I'm a keyboard player new to trumpet with only a few months playing. The triple tongue-ing exercise begins at 1min & 21sec and the double tonguing exercise is at 1min & 35sec). There are 14 notes for the triple tongue exercise: f-g-a....b----b-b-b-...b----a-b-a....g-f...g. I'm confused as to which notes you are tongue-ing/repeating three time or 1 time. You stated at the triple tonguing exercise at 1min & 28sec, ''with all triple tongued'''. But it didn't sound like the last 7 notes were triple tongued - I can't distinguish what is being done on the last 7 notes b-a-b-a...g-f-g. . - It would be much more helpful and clear to have a number for each not showing how many times tongues such as 3, 2, or 1 (or maybe 0 for no tongue) or some symbols similar. There are 18 notes shown beginning at 1min & 35 sec for the double tongue exercise: beginning at A4 (scientific notation) = f-g-a-b.....c-c-c-c....c....c-b-a-g-....f-f-f-f-.....f. It sound like the f-g-a-b are double tongued but not c-c-c-c...c....and then c-b-a-g are double tongued but not f-f-f-f....f. Is that correct?

Hi, thanks for watching this lesson. Let me precede my answer by saying that this video is for late intermediate to advanced players (4+ years playing). With only a few months playing your focus should be on learning to single tongue faster and clearly, then multiple tonguing the same note about 2 years in, then multiple tonguing moving notes about a year or two after that. This way you’d already have enough knowledge of multiple tonguing to be able to clearly distinguish which parts are multiple tongued and which aren’t. Now, having said that, this is a video lesson on multiple tonguing MOVING notes, so when you hear moving notes those will definitely be triple/double tongued. In the triple example I triple the Bs too, I don’t triple the last few notes. In the double example just the moving notes. Hope that helps. Good luck!

So first slur the notes then double tongue correct.
