist. I am currently a woodwind and am trying to play bass trombone and lead trumpet so I can be a "chameleon" for the band. Will it work out if I do this every day? Or will the trombone practice affect my chops (I just started trumpet/trombone sophomore year and can sometimes reach beyond double C when feeling it, but I lose it quickly).
