Both great sounding trumpets! I purchased the Carol Brass Andrea Giuffredi Model seven months ago and found this to be an incredible horn for the price. I am 68 years old and own the following in Bb, two Bach Strads, one Yamaha, one Schilke, one Martin Committee, one Lawler and one Kanstul and one understanding wife 🙄! I also own a bunch of higher pitched trumpets. I must say Carol Brass has it together and it is the favorite from my stable. It is the most in tune horn I have ever played and I don't need to mess much with the first and third valve slides! The horn will play smoky and dark, but I can step on the gas and it will go very bright. I generally use a Bach 1-1/2B with a 25 throat and 24 backbore. The Giuffredi Model out plays the Big Boys for a thousand dollars less! I have become a believer in Carol Brass Quality! Thank you for the great Yamaha/Carol Brass comparison!

Thank you for the kind words; I do enjoy making the vids (usually). :) I got a Giuffredi a couple weeks ago - and I've noticed the same thing; I just wrote to a friend last night - how the intonation exceeds another very fine horn I've been playing. The Carol 6580 is a phenomenal model as well; I've got to get another as a keeper sometime. I admire your collection as well; some excellent horns there! :) Take care - and thank you for commenting.

Both fine sounding horns …I can I definitely hear more overtones with the carol brass….the Yamaha has a very organized sound …. I like both horns equally the same. Great job 👏

Thanks; I need that Carol horn now that I have a better sound system. Honestly, the Carol horns are super values. A friend just got the Giuffredi model - and he likes it better than his other horn - which cost him a bit over $4,000. :)

@@JonathanMilam1 now if we can only persuade your good friend to allow you to demo the CB Giuffredi horn 😀🎺 for us. The Horn Trader has one in stock for $2500 … I have heard they are equal to any $4000-$4500 horn elsewhere on the market.

First you sounded great on both trumpet! I liked how you sounded on the YTR-636 better. That is saying a lot since my Dad builds custom trumpets using a lot of parts from CB. What I liked about the YTR is that is sounded slightly darker and a little bit smokier. I thought the CB had a bit more presence and seemed to be a bit more colorful. It seemed to be a bit more resonate. It seemed to have a bit more core. It sounded like it was more responsive but that is so subject from in front of the bell and could well not be true. Seemed like the YTR-636 was wanting to play non-commercial jazz really badly and the CB was wanting to play swing or big band badly!!! Again from the front of the bell that is hardly factual but that was the feeling I was getting as a trumpet player as I listened to you play each. The deep V cup really seemed to draw out that smokey sound from the YTR for sure. From behind the bell did you find one easier to play as in less effort to play? I am guessing you liked the CB better again just based on your sound. You just sounded more relaxed and secure on the CB then on the YTR. Now if my playing was as good as my ears! LOL God Bless!

+buckaroobonsi555 Great ears! :) The Yamaha 636B is a fantastic horn; really an impressive horn. Easy to play, easy to fill - great tone.

Hi Jonathan, I am thinking of getting a heavy trumpet to try, which one is the one that is not too expensive?, and what is really the benefit of having heavy trumpet?, how heavy (weight) roughly considered heavy trumpet? Thank you
@JonathanMilam19 жыл бұрын
+Soegi Hartono Soegi: Greetings - thanks for posting. I've read of trumpets that weigh around 5 pounds or so - that's very heavy, in my opinion. Generally, like the CarolBrass, they designated, or named, some horns 'heavy horns' and you can tell by the letter "H" in the horn name, "6580H...". Bach, with some of their Stradivarius horns, will have some with lightweight bodies and some with lightweight bells... Same thing with heavy horns, I guess. Sometimes a heavier (thicker) gauge brass or copper is used for the bell or leadpipe. With this horn it has heavy elements throughout; the leadpipe, the slides and the bell. One can also purchase heavy bottom caps to try and alter the sound of a trumpet (I have heavy caps for Bach, Getzen, Schilke and Kanstul horns) and I have two whole sets (9 pieces) of heavy top and bottom caps AND heavy fingerbuttons for Bach and Yamaha horns. I think the bell is where we can notice the biggest difference, though. Hope this helps, Soegi. I've bought (and sold) several used horns at Ebay and very many at TrumpetHerald.com Take care - and again, thanks for posting.

+Jonathan Milam Thank you Jonathan, Wow, 5 pounds is super heavy.... I'll try to get caps, I have old getzen, I hope they are all same thread size. Thank you for the explanation. Soegi.
